I'll bet there are some country locations where people could hear the roar in the distance and be able to get to the station from home in time to catch it.
Absolutely the best video of these short sets I've seen! I know the line and places well, so it'll be sad not to be able to see then or window hang behind them any more... I feel like I should release my last ever video of them now - back in April.
What great looking locos....I can remember seeing D6700 and D6702, stabled at Stratford works prior to main line running. They were brand new in their all green livery. We used to go to the school boy football at Wembley just because we knew that the route took us through Stratford works, and via North Acton sheds....great days remembered.
Well, I just don't know what to say anymore!!!!! This is a fantastic video, expertly compiled, with titled information at every location. Talking of locations, they were very well chosen in this video, which makes viewing that much more enjoyable. A truly remarkable record....set on video...of these short sets. I take my hat off to the pair of you...well done Paul (Dad), for taking time to spend with your Son, and showing the same interest, and well done Cameron (Son) for making a superb job of the editing. I cannot think of any other father & son who have this bond....it is invaluable.
An interesting, beautifully-filmed and very poignant reminder of the last few years of Class 37 thrash. Also a good record of the Wherry Lines' old-style signalling and crossings before they are swept away by the tide of progress. The Yare Valley will never be the same again. Thanks for your brilliant work producing this great video.
Not just a great video but also includes the important details of where and when and the TOPS IDs, owners and operators. This is what makes for a proper and useful historical record.
Classy video recording of these classic machines. I love that the driver tootled out of Yarmouth then opened up right on cue. Top driver. Also I really liked the ending to this video, 37's of into the sunset. Brilliant, well done fellas. 👍🏼
that sound at 1:00 when was kid u could hear them in cardiff, running late night along Gabalfa tracks to steel mill pulling coal in the distance...miss those sounds... when we went to gabalfa "Roath Yards" drivers let us have a ride if their inspector wasnt about...shunting old wagons into sidings...great days and old 08`s
Thank you so much sir for posting this wonderful video, driver wave at 12.03 nice to see! also went to Norwich last wednesday 24th july, but i was too late due to later trains being cancelled.Went again saturday 26th and got lucky,37s worked all day.Big thank you again, you have really captured these magnificent engines perfectly.
Thanks Tracey, glad you enjoyed the video :) I went for a trip behind them on Wednesday 24th July and then went to film them at Cantley & Reedham but arrived to find a Class 156 DMU replacing them on their service :( Great to hear you got on them on Saturday :)
It was really sad to see it. We filmed all week, from various locations including from inside the coaches, the Norwich to Lowestoft run had been cancelled for the previous 4 days, we tried one last time last Friday to get them which luckily paid off. Wonderful diesel locomotives that will be very sadly missed.
Sad to see them stop running, but at least I still get to drive them, on this route, on train simulator! And at some point I need to get to Cardiff Central...
Still going strong in Cardiff m8 two here in Canton depot still doing the bizz 37025 and 37421 to name 2,tfw say they will kepp em on valle duty...really hope so
Very enjoyable video, thanks. One wonders about the economics of employing two 37s and 2 carriages, but it makes a rare and pleasing display of these wonderful old workhorses. I had a Hornby model as a teen and I'm now nearly 65! I doubt the Swiss built 755s will be anything as interesting, although having seen them, they're a little less 'bland' than so many of the new generation multiple units.
You would think so but having two engines means 1: no fuel and time wasted running round at the end and 2: the train gets up to speed much quicker therefore can shut off more quickly so shouldn't use any more fuel. More emissions yes, but for less time.
Interesting to see this. I had heard of these short sets but being new to the area never managed to see them. I’d be interested to know how the rear loco was controlled as both seem to be in power. 3500 hp does seem to be a lot of power for just three coaches. Earlier in the year I was walking my dog at Burgh Castle and I saw passing Barney Arms what was the inspection saloon and coaches with a 37 on the rear.I assume these diesels are still about in the area.
So what becomes of the 37's now? I'm guessing the "Large Logo" 37 returns to its owners (preservation, I'm guessing), but will the coaches find other work? It'd be nice to see another loco-hauled job running regularly somewhere nearer to one of the major cities, making it a bit easier for non-Brits such as myself to find.
3,500 HP seems a tad excessive for 2 - 3 coaches! 17:34 - as a boy on holiday on the Norfolk Broads in the late 60's and early 70's I used to stand on that very spot and watch the trains crossing Reedham Swing Bridge - such memories!
These are magnificent locomotives! Sad to see that environmental concerns and upgrading to more efficient motive power mean that some will never get a chance to ride on carriages pulled by these locomotives! That's the price of progress I guess! It's a vicious cycle people who travel regularly should take every opportunity to get footage of these units while they are still in service! You never know when you might see the last of them!
it was fun i got 37419 and whatever 37 was on the back in the morning and got 86004 and 68008 in the afternoon how about that albeit 2 and a bit years ago
You just can’t beat the sound of a 37
And just as important - you can't beat great audio !
Best I've ever heard these ol' girls sounding .
The shot at 17:55 is a definite award winner...just gorgeous.
We regularly hear these great beasts across the marsh at Langley. We'll miss their powerful roar. Thanks for recording passing history.
Thanks Ronnie :) They certainly make a racket :) They’ll certainly be missed in East Anglia :(
I'll bet there are some country locations where people could hear the roar in the distance and be able to get to the station from home in time to catch it.
@@florencegomer7937 Not for us though. 3 miles away over grazing marshes and swimming the river Yare!

