How to repair the common coolant leak problem on a Honda Shadow Ace. This video shows the procedure for a VT750 but it is very similar for a VT1100 also. I'll show you how to easily fix the common problem of coolant leaking from the crossover tube between the two cylinders on a 2003 Honda VT750 ACE (American Classic Edition) motorcycle. This repair will show you how to replace the spring clips and the O-Rings on the crossover tube. Thanks for watching!

Bro that’s 10y old video saved me a lot of money that I needed 😢
God bless you man thanks for shearing it ❤
Thanks for watching! I'm glad it helped!
Man this is a classic example of RUclips education. I've saved thousands by watching videos just like this. This video is one of my favorites, because it was so simple and it saved me loads. Thank you.
Thank you very much! I'm all about saving folks money....I'm glad this one helped you!
9 years later this video is still helping riders. Thanks!!
Thank you for watching, Wes!
I know is video was filmed in 2013, and it's 2019, but I still want to thank you for for making the video, there are not a lot video's on the when it come to actually repairing 2001-2003 carburetor ACE's. You are the man!...lol...thanks. I Owen a 2001. Be blessed my brother.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate you watching and also the very nice comment! Blessings sir.
2022 and this video is perfect step by step- 06 honda shadow spirit 750
10 years later and this video is still saving riders thousands of bucks. The local shop in my area kept trying to tell me it was a bad gasket when I was 100% sure it was a bad o-ring
Thanks for watching!
It is 2024 and I need to change the o rings, thank you for posting this video. It was very informative.
I'm glad this helped! Thank you for watching!
Awesome. Just discovered my leak yesterday. Thought I might need to take the head apart to get to the O-rings. You saved me.
Great news! Glad I could help and I hope your repair went as smoothly as mine did!
And still in 2023 this video has helped me with my ACE. Getting the rings off was harder than getting the new ones on. Thank you for this video 👍
Thanks for watching!
I searched everywhere for a video and one day this pops up as a recommended off a water pump replacement video that I was curious about. YOU SAVED MY DAMN LIFE MAN.
Thanks for watching, Jonathan! I'm really glad this did the trick sir!!
It's 2021, just pickup a 2000 VT750 ACE yesterday. The bike has less than 8K miles and was kept in a garage. Thanks for the tips, I am sure to use this info when changing the o-rings, clips and fluids.
Thank you for watching! I hope you enjoy the bike, I love mine.
Took me 15 minutes to do this, with my wife assisting. We didn't have to take the choke knob or air box off with two sets of hands. Thanks for the info, I wouldn't have had any idea how to go about this without your video. It was simple. My parts were $17 including a set of picks, and $35 for deliver ;(
You rock.
Thanks David! It's always good to have the extra help :)
I asked about this on a forum, my bike is leaking too. They told me it was the easiest repair to do. I was really debating to take my bike to the shop, and finally found this video today!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH sir, this video helped me a lot, looks really simple. Doing it this weekend if the parts get here by that time, and hopefully everything goes okay.
Thanks for watching, Mateo! The hardest part is first getting the crossover tube to slide. Once you get that, the rest is pretty easy. I'm sure you will do a great job and be back on the road in no time!
I don't usually comment on videos. But this saved me so much time, worry, and money. Genuinely grateful for you sir!
Thank you for watching, Patrick!!
I pulled my carbs to have them rebuilt and noticed a small coolant leak and your video helped me for sure, I just did the o ring and clip replacement
Thanks for watching Zachary!! I’m glad the vid helped! Some people have said the shops will charge as much as $700 to replace those o-rings and clips.
@@dwcoffey that's highway robbery if I've ever seen it.
Yes sir....its completely ridiculous.
I just bought my first bike yesterday and this video made me feel ok about the leak, gonna fix it up real soon and learn to ride! Thanks a lot!
Sounds great! Make sure to work on stopping and cornering first. Be safe and have fun. Thanks for watching!
