- Time to visit the most interesting store we have in Sweden, and maybe even Scandinavia! This is Ploppsi, a toy and video games store from the 90s that has been both opened and closed after all these years.
We get to meet the Store Owner "Omran" who according to some people, has been sitting and hoarding these video games and toys for a long time. Lots of games are still stuck here since the 90s.
So let's do some Retro Game Hunting by digging deep into the shelves and finding the golden games.

Yea haha! So exciting, yet so sad xD I really dont understand whats going through the head of the store owner. He is obviously a collector himself. He told me everything in there is nostalgia for him. But he doesn't seem to have any sense of care for the stuff at the same time. It's strange.

Jo men precis, finns ju tecken på det. Men har för mig att han sa för några år sen i en video att butiken startades för frugan ville inte att han skulle ha massa grejer hemma.
I love the Japan hunt videos but these hunts in Sweden are really cool as well!

Exactly! Wouldve been fun to help clean the place up. He also doesnt want ship online. I think thats also something to consider if you want to run it as a full time business.
Oh man, I didn't expect Garou! That one game stole Ploppsi's thunder. Still, it's a pretty neat shop. I do enjoy shops that have everything scattered about. Also, strange that Mega Man X Command Mission had no screenshots on the back cover. Thanks for sharing, cheers!

This was a fun video. Crazy that everything is just in piles but part of the fun of finding lost treasure. Boat Eliminator Dual is an after-market game that's fantastic. I've never seen the original cart. Bionic Commando is great. Completed it when I was a kid and it seems like you got a great for it CIB. That was quite the score you got for Neo Geo. Proves you don't have to be a millionaire to Collect Neo Geo, just some luck and patience for good deals.

Oh yes! Been wanting Garou for a very long time so feels crazy that I was able to obtain it. Yea, most Neo Geo collectors I know are not rich. They just know how to prioritize, save and budget things.

Usually shops like these only still have lots of games as they are over priced. But it appears the shop owner gave a fair deal.
True that. He is a bit tricky with the prices. I think that the games that has a personal value to him seems a bit more expensive because of that matter.
But its possible to negotiate with him. He still gives people good deals, especially if you buy several games.

Great games you picked up! Just saw the gameplays all good i once was thinking of picking up parasite eve. The boat one is fun just saw gameplay. Bionic is grear, too! Congrats on finding that neo geo game and trading a copy game you already have! :)

Parasite Eve is one of my favorite series. It started as a book written by Hideaki Sena, which is even creepier than the games in my opinion. The 1st game is my favorite easily, and the soundtrack is incredible. I’ve got a US copy and Japanese copy, but sold the book a while back. Hope you enjoy it!
Oh cool! I didnt know about that. And yea, Im really excited to try it out. Heard so many good things about it and seen tons of reviews for this game. I'm glad I could pick up a US copy of it, so it will definitely get played soon. And I'll pay attention to the music as well. Thanks!
Parasite eve 2 is the superior game. They also made a movie based on the book if you haven't seen it.
This store seems like you can spend an entire week there and still haven't seen everything. Anyway, I would be interested in checking out this store someday.

I don´t think I´ve been to Örebro, perhaps just passedthrough when traveling further north. Ploppsi seems like a very fun shop to visit, loads of stuff everywhere! Parasite Eve is very good. It´s much shorter than other Square games, just a couple of hours, but what´s in there is quality. Very much worth playing. I think Eliminator Boat Duel is pretty charming. Cobra Triangle is more varied and perhaps better, but it´s also really hard.
Its definitely a fun store to dig around in! Recommended to go there. You will always find something to buy.

Yea, I love the artwork on Elimantor Boat Duel. But in hindsight, I shouldve bought Cobra Triangle. Condition was better as well. I am actually auctioning out Eliminator Boat Duel now. Wasnt really for me.
Well, one has to prioritise and you got a very fine Bionic Commando there! I usually try buying boxes too, makes me buy fewer games with a chance of appreciating them more. ButI don’t mind worn out ones if they are priced thereafter. They feel like they have a history, not a life in a collectors case :) (Don’t mind a few in great shape either of course)
True that! I usually want the complete thing nowadays too. Feels better to have the full piece.
I agree. Worn ones with stickers definitely has a historical value to it. Love seeing notes in the manual and stuff like that. Well, to me, its an amazing feeling to hold a brand new game from 80's or 90s. Its like you just came home from the store getting a new game in another time.

Honestly, prices were all over the place. But its hard to keep up with prices nowdays. If you make a bundle of games you will most of the times get a good deal! So I would give him a thumbs up for prices.
Parasite eve! The first game it's the best one. I know you'll enjoy it.
It is a shame about the dispute the books author had with Squre, leading him to take the license away.
Oh yes! I think so too. I wish I knew about it back in the day, but glad I have it now. Better late than never.
Are the books released in English? Oh I see. I guess that killed the series then.
@@RetroMoments it was in Japanese only, until about the early 2000s when it did get an English translation.
There is also a movie as well.
And yes pretty much killed it off, that's why the 2010 spin off isnt even called parasite eve.

I think people saying this is cozy & charming are dead wrong, this is a horrible way to display games and run a business, honestly surprised people are ok with this.
If we put focus and perspective on the games that we should preserve in the best possible way, this is definitely wrong. But I think a lot of people see this store as an adventure to game hunt in!

yes and no. in one sense I think he should clean up in another a bit of the charm is digging through stuff and finding something. it gives that fleamarket/warehouse vibe to me atleast.
As a guy born in the 80s I remember going through some stores in the 90s with my mom and while not a mess like this, they definitely didnt look like modern retailers does today, you woukld go through bins of games nobody bought and boxes sometimes. Yes, I literally went in to buy for ex final fantasy 9 back in 2001 here in Sweden and came out with a boxed mega man 3 for the nes, a gameboy color and links awakening as well. You could find great deals on used games back then at stores. In fact, it wasnt classified as "retro" it was just "left overs" or used games nobody wanted anymore for cheap pick ups just taking space in a bin or in a box. I said this before, but even here in Sweden gamecube games were being sold out for 50-100 kr (5-10 dollar) during the wii era, great games like skies of arcadia, fire emblem, mario thousand doors and people still didnt buy them until scalpers cleaned house years later and now they cry about retro being "expensive" they will do the same about wii and switch games in a decade, wait and see!
Its an amazing way of keeping a store, Its an unique way. Not like your boring nice everything in order stores. Omran had this store since the 90's !!! And hes doing good. Also Omrans store is tiny. Its impressive he got this manny games. And the storage area behinde that little curtain is jampacked as well. And Adam your too gentle, just pull out thoese rows of games. 😁
