“[...] Before Drummond and Cauty allegedly burned a million pounds on the Scottish Isle of Jura, they first tried to sell £1,000,000 nailed to a board to London’s Tate Gallery for £750,000. The Tate said it was a security risk, despite the K Foundation pointing out that they would immediately make a profit of a quarter of a million, which they could use to buy some ‘real’ art. [...]”

Immoral, should have given the million pounds to charity. In the end, Drummond's a showoff just like other entertainers, that's how it is.

Instead of creating any value by spending money, showing their stupidity by burning one million pounds is useless.

It's not about excess and saying 'well I have so much anyway, what do I need more for?'. It was about breaking free from the master/slave relationship we all (quite willingly and desperately) have with money.

Guys - the reason they did it was because they (The KLF) had a lot of money very quickly, and, as a consequence of this, they realised that money is not something that makes you happy.
Having large amounts of money suddenly dumped into your bank accounts, and, everyone you know and have known up until that point in your life changing the way they see you WILL have an effect on your own personal viewpoint of 'self worth'.
How do you define your own value? By the money you got?
If the answer is "YES" then you are an OBJECT, if the answer is "NO" then you are a person.
They, simply speaking, did not think their value should be defined by the money they got, but as the people they are/were/shall be.
By burning the money, they were burning the perception of them as objects and, retained their value as people.
But - anyone with an once of brain power realises that just one visit to a psychologist would solve that problem, and not therefore need to manifest itself in reality to solve.
So yeah, that is what makes them amazingly stupid and amazingly smart in the same action.

I bet that he wakes up every single day and feels slightly nauseous when reality smashes home then the Scottish in hin struggles to fight back the tears while he makes a roll up out of the dumps in the ashtray...
All said and done it was their cash to do what they wanted with. However, with the famine across the world a million pounds could have gone to better use. For instance, medicine, food, clean water, education etc... something to look back on in years to come and feel proud knowing that your £1,000,000 was needed in Moo Moo Land...

Although KLF songs still get loads of radio play to this day so they more than likely still make plenty of cash from it, I've not heard Tasmin Archer's Sleeping Satellite since 1992 and the guy who wrote it with her says they've still never had to work a day in their life ever since with the radio play
