I've been meaning to do this for years, CvS2 was the first fighting game I tried learning for real since I regularly went to a place that had a candy cab back in high school. time to learn how to roll cancel.
@@BronzeAgePepper Focus on learning fundamentals first like anti airing, patience and whiff punishing before you try a roll cancel.

Melty Blood & UNI stay winning by allowing you to edit/save your custom colors
This feature needs to be in every fighting game. Player freedom is based.
The fg makers act like the games only need to have one of these: either costume customization, or a deeper customization, or different costumes. No other idea wander over their heads.
Tekken always has it. Plus customisation
Melty Blood Type Lumina has it, and Under Night 2 will release with it as well (it's probably going to work the same way as Type Lumina, where the colors for each part of the character are from all the palettes the character actually has).
KoF XI had a notable Color Edit.
In addition to characters, you could edit the colors of (most) their projectiles, auras, flames, etc.
For example, you can give Iori orange flames for each of his moves.
Including his SDMs and LDM.
I remember this also in KOF 98 UM and 2002 UM. It was an incredible feature!
SNK used to care more and be more passionate in the past. Especially the 90s and early 00s (before death), but also a little bit in the late 00s.

@@Jayjay0829 KOF 98 UM has a color edit. You can change the colors of the characters and some effects. This is also present in 2002 UM.

Kids now will never understand the feels and impact when we first saw the Champion Edition (and then Turbo) colours for the original cast. Truly magical.
It's 11+ minutes of CvS2 with True Love We're Makin' playing the whole time. Honestly, you didn't even need the color edit as an excuse.
The Color Edit mode in this game was so neat for me back then. I remember making a Jotaro palette for Kyosuke
SFxTK was *GOATED* for having this option!

@@pablosalgado293 They slowly trickled out colors even though they were all tone, you can make their skin glow or metallic. Its distracting but as a casual it was the best feature.
Except for those neon colors, with the gems, it was super obnoxious online

i was kind of expecting a Rare Akuma reference, but not everybody knows about every infamous MUGEN character.

I miss color edits in Capcom games, the only time they brought it back was X Tekken for all costumes and characters. I only like a handful of colors in SFV and SF6. Really wish they would go crazy with it again.
For some reason the color palettes in 5 and 6 are really bad.
For as expensive as they are, there are about 5 colors across the whole SF6 cast I'd bother looking at. Lol
I think Ultra SF2 had it as well. I agree that SF and honestly more fighting games should go all out for the color edit modes. KOF 13 has it as well.

Those NGPC colors are great! I especially love that Terry that was shown off in the beginning.
The way Hibiki's custom combo afterimage sheathes her sword in slow motion after the KO looks so cool.
Absolutely loved the Neo Geo Pocket SvC colors. Kinda want to see renditions of the entire roster now.
I'm gonna take a crack at figuring the extra colors. Let's see:
1 - Rasetsumaru from Samsho (?)
2 - Hyo Amano from Last Blade/LB2
3 - This one's tough... Agent Shadow?
4 - Hehehe... Gold Rugal. Cheeky.
5 - No clue... Shadow Dio?
6 - I give up. I feel like I should know this one, but nothing came to mind.
7 - Either Kappa or maybe Blanka Honda, or "Blonda" if I can give it a canon name. Which, considering my multiple loss streaks in SF6, this is one very terrifying fusion.
The Cammy one to me looks like it could be based on Pandora Mode from SF X Tekken. Black skin, purple clothing, white highlights (in this case, the gloves).
For the love of everything, THERE NEEDS TO BE A PART 2. Please
Avengers colors? Rock in Rocky colors? Smash colors mixup? Hibiki Shulk? The shoto crew as ninja turtles? So many possibilities.
I'd like to see Mai as Valentine from Skullgirls.
As if CvS2 wasn't already goated, this feature made me play the game more even when i wasn't in the lab.
Also, loving the handheld color schemes! Nice idea. Something like the Terry or Cammy colors shown here could be good ideas to make Morrigan possibly look better since her sprite sticks out the most.

