Not to brag or anything, but on my walk today, it was a nice 70⁰ F or 21⁰ C and sunny! Before my injury 4 years ago while on the road, on my resets, I would clean out my truck (vacuum, scrub the floor even tho I had rugs down, clean the inside windows, wipe everything down, organize). Do laundry and find a store to resupply my groceries and then meal prep for the week. Truck stops don't carry many healthy vegan options. And any paperwork I might have had, I'd get caught up on that. When that was all said and done, if time allowed, I'd crochet or just chill. Talk to the hubs when he wasn't at work. Shoulder surgery #4 in less than 2 weeks away, just hoping to get back on the road after that. Stay safe!
Josh, I used to go to the afternoon matinee it's usually half price 😊. Plus not crowded at all.
What to do on your reset. I used to clean the truck, go for walks and go to restaurants. I saw lots of drivers carry books with them that they read in their down time. No Netflix back then. A lot of drivers from my company went to a nearby movie theatre when we had to reset in Mississauga at the Kennedy Rd. S. Husky. I live in the Lower Mainland and hardly ever miss my walks because of rain because I own a breathable, water proof jacket. An umbrella will also work. It was a pretty wet May, even for here. Safe travels!
I go to sleep 😴 💤 like a 🐻 for 34,hrs until . days 😅😅
Josh , Typical British Columbia Spring Weather
I sleep, read, watch Netflix and clean my truck. Sometimes I get a hotel room to relax and get out of the truck for a bit.
A good way to occupy yourself and pass the time.
Not a trucker but im sure i could find many small projects to fix or change out on the truck. Time would go by quicker & appreciate the accomplishment.
I wake up a bit late, enjoy a big French press coffee. Then usually try to find a local diner and bobtail over for a nice breakfast/ brunch. Do my laundry at a local laundromat, go grocery shopping. Head back to the truck and do a good weekly cleaning in the cab, then if I have time try to find a good movie on Netflix etc. Boring but necessary.
You need Apu Josh I never did like to idle my motor
well I went for a walk and just starting to feel better to walk, but I still have to have my oxygen with me at all times. I quit smoking cigarettes 6 months ago, lungs can't handle it. plus I have C.O.P.D and asthma, so I had to quit. but yes I'm happy and gonna keep trucking on with walking and getting my lungs back to where I don't need oxygen anymore. thankyou for pushing that out there for as walking bit. much love ❤️ ❤❤❤❤❤
The worse part of trucking is the waiting.
There's a lot of bad aspects to trucking. Hopefully you are not serious.
Not when you're paid by the hour.
@@justinmcnaughton3016 I'm paid by the hour and home almost every night, in my 579 Pete sleeper. I was going out of my mind after 2 years otr. I can handle the bs now. I'm in my 3rd year local and hourly. 👍👍
Stock truck with food laundry clean truck up then play some video games maybe few movies on TV in truck
ELD’s weren’t invented when I was driving trucks. Paper logs only.
Bring back paper logs.
When I was over the road I would play DnD Saturday for 12hrs. Then would wake Sunday clean and then start driving again
In the States I would sleep in the first day ( sleeping in to me was 45 minutes up to a mind boggling 2 hours). Then go inside and if they had a sure enough restaurant I would get a decent breakfast and take my time and enjoy it. Then a pretty long shower ( if there wasn't a line at the shower desk).
Then the fun begins. Strip the bunk and gather all the dirty clothes and towels. Then wash, dry, fold and put away the clean stuff into a recently cleaned area of the truck. Then wipe and clean everything I could including windows especially the inside beings I'm a nasty smoker. Weather permitting do a really good extended walkaround. Checking the tires with a guage. Even if I have a clean spot on the ground I'll check it fluid levels in all the boxes. If the ground is nasty I'll make double sure the next fluid change does it. Hopefully get that all done in one day. Spoiler alert, usually the asphalt isn't clean enough to walk on never mind crawling on It.
The second day I veg out knowing the truck is in good shape. I'll watch TV in the lounge if something worth while watching. Or I'll set in the restraints at the counter if they have one and swap lies with the old timers. Mostly listen to the wisdom they offer or the bullshit the rookies are talking about. Eat a nice dinner ( if there is a decent restaurant). Then back to the truck and watch a little bit of RUclips or something. Then off to bed after I checked my route if I have a load.
Depends on how dirty the truck is depending on what I do. Truck has to be clean for me to truck comfortable.
6 years i have only done a 34 reset a few times when it wasn't forced due to breakdown/repairs. I always run recaps. Ithe few times its been somewhere i was at a company terminal. So i have a gym, showers and laundry there. Plus get delivery of supplies for truck from Walmart if one i cant bobtail to. I also Uber to museums and stuff to do
That's positively beach weather, try living in the SW of UK
Was doing reset in TN for last weekend so booked rental car and spent time in Smokey Hill National Park as Prairie boy knows those ain't mountains 😅
Josh why do you think it's so green out there 😂. It's not always raining it's spring time, summer it's dry hot and sunny 😎.
It's it worth sitting for 2.5 days instead of being home
Weekends home or in a motel/ hotel. 48 years never sit in my truck. Sometimes even rent a car. But i dont haul cheap freight so no worries about movies or hotels. Only live one time life to short to sit in my truck.
At hotel i will clean truck like i do at home.
Wife knows trucking is 6 day a week job.
She likes our vehicles, home and toys paid for and retire at 58. Enjoy the truck stop 😎
On my reset. I clean go for walks excersise laundry meal prep or just veg out n watch youtube etc.
Hey Josh here in Brazil we don't do a reset just run, run and run. Saturday sunday anyway! I rest when I waiting to load and unload my truck or when I an at home.
