Thank you! I have a 1998 Honda ACE and with age of bike I am having trouble finding vids for repairs on that age - are the spark plugs in same position? To be honest I have a great mechanic that does this for me but I want to get more into minor tune up stuff. Mine sat for a whole season and barely ridden last season - has been ridden hard in past 5 years (98,000) prior with regular oil changes. Wouldn't start last week (after sitting since last season, battery on trickle, new two years ago), replaced the battery and now it starts but stalls when we add gas - with and without choke but worse without - doesn't idle great but never really did. Had an issue two years ago where ridden 500 km on very hot day, idling at side of road and went to pull away and it DIED - had my mechanic check stator and solenoid and no issues - we jumped it but it was a scary ride home whenever we slowed for light I almost lost her and she finally died again 3 blocks from home - because we never found the issue I don't trust her anymore so have ridden her less and less. I feel like spark plugs done last year but will change air filter now (we took the filter off and it does same thing with NO filter - does that mean anything?) - sits in dusty garage without cover all winter. Are there major differences with that older style bike or is it safe to follow your tutorials for Spirit and Aero. Wanna upgrade to VTX now I've ridden my"starter bike" but want to pass on this bike rideable - maybe we should clean out carb? have never done that but will watch your tutorial - any other suggestions on my old girl?

I would really appreciate it if you could help me out. I have an 05 shadow spirit 750 and I’ve noticed that in 5th gear when I’m on the throttle all the way it starts bogging down if let off the throttle some it runs fine. The bike came with Vance and Hines exhaust and was rejetted according to the previous owner. I messed around with the idle knob so idk if that’s whats causing the issue or is it that it might need a carb cleaning like I’ve seen in other videos.
Also I got the bike with baffles removed but the bike is loud af so I bought some v&h quiet baffles, hopefully that’s not causing any issues. I also just put regular gas in it, Previous owner said to run premium on it.
Run premium fuel. Those carburetor on Honda Spirits are difficult to work. Twin carb setup. If it idles and runs but top end is weak, That would suggest you need bigger main jets. What V&H exhaust are you running?
Two Wheel Rocco that’s cool. No worries. I’ve had a bad experience with a seized plug from a car I bought. That’s why I asked. Keep up the nice videos.

Hey Rocco, is there any spark plug that was specifically designed for the Shadow motorcycle? Any brand to stay away from? What about the "3 hole fluid change? I'm 58 years young and "drive like an old lady" slow as molasses down Mt. Everest in the middle of winter! What of the air filter? Doug🏍️👍😁🦅
Happy to help I would stay with the Honda stuff go to your dealer or online Amazon. There's only one hole for the oil on a spirit two on a VTX and three holes for a Harley Davidson. Watch the video. I explained it pretty carefully. Any questions just ask as for the spark plug NGKDPR8EA 9 gap it at 35. Stay with the stock air cleaner and you should be all right.

Fantastic instructions. I just picked up an 06 spirit 5200 miles for 1400 bucks. Runs like shit im guessing air/fuel mixture. Any tips would be appreciated.

All seems pretty easy except for removing, dissembling, and cleaning the carburetor. That's where I would run into trouble.

They will last forever, myself 10,000 miles to switch them out at that service and then every 10,000 after. Spark plugs are made really well today. Unless you have a fuel, oil. or motor problem.Thank you for watching and all your support Jess. Ride safe and have a great day.

I drop my 02 shadow and bike starts up great. When I put in gear it kills. Can you hell?
Kick stand safety sensor, Check if wire was pulled off. Let us know how this works out.
Thank you for getting back to me. I am running Vance & Hines straight shots originals
With my experience, They should be able to run on the stock jets if there is a baffles in your exhaust.
No antisieze?
No antisieze. I have never used on plugs. messy stuff.
Two Wheel Rocco that’s cool. No worries. I’ve had a bad experience with a seized plug from a car I bought. That’s why I asked. Keep up the nice videos.

Hi im about to purchase a used 2003 shadow 750 for 2.3 grand with 23k miles on it. plenty of extras such as crash bars and long pipes. think its a good buy? it appears in good order and runs fine. starts easily.
no leaks etc...
Honda Shadow is a great motorcycle...I like the Honda Aero 750 or VTX 1300 They are shaft drive... No chain, one less think to service and Shaft drive are better rides. Where are you located..And how long have you been riding?Try to find a bike with lower miles better for resale...
Two Wheel Rocco Im in PR and ive never ridden a real bike appart from a dirt and a couple of scooters. personally ive researched chain vs shaft and prefer chain.
its an ace tho

what year? How many miles? Is your Honda show signs that it is not running well?
Two Wheel Rocco I'd have to ask him again, he's had it for maybe a year or two. He originally bought it for himself, but his leg is messed up so it's hard for him to drive it. It looks pretty new, just a little dusty.