Bathrobe Hibiki is probably my favorite out of all of these… and it wasn't even a _featured_ color swap!
I was a MASTER at this. My Terry, Ken, Rock and Cammy were ridiculous.
It still boggles my mind that Morrigan's sprite is the same in all the crossover fighters.

It's funny you say that because I think or at least I thought it's supposed to be a reference to Amano, who is also from _Last Blade_ (her home series).

while I personally am not a fan of how special-to-special oriented & otherwise limited KoF XIII is, I still come back to it exactly because it had its own (pretty limited) color edit, & I could have my mains be in color schemes referencing some of my other favorites from other franchises
I await another game that lets me do funny color edits like this, SFxT, & more
I've only ever dabbled with colour edit twice. Mecha Zangief in Pocket Fighter (SF Anthology on PS2) and Shin Shishioh in Neo Geo Battle Coliseum. Thank you for reminding us of simpler times.
The Pocket Colors blew my mind, didn't know the options were so deep.
Though I don't know if I'm glad or disappointed about the lack of a certain infamous Yuri color.

I remember i made God Rugal a mash of glitched out looking colors, magetna and lime green and stuff.
My friends and I would find people on forums who posted color codes to make people like cammy, morgan, etc. Look nude 😂 i forgot about that until this video!
What an awesome theme for a video. I had also done some of these exactly, but I am slapping myself for not having thought of NGPC Haomaru on my own back then!
I feel sorry for everyone who didn’t grow up playing games with color edit mode. A lot of SNK fighters had that as an option.
Those NGPC colors are PEAK creativity though; I would have never thought of doing that 😹 It’s amazing!

Man, I REALLY wish we could get something like this in a modern fighting game but knowing how stingy tournament rules can be they'd probably ban it *entirely* _just_ because there's ONE stage where if you're a _specific_ color you're *kinda* hard to see.
Derp.
It's not often that a background/color issue is bad enough to get banned, but you know that if something like this were to be allowed in tournaments or even online, you'd have people running solid 1-color characters just to make it harder to see what they're doing. It would get annoying fast.
@brokenhalo22 I mean Tekken had this as a mostly fixed issue by having presets for tournament play. Outside of tourneys go nuts
Tournament rules are not a possible obstacle, no matter how much the fg makers are conscious of esports in the making of their games. Because its just a matter of sticking to default assets. The devs just dont want to bother adding things like this.

Standouts with similar ideas for me are KOF 13, Under Night/Melty Blood Lumina.

That is not a realistic portrayal of the typical Cammy recolor in this game... But this channel is for all ages so I understand.

That's because you didn't saw KOF 2002 UM,in there you can edit even the color of your specials (you can make Kyo have purple fire,Iori with normal Fire,and many others)
I wasted more time making custom palletes on CVS2 & SF Alpha anthology than playing the games themselves, fun times!
SNK really gave us the best most beautiful sprites in history for KOF13 and said "btw you can make em whatever color you want we dont care"

Good old times. KOF XI had the same for the PS2, I'm still proud at some of the palettes I created. There were definitely a few more games that allowed this in that generation, but I cant't remember for sure now which ones they were... Probably other KOFs.
Funnily enough Dan with Sean's color set looks like Dan who got tan and changed his gi color
Guilty Gear X Advanced and Guilty Gear Isuka also had color edit modes. Wish it was more common.
Had a solid black Yamazaki back in the day. His arm slashes were completely invisible if he was darkened so that was fun. Also made Raiden into Raichu.

Street Fighter Alpha Anthology and as well as the Japanese version of Dungeons & Dragons compilation on PS3 had color edit.

they had a version of this in ultra street fighter 2 on switch which I thought was really fun, i wish that game would get ported to other platforms it's really cool
