i remember my Dad singing this about 1949 - maybe there was a version which came out then in the post- war spirit. Such a sweet song..
I too remember this from when I was about 4years old. My Mother used to sing this most days and more than once a day.It would have been around 1949.
I remember hearing this as a kid too, when I grew up in the 1950's. I always thought that a version was recorded by Max Bygraves, but apparently not.