@@dwcoffey sure am! Thanks for the tips!
My shadow ace was leaking and I kinda had the idea that it might be o-rings and be able to slide it like that so I ran a search and your video poped up on Google. To my surprise your video was exactly what I needed to do. Great video!! Made what I thought to be a headache, a 20 minute job. One thing I couldnt hook old o-rings cause the were like rocks, not pliable. I ended up using an exact knife to cut them in half then I was able to get them off.
Thanks for the video, made the headache go away :-)
Awesome! Thanks for the comments. I think mine were still pliable only because my leak started earlier than most....20,000 miles. Cutting the o-rings off works just as well. Glad to know you're back on the road!
I'm actually about to buy a 2003 honda shadow ace 750, and the lady told me there's a coolant leak, so if it's this, and I'm sure it is, then you just helped me out a ton!!
Have fun with that new scoot Jeremy! Thanks for watching!
Thank you, Dennis for posting this video!
I bought an 01 Honda A.C.E deluxe about a year ago and noticed the crossover leaking. Turns out someone in the past had put some kind of a hard crusty yellowish sealer around both ends. That was a bear to break loose and clean up without a teardown!
After cleanup, the install went extremely smooth!
Dental floss workes like a charm!
Much gratitude from south central illinois!
That sounds like it would make it very difficult to get the crossover tube out. Glad you got it! Thanks for watching!
Followed your video and everything worked perfect. The use of dental floss was a life saver. Started it up and no coolant leaking. Appreciate such an easy to follow video.
Fantastic! I'm glad this helped. I've had people say that their local shop wanted as much as $700 to replace these o-rings. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. I had a leaking crossover tube and used about a bottle of water a day. I couldn’t figure out where the leak was coming from. After I found out where I was leaking from I fixed the problem. It only took about 20 minutes.
That's great Alan! The shops quote anywhere from $350 to over $1000 to fix this leak. Glad you got it done so quick and are back out on the road! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the awesome video I was about to put silicone on mine but couldn't figure out how to get to it till I ran across your video cool little trick with a dental floss thanks again
Thanks for watching, Jason!
thank you soooo much for this vid it saved me almost 200$ of labor that I didn't have to spend MLH&R
Christopher Davis That's great!! I'm glad it helped...ride safe!
@@dwcoffey I have problems with my thermostat, my motorcycle is a 2006 Honda shadow aero 750cc, I have a new thermostat but I did not see where the thermostat hole is located, my question is the hole going to the gas tank or to the headlight
Thank you Dennis! I have the same bike one year younger. This will be a spring repair before she goes back on the road next season. Just noticed the leak while parked for the winter and started it up.
Thanks for the comment Alan. I hope you got your repair done and are riding again!
thank you , thank you ,thank you..... you make it seems so easy ,that even me , a women without any experience with motorcycle had the courage to try and fix it ,all by my self
That's fantastic, Raluca!! I'm so glad you got it fixed and did it on your own. You should be proud! Thank you for watching and for your support!
It was hard to get the tube shifted back and forth but this worked EXACTLY as described on my 2003 Shadow Spirit VT750DCB Thank you so much!
Thanks for watching! Yes, I got a little worried when I did this repair to mine. Initially getting that crossover tube to move was a little nerve wracking! Glad you got it done!
Mr. Coffey. I do appreciate your videos. Bought my first shadow cruiser and have used your videos to investigate, isolate and complete these repairs. Awesome.
Fantastic! I'm glad you got it fixed up. Thanks for watching!
Man I thank you for this how to vid. I was sweeting bullets deciding where to take my bike for a repair. I was worried that it was going to cost me many dollars. Thanks for your help,
That's great! Glad it worked for you. I have had a couple people tell me that their local shop wanted anywhere from $700 to $1000 to do this repair!