Rest in Peace the short set.
May all the happy journeys and thrashy times be remembered.
Long live the 37!

Fantastic video. Well done and thank you for sharing. It good now think how we will look back on this is 10 20 and 50 years time.
Those 37`s are beasts of machines and well looked after too
comprehensive coverage, great team work on the videoing. Thanks for sharing
Thanks, great video. Love the Broads and the railways. Sad we'll not hear these anymore as we mess about in boats.
Thanks Iain, glad you enjoyed the video :)

@clanline35028 did you ever manage to see them at Cardiff?
Such a great video best thing in my life trains 🚞
compelling and evocative - Thanks to Rail view for posting
Fascinating...never knew this quirky line existed. Probably the most overpowered train in Britain! Would make a great Steam route.
Even more overpowered when the 68s worked those diagrams in T&T multiple mode!
Very nice :)
Thanks Simon :)
Wonderful!
Good old 37s very good video got a oo scale model of it with sound
Thanks Richard! Glad you enjoyed the video! Fantastic! Gotta love the Class 37s :)

I think TfW (Transport for Wales) has plans for them
Good news there, then! I shall keep watching (from the colonies!) with interest!

They just get more amazing Cameron amazing - Andrew McK
Thanks Andrew, glad you enjoyed the video! :)
Amazing, sad to see them go. Wish more were put to good use on passenger rather than being withdrawn
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video! Certainly is very sad to see them go :( They’ll be missed :(
The 50 Basher you should buy them
@@caseyjones4849 why?
These 37s will move on to other duties I'm sure.As has been said elsewhere,l think Transport for Wales are interested.Too good for retirement😎👍!

I thought that all of the Greater Anglia Network was electrified, never knew they ran diesel units too,
Is having two engines pull three carriages because the engines can no longer move to the front at GY for the return to Norwich?
Peter Correct.
Were the 2 37s working in multiple or was the rear power unit always dragged?
Working together
it was fun
i got 37419 and whatever 37 was on the back in the morning and got 86004 and 68008 in the afternoon how about that albeit 2 and a bit years ago
What's a class 86 doing out in Norfolk? Jokes aside I think you meant 68004.
@@mr-rio2819 68004😂
Why two diesels each end of a 3 car passenger set? Overweight, fully loaded passengers?
Josephine Bennington It’s because the train can switch ends easier if they have a diesel at each end.
PlaxtonPresident . Do what they like, out behind Norwich, eh? Nobody knows what they be doing. Charging for two locos. Nice little earner.
Man you can almost taste all those hydrocarbons!
I don't get the point of running top and tail, is it really that hard to run around the train?
So sad :( but in Train Simulator they will live forever.
Why did they withdraw them?
Why is there one at each end of so few coaches?
Roger Smart It saves on turn around time at each end.
@@johnpiper3416 ah, yes, thank you!
it seems odd to see a pair of 37s with just 3 coaches, a pair can pull at least 2500 tons on the level!
That’s what I was thinking 🤔
Preservationists open their arms to these 37s.
That must surely be one of the very last manual level crossings in the country?!
one near hilton crewe Derby Line
Also,so much nicer without all the awful overhead wires and gantry's.
What is happening
so replacing these brilliant sounding and looking class 37's with some dull, boring modern train :( :( :(
They sadly are :(
I used to love seeing them on the Cumbrian coast. Shame they are also stopping them here also.