Here in Canada we also run and run our season is so short, we don't shut down because of weekends, seven days a week in good weather until finished. Our reset is when it rains or snow storms. We make hay and deliver an hour or so away, also feed our own
Resets are when the truck interior gets cleaned and organized. (Including laundry, organize the cold box, straps, chains, lube binders, etc.) At least one good meal.
On “reset” as you North Americans call it 😅 wash truck of there’s the possibility of clean inside catch up on your videos 👍🏻 grease truck and trailers and other basic maintance and other little jobs I can do with what I have where ever I am, food shopping, wash clothes etc and stuff like that. Currently in your situation sitting for the weekend in Townsville QLD Australia. With lovely winter day at 28 degrees C yes that is the top temp
Hello. Enjoy your time in Metro Vancouver. Not much fun walking in heavy rain.Lots of city parks to walk in trails.
You are in Vancouver , go be a tourist and take in the sights
Hey Josh can you split your sleeper I think its called that in Canada -Robert J OKC
I walk as much as possible. Flagstaff az is my biggest go to when I can. My record for a day is 20 miles walking around that city.
I only take a reset when I go home. take that as you will. lol
Here in the uk/EU we can only work for 56 hours in a week and a maximum of 90 hours in a two week period, we have to take a break of 45 hour's at the end of our working week which we can reduce to 24 hours a long as we make up the time by the end of the 3rd week, we are not permitted to spend 45 hour breaks in the lorry so either have to be home or in a hotel, I usually do the same as you, walk, read, watch a bit of TV, clean the lorry and catch up on sleep..
Hopefully the wage is twice as high.
What a beautiful truck you have ❤❤❤
6 Months of Rain from Oct to Early Feb & On My Resets I was at Home or at a Truckstop Drinking Beer in my Sleeper or Drinking Coffee & visiting with other Truck Drivers
Unfortunately when the wheels aren't turning you're not earning
So many things to check underneath, greasing, fix faulty wire connection there's always something, when raining go take cat naps
It's Florida weather
read, movies and my ps5
Cool intro!
Enjoy your vlogs Mr. Josh, keep up the good work. Went to Vctoria on those transports ships in 2005, beautiful state. Saying hello from Menifee, California, great weather !!
I used to watch dvds in my bunk, I've lived in British Columbia my whole life so i have to ask, what the hell are "winter jeans"?
My favorite reset was loading french fries in the winter at Park Rapids Minnesota going to West Palm Beach Florida. I'd bobtail to a motel on the beach.
When i drove i worked on music im a producer/singersongwriter/ audio engineer ...had a full gaming pc on the truck so gamed with friends ....when the truck was in shop and had weeks at a time off i would rent a car and explore alot go see comedy shows or live music bars
I never have to reset but ideally I try to get to the track 12-24 hrs before we have to park in case I have trouble on the road. Like my west coast trip via Phoenix I got to Phoenix a day early so I did the same thing you are doing, went thru everything in the the truck and super cleaned everything. Felt good to have the truck spotless inside.
Stay safe
At this moment I am doing an unintentional 34 since freight is soft this area. But usually when I do normally is clean the cab of the truck, take out trash, do laundry, play video games on the laptop or steam deck, if the area is good for it do a walk, and with the eagle rider membership and if theres one, rent out a motorcycle and ride around the city.
70 hr is nuts truckers need a good union Thanks for the video. Safe travels
The time really spent is more than 70 when you look at loafing and unloading times or waiting on loads I got out if it because I wanted a real life... avg driver makes like 20 an hour when you realistically factor in all the real time involved but no one looks at the big picture when they get that settlement at the end of the week it's really not worth it the amount of life ya miss out on is a waist of life
Fortunately I don’t have to do resets that often, usually run recaps. But when it does happen I catch up on truck maintenance and deep cleaning. Read, do walks, explore the area depending on the location.
Way back before cell phones when I was running over the road, I would read or build a model if I had one with me, Clean the truck, sometimes I'd just sit and people watch, thats always entertaining!
Your probably aware on day 8 log u subtract day 1 etc heh? Could possibly work total 14 day
Hi Trucker Josh we have a lot of rain this weekend all so went Grocery shopping and got back home husband and I are staying inside this weekend it's been raining heavy here in Michigan all weekend stay safe and have a good weekend even if it's in Old Blue and you will be ready for Monday god bless
Sorry Trucker Josh but the weather on the lower BC coast has had a very cool spring. Don't be fool the warmer weather is coming.
Heavy rain warning for lower mainland Sunday night ,after the horrible fires we've had the last 3 summers the rain is a welcome friend, last june it was in the mid 90s
There’s another statement you should add to your new slogan into BC which is you’re calling it is bring cash you should also be saying bring your own umbrella because it rains there all the time from what I’ve heard
I don’t think I would do that. I find something to do if I was driving I am and I was on the road for a reset which at one point if I wasn’t disabled in my career, I’d probably be on the road for a reset or at least a couple of them, I think idea you know clean the truck probably go to a mall or go to a movie or do something I don’t think I’d sit in the seat all weekend and stare at the windshield lol could you do that and during the week when you’re driving?
Going in and exploring a town while you're sitting there for that long is a good idea, but you have great plans also. Spring cleaning!
Thanks for the short video today... it's always good to see what you're up to in Ol' Blue.
That truck is your 2nd home! Great place to hang out for sure!!
Hi Josh I wonder what this video will bring to me😊

Please tell me you don't have to idle until Monday. 🥺
Play video games or watch movies
I watch your videos 😊
Hey be safe out there Josh. Take care
Hey there Josh , Brit and Theo too !!
What year is your truck?
Movies and clean
The Coco hole is pretty cool
Do you have a APU or idle all weekend sir ?
He said in the video he just started the truck to charge the batteries and charge his computer. He doesn’t run it all weekend.