Got the job done today, took me 80 mins to complete, the Dental floss worked perfectly!!!! Im sure i would have being done sooner but i was i was being careful not to score it with the dental picks when removing the old ones (they weren't brittle like yours)
Fix the 2 orings and shifter shaft seal, fresh oil change, coolant change today, now its time to go for a ride.
That's great!! Glad you're back on the road...ride safe!
Hey bro just like everyone else here I had the same problem and you helped me loads!!! Any way I could send a few bucks your way, as a thank you for giving this information for free, in a concise but detailed manner!
The universe appreciates you man, blessings and love bro!
Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it. No need to send any money my friend, but I appreciate the offer.
THANK YOU ! This was a great explanation. I just tried it on mine and it went smooth a silk.
Perfect! Thanks for watching, David!
This is awsome. I'm looking at a Shadow today. I appreciate this video
Thanks for watching, Michael! Enjoy that new ride!
Nice job. I wrote something up on this years ago. I used a telephone cord. I only got the replacement o ring. I have done this to 3 bikes. The stealership wanted $600 for this job. Screw them. It took about 20 minutes and about $15. Nice job on the video. I drained my coolant by the way so you didnt have all the leaks. Take care and thanks. BTW I lubed my o ring so the cord or floss slides out easily.
Thanks Frogman! All good advice...I appreciate the comments and the ideas. Yea, it's sure nice to keep that $600 in our pockets!
This video is 8 years old, but today, in 2022, you just saved my *ss! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Fantastic! I'm glad this helped! Thanks for watching!
Dennis, this is just so nice of you and I'm sure your video will be helpful to many riders. I'm going to give it a shot-you make it look so easy, and your instructions are very clear and precise.
+David Bishop I hope the repair goes well for you. The biggest problem I and others have had is getting that tube loose. Once you get it lose, you are homefree!! Thanks so much for watching!
some people were saying to drain the anti freeze before doing this crossover fix,so thanx for that.i have a 05 shawdow spirit750 with the leak, thanx 2 u I have the fix! happy new year!
+todd smith Thanks! Happy New Year to you too!
Thanks, Dennis. I just bought a 2003 Shadow Spirit yesterday, and this is the first thing I did to it, thanks to your helpful video.
Thanks for watching, Michelle! I'm glad the vid helped and congratulations on the new ride! Be safe and enjoy the ride!!
Thank u so much. I did it in 20 min. I really thought I had to take it to a shop, but thanks again.
That's great to hear! I'm glad the repair went well.
Dennis, thanks for this video. Just finished replacing the o-rings on my 2000 Shadow Ace. You saved me a bundle, much appreciated.
Thanks for watching, Graham! I've had people tell me the shop quoted them as much as $700 for this o-ring replacement. I'm glad it helped you!
Fantastic video Dennis. Your knowledge of this procedure greatly helps me when I go to do my 02 ACE.
Soon as I get my Tstat,Cap,and Orings from MI. Waiting is torture.
Jobs done. Though, my pipe would not work with the new orings. HAD to use rubber safe grease.
Also, You didnt tell your viewers to bleed the air out of the system. Its a must.
I hope it all goes well Mike! I know you'll be glad to get it done and get back on the road! Thanks for commenting.
Dennis, thank you for an EXCELLENT tutorial! You've inspired me to get my hands dirty. Cheers!
Thank you for the kind words!
Thanks man did the job in 20 mins thanks to your video. I have a 2003 honda shadow vt750dc so this was a perfect video for me.
Reading some of the other comments where do you add coolant to the radiator?
Hey Josh! Glad the video helped. The radiator cap is under the gas tank. Normally you can get to it by just loosening the tank mounts rather than removing the tank.
Saw this repair done with the 90 degree pick and needlenose pliers but the dental floss seems to be a better idea getting those 0 rings back on. Great vid! Thanks..
Thanks Don....I like the floss better than a pick because I don't have a chance of nicking the o-ring. Thank you very much for watching and for leaving a comment. I appreciate it!
thanks Dennis. I know this is a common problem and we appreciate your video as honda shadow owners.
