This is a reupload, in november, the original video was shut down by Fox because the "No Mercy" track was suddenly copyrighted. The track is actually the film version of "Journey to the Line" (a bit longer with some alternative stuff). So I made a new edit without the track. I also added the track "One Soul", but I had to edit it as well because part of it is copyrighted.
I also had to cut the final track Brother...
However, you can still get the full original mix without SFX just here : mega.nz/#!dd4S1A7J!TXZiEkOzPN...
    Enjoy!

“Witt’s Death” into “Playing” is one of the most simple, yet achingly beautiful scores of the modern era. The way Hans takes the Melanesian melody from “Jesus, You Hold My Hand” and turns it into a song of lament is reminiscent of King David’s psalms of pain and praise. One of the greatest film scores ever and criminally underrated. Truly worthy of a Terrence Malick film.

What's utterly bewildering is that you will never find this soundtrack in Zimmer's top 10 as rated by almost anyone. Have they even listened to it let alone heard of the film? I will never be able to find the article, but I remember reading Zimmer's comments on his music. He said many fans come to him talking about the Last Samurai yet he said he always thought back to the Thin Red Line, citing that there was something not only different about the film but the mood and feel of the music he was able to compose for it. I first saw the Thin Red Line in my mid teens and nothing else has captured me so profoundly. I haven't stopped listening to the soundtrack to this day, and it's still able to capture this feeling inside me, like a haunted beauty that ponders about life and touches on a brilliance I've yet to find anywhere else.

The critics ignore it because it's tied to a war movie. Ignore it and it will go away. Sometimes the will to change how we do things on this planet trails off into a simple denial.

The track with the ticking clock (during the tidal wave scene) is excellent.

I know a lot of people consider The Dark Knight, Interstellar and especially Inception as Hans Zimmer greatest scores but personally I find the soundtrack to The Thin Red Line as Hans Zimmer greatest work. I can't describe it but the emotions of happiness, deep sadness, anger, loss, etc I feel like if there was a movie score that described humanity at its brightest and darkest then this is that score. To me this movie score is just special and no score has matched it in terms of raw emotion

Saw this film upon release in a big cinema theater. At the end of the movie when the titlerole rolled down I kept seated mesmerized by this music feeling depressed from what i had just experienced. As the crowd shuffled out no words were spoken or whispered. Total silence and I am fairly sure any of them who had served, like me, slept badly that night.

@@michaelredd4676 I mean, Sean Penn was clearly right and obviously Witt was very naive, but here´s what I got of that ending:
Evil is already a part of human nature. Maybe it wasn´t in the beggining, maybe it won´t be in the end, but as of now, it is. And the simple fact that one chose to see light and seek it until the very end makes him a fool in Penn´s character point of view. But isn´t it kind of the point? Like, what´s stopping us from seeking light? Perhaps too many things are stopping us from finding it now, but what´s stopping us from SEEKING it? Maybe - in my opinion - this was the point of that ending (i.e. even when light shows itself, we choose to stop searching for it the moment evil returns.) Yes, we might live in a box. But let´s try our best not to.

If anyone is wondering what song is playing when the Solomon Island kids are playing on the shore and swimming it is: Requiem in D Minor, Op. 48: In Paradisum by Gabriel Faure.
Malick is so poetic with the rhythm and shots he uses in his films. He uses nature and the human experience, both the tragic and beautiful, as a signpost to something divine.

¿sublime? Los conceptos son insuficientes....

@@jesperburns Yeah, for some reason they never included it in the score. I always liked this version when it plays during one of the opening scenes showing the humanity of the characters before it's ultimately taken from them.

3:29 26:28 Beauty exists in such a way that speaks that given god and his light will guide and find you through the pain and darkness no matter how hard the path chosen at hand is to you, you will always have him behind you knowing that death only means immortality through nature only to those who have found there peace with god in such a way you will give your life to those who cannot see the light and show them the strength that lies beneath our blood and to show god is in all of us.
I have found my peace a long time a go after I tried hanging myself due to not wanting to be apart of this world anymore from being bullied at school and watching my dad beat my mum to death nearly and from this I the very tree I tried hanging myself off, the branch snapped and in that very moment god saved my life and showed me the light and so I accepted my fate and the path I had been given and that no matter how many people who stand in front of me along with the pain and torment, god will always be looking over me from above along with my my brothers and my grandma.
God bless to everyone and may you find your peace and be at one with it.

Movie sounds too gory for me, but this soundtrack is fantastic. Inspired by G*d. Thank-you, Hans Zimmer for your inspiration.

Why are the ad breaks in the middle of songs? Jarring and annoying. And loud. This is my bedtime music dammit.

@@alistairrobertson3198 No, I'm not complaining about ads existing. I'm complaining about ads carelessly placed in the middle of songs instead of between them.