+chasefoshee09 Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes, this seems to be pretty common.
Very well done! Dennis, you're a excellent speaker. Your explanations throughout the whole process were very thorough and directly to the point. Thank you for a very informative video!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you watching and also your kind comment!
Thanks Dennis your post help me a lot. I fixed it already no need long nose pliers. For SHADOW Spirit 1100 You need to remove top chamber heat fin there are very easy to remove just 4 set of 5 mm. allen key to be removed when the heat fin was removed there are a big room for you to work with it. After that I am follow your step one by one. Now it is back to normal and ready to hit the road again. Big thanks to you.
+Komgrit Ruangrit That's great news!! I'm glad you got it fixed and are back to riding. Be safe!
+Komgrit Ruangrit Dude, you're my hero. I also have a Honda Shadow Spirit 1100 and finding specific information for that bike has been a HUGE pain in my sitting-bits. You just made my day so much better.
I tried looking at the manual for the part number but how do I know what size to get? I have a 1999 Shadow ACE. Your video is perfect for someone like me so thank you
Thanks for watching, Charlie! Here's what you need:
O-rings: amzn.to/2l8V1kK
Clips: amzn.to/2ldKZPw
Dental Floss: amzn.to/2jLLRui
Saved me some hard earned money. Thank you
Yes sir! Thanks for watching, Mark! I've heard some shops quoting as high as $700 to do this repair. Glad you were able to get it done yourself!
Thank you so much, I've been looking for a part number on those o rings forever!
Thanks for watching, Zack!
Спасибо большое за эту инструкцию! Сделал все во дворе "на коленке". Фокус с флосом просто гениально!
С наилучшими пожеланиями из России!
Thank you very much! I'm glad this helped you!
Thanks a lot, really, a lot. You just saved me a lot of troubles. I'll start as soon as I get the replacement parts.
Thnaks for watching, Odin! The hardest part for me was getting the tube loose.....it can be stuck in there pretty tight. Let me know if I can help!
It was a pain but it worked! Great video, thanks! Dental floss was key. FYI my dealership said it wasn't worth it to take the engine apart to fix this. Go figure.
Yea, its a bit of a tight squeeze! Thanks for watching, Mark! I'm glad it helped.
You Rock! Thank you for sharing the video. I have a 2003 Honda Shadow Sabre and have the same issue. The Sabre Group webpage directed me to your video. It is videos like yours that makes You Tube rock!!!
Wow Dave...your kind words are much appreciated!
I have this problem with my ACE, gonna track down the parts and sort it out...thanks for posting this...was lost as to the what the problem was and how to resolve it till I found your vid!
+BONES 333 I hope you repair goes well. Sometimes the crossover tube is a bit sticky to get out so you may have to work with it a bit. Take Care and thanks for watching!
Great Video, thanks! I have a 2002 with the same issue. Although I knew I wouldn't have to remove the cylinders, I thought I'd have to drain all of the coolant and have a hard time getting the o-rings back on.
Thanks for watching, Doug! I hope you and you're bike are still going strong!
Awesome video. It was a great help. Just finished the job. Took about 30 min.thanks again
That's great! I'm glad it went well, Aaron. Thanks for the comment and the share too!
Thanks.. I just save 150$ from a shop. Great video
That's great David! Thanks for watching and commenting. I've had guys tell me that their local shop wanted as much as $700 to do this repair!
I used Teflon tape. It worked as well . Thanks again
Thanks Danny....I didn't think of teflon tape instead of dental floss....great idea! Glad to hear it worked!
dude you ROCK !!! i saw where the leak was and thought mabey the jugs needed to be removed ( a death sentence for this bike) however you saved the day thanks !!! ride on
Thanks man! I originally thought the same thing when mine leaked...I'm thinking I've got to pull the engine apart. I was glad it turned out to be easier than I thought....only had the bike down for a couple hours and back on the road!! ride safe!
Nice work buddy, like the dental floss trick too
Thank you! I appreciate you watching!
1/2 was leaking for me. Ordered chinese orings and now both leak! Double checked that I didnt damage the orings and I didnt. Ordered some Honda Genuine ones now!
I hope that fixes you up! Thank you for watching, Alex!
Great video and awesome tools/floss tip!
I've got a few days before I get o-rings, but you've saved me a lot of time & effort. My '99 VT750 ace is my daily (year round) ride, and I hope to keep it running for a long time.
Many thanks! ✌️
Thanks for watching! I hope your repair goes nice and smooth....be safe!
It went super easy! Thanks again for the video, as I'd never replaced these rings before. ✌️
Great video.thank you gonna do this weekend. However there is a coolant fill cap under the gas tank.
Thanks for watching, I appreciate it! Yes, fortunately for me, I didn't lose enough coolant to require filling the radiator using the fill cap. You have to loosen the gas cap to get to the radiator fill cap. I was glad I didn't have to do that on mine. It's not a bad job, I just didn't want to do it.
NICE!!! Big help, much appreciated. Same bike, same year here. It was driving me crazy trying to find that leak and when I saw it around the valves and crank case I thought the worst man. Woooo, thank you bruthuh. Shiny side up.
Hi Dennis Saw your video, I have a 1999 1100 Shadow ace with the same leak, that I a'm going to try your way. Looks like the same process . I will have to take the tank off to fill it back up. I don't think the reservoir will fill the motor fast enough. 25000 miles. Thank Dan M
Dan Mccluggage Hi Dan, I hope it goes well for you. I think the 1100 ACE is put together in that area the same way as the 750. Some folks have been able to refill the radiator through the neck without removing the tank, but I think it is a tight squeeze. Maybe you can just loosen the tank mounts and get enough clearance without having to remove it completely.
Dennis Coffey Got the parts in today . It was real tight on the 1100, I got an 11" needle nose pliers for the job. It was so tight that I couldn't turn them sideways. But with a lot of trying ,the job got done. I Drained the tank 3gal. ,then lift it up in front so I could get to the Rad. cap on the top right side. About 3 or 4 cups to top it off,put her back together and ran it till the fan kicked on. No problems!! Cost me about 30 bucks. Thanks for the help.
Dan Mccluggage
Thanks for your comments and added info on the 1100, Dan! Glad it worked out for you. I was lucky since I didn't have to fill mine up from the radiator. I know it's not a huge deal to loosen the gas tank, but you know how it goes, there are always a hundred other projects waiting on us to fix 'em! Thanks again!
Hey Dwayne and Dennis. 1998 Shadow ACE 1100. 20k miles. I have this and the leaking oil around the guide pin (5 hour job). For this job, I had to grind down an old pair of 11-inch needle-nose pliers so they'd fit between the cooling fins and also use a long screw driver to maneuver the tube forwards and backwards. Thanks for the tips and the video!
Thanks guys! I'm glad it helped.
Bless ur heart u have saved me so much money
That's fantastic!! It's so expensive to get work done, I'm really glad this helped! Thanks so much for watching.
Oh my god it,s Steve Davis.
Great Video, very helpful and informative.
Thomas Moore LOL! I wish I could play snooker like Steve Davis!
Dennis Coffey
I mean no offence when I say that, just there is a striking resemblance.
Your vid is very helpful as my friend and I performed this the other night and bingo stopped leak!
Thanks again.
All the best
Thomas Moore
No offense taken at all, I thought it was great. Thanks very much for watching and for commenting on the video. I'm certainly glad it helped! Take care
Man, I love your videos. Definitely my go-to channel energy time I need to do anything to my Shadow.
Question: Is there an easy way to tell if this is where mine is leaking from?
Thanks for the support and for watching! If you see anti-freeze (usually green liquid) between the cylinders, it is probably leaking from the crossover tube. That's how I found my leak.
@dwcoffey yeah, I was hoping it would be that obvious. If course it wasn't. I put some distilled water in, and let it idle for awhile, then suddenly it started flowing out of the overflow tube. Let the fun of trial and error begin...
Let me know what you find, I'm interested in what the problem is. Thanks!
OMG I was about to shell out a fortune at the shop thank you so much for this info top man
+Britmoney King Glad it helped!! I've had folks say that the shop wanted as much as $1000US to do this repair. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Dennis. It was my error as it was low on coolant. Filled it up and it was fine.
Glad you got it going and I hope all is well with you!
Thank for sharing. It just what I needed to know. I have a 2001 Ace
Thank you for watching!
This is a top quality video. Great info thank you sir .
Thank you for watching, Julio!
Hi do i have to empty the coolant before i do this job. Thank great video
No, you'll get a little coolant leakage when you pull the crossover tube out, but it usually isn't much. No need to drain your coolant. Thanks for watching!
@@dwcoffey thank you very much for the answer
Thank you so much for your video save so much money for me here in Kuwait from mechanics thank you so much
+Maher Abdelhady I'm glad it helped and glad it kept you riding! Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment.
+Dennis Coffey you don't know how i felt so happy once i fixed it bcz of ur video anyway thanks again ur so good man bye see with new video of honda shadow how to clean carburetor hahahaha
Thank you so much for your vids. You've been a great help.
I'm glad the vids are helpful. Thanks for watching!
saved my butt! Very nicely done tutorial, thanks for posting it!
Glad it helped Robert! Thanks for watching!
dude you save me to pay a lot money y lost time wait the repair, your dental flush trick rules, thanks
Ricardo García Thanks for the comment Ricardo! Glad this helped you, ride safe!
Thank u so much, did my first ride of the season 2 days ago 265 miles, next day i found a small leak of antifreeze. Im gonna go to the auto store and get the o rings $3 for ten, stop at honda snd pickup new clips (they wanted 18$ for two orings :( and replace them.
Mines a 2000 vt1100 aero c3
Thank for watching and I hope the repair goes smoothly! The biggest issue I had (and others have had) is sometimes the crossover tube is a bit sticky and hard to get broken loose. Once you get it loose....the rest is better :)
Dennis Coffey just left the parts store gotta wait till tomorrow for the o rings and clips. Its so tight in there, went and got extra long needle noise pliers
That's a good idea....those long handled needle-nose pliers will definitely make this job easier!
I have a 2002 Honda Shadow 750 ACE VT750CDA and have the exact same issue with the solutions you've dimenstrated and did just fine. However where is the Coolant drain bolt located?
Thanks for watching, Fawkes! Some of these Ace models are a bit different. If yours is like mine, the drain bolt is at the bottom of the water pump....should be a 10mm bolt. Be careful to follow the manual's torques specs as overtightening will strip the threads when reinstalling the bolt. Also, remove or loosen the radiator cap when draining. If you don't, you'll get a vacuum and the coolant won't drain well. When refilling, you'll need to burp the system to get the air out.
Thank You! I have the same bike as well I started having this leak with about 48.000miles
I'm glad this helped! Mine started a little earlier than most at 20,000 miles, but I was also glad it turned out to be an easier job than I originally expected. Ride safe!
Fantastic video! I'm sure you saved me hundreds of dollars!!
Thanks for watching, Ryan! I hope you and you're bike are still going strong!
hey thnx for the crossover tube trick it was easy to do.. I got another problem tho with me 750 shadow ace. My front cylinder is blowing white smoke just when starting off after I stop every time. But doesn't do it when riding got any clue about this? Was thinking carbs need to be sync?
+Will Smith Thanks for the comment and I'm glad the video helped you with the crossover tube leak. It'd be hard to diagnose your smoke problem without being able to smell the exhaust, etc, but usually white smoke means oil is burning in the cylinder. That's usually not good news because it usually means oil is leaking into the cylinder through a valve seal or piston ring. If it's only showing smoke at first, the leak is probably small.
Thank you for this video. I was going crazy trying to figure it out!!!
Yes sir! Thanks for watching Bill and I hope it helped you get it worked out. Before I figured this out, I just knew I was going to have to take the top end apart. :)
Thanks I thought I was in trouble good video I have a 04 aero good job
Thanks! I'm glad to know this helped.
Great video. thanks for sharing
Thanks very much for watching and for your kind words!
I have the exact same bike...can you tell me what size wrench I need to remove the oil pan plug to do oil change? Also, what size socket do I need to change the spark plugs?
Yes sir, as I show in the video, the oil drain plug is 17mm. I use the spark plug wrench in the toolkit, so not sure what size it is, but I believe it is a standard Honda size of 18mm.
You are the best homie!!! Thank you so much for this video. Everything I needed to know is right here in your video. My exact issue. Thanks from Florida!
Thank you sir!! I appreciate it and thanks for watching!
Thanks Dennis, Excellent Video !!!! '03 Honda Shadow Spirit VT750
Thanks Louis. I appreciate your comment and if you have to do this repair, I hope it goes well! Ride safe!
This is the same as my 1100 Shadow Sabre. I don't have the choke in the way tho. Thanks for the video.
+JIM MCPHERSON Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Thanks for the video! Exactly what I was looking for. Do you have a video for tightening the chain on a VT750 also?
Thanks for watching, I hope you and your bike are still going strong! I do have a vid showing how to tighten the chain.
1997 shadow ace here. Looks like i have the same problem. Did a 200 mile ride and noticed leaking and an empty coolant tank because the fan did not turn on because of said empty tank. So my temp light went on. Shop said it would be rediculous expensive to disassemble the whole motor. I will try your solution. If this works you would have saved my bike. Thanks in advance. Is there any chance the o ring could come loose and drop into the cylinder?
I hope this fixes your bike up. There is an outside chance, but the o-rings are usually stuck to the crossover tube real well, so not likely. Thanks for watching!
you're about to save me $1300, thank you sir
+fuserman3457 Thanks for the comment and really glad I could help sir!!
Just order my parts thank you for advice big time and money saver. 2000 ace custom bobber chop
Thanks for watching, Pablo! I'm glad this helped!
I have a 2000 ACE with 151,000 km on her. 137,000 are mine. Although she's going into the shop for a fork repair, carb rejetting in two weeks. Her idiot temperature light just came on. So I will see what I can deduce as to why. Usually after about 50 km. So I will keep this in mind. Hoping is just a low fluid level and not a blown water pump.
Thanks for watching! Yes, hopefully it just needs a little coolant and not a water pump!
Thank you for good advice well done 👍🏼
Thank you Rafid! I appreciate you watching!
Do you take out all the coolant out of the reservoir also or you let it leak whats in the cillinder ? Please let me know I wanna do this to my bike allready have new o rings and clips
Thanks for watching, Phil! I did not drain my coolant. Mine only leaked a small amount out of the the crossover tube, so I only had to add a small amount into the reservoir. If you leak a significant amount, the radiator cap is just under the gas tank on the right side. You can remove the seat, remove the gas tank bolt and move the tank just a little to get to the radiator cap, then fill the radiator if needed.
The tube on my 02 Shadow 750 will not move, what to do Dennis?
Mine was very difficult to get it to move at first. If it absolutely will not move, you'll have to take the cylinder covers off to see if that will give you enough access. If it still won't, you might have to pull the cylinders.
Will this apply to a VTX 1800? (7 years after video super useful )
Thank you for watching! I'm sorry but I'm not familiar at all with the VTX1800...never worked on one, so I don't know if it has the same crossover tube issue.
Thank you so much for your video. It really helped out a lot!
