Glad they got in before Ric died. And still sad Ben couldn't live to experience it
I hope Ben knew they would eventually get inducted. They had so much success to think otherwise.
Without The Cars New Wave 80's style may never have kicked off. This band was well ahead of the curve musically. Incredible lead guitarist, very musical in solo style
Their video for this song was very innovative for its time too …a masterpiece
Rest in Peace, the two big personalities of the Cars, Ben Orr and Ric Ocasek. May their spirits live on eternally through their music.
James Richards legends never ever die they live on forever. Benjamin’s spirit does and Ric’s. They live on period not just through music
Ashley Mellor as long as their names are spoken, they live on
@@jxmes301 yep!! Agreed!!
One of the most underrated bands ever Benjamin Orr RICK Ocasekk
Drive.
Elliot Easton is one of the most underrated soloists of the 80s.
He had a nice run in the 80's
And the seventies
He dang sure is. Here's to Elliot Easton on guitar. You are one of the best! - kimie
love his style.
He did a lot in those 20 seconds they gave him
Elliot Easton just puts a smile on my face. He's such an underrated guitarist. I love his style.
I always loved how Greg Hawks and Eliot Easton played together. They complimented each other perfectly.Easton was criminally under rated as a lead guitarists. He came up with so many great sounds.
The Cars need more recognition!
John Kazanowski getting into the RRHOF wasn’t enough?
They had PLENTY of recognition back in the 80’s. They were all over the radio. I assume you either weren’t alive then or were too young to remember. Having said that, I believe The Cars will go down in history as one of the best bands of all time.
The hall of fame isn't enough?
Do they need be in the automobile hall of fame too?
They sold tens of millions of vinyl, CDs and downloads. That’s a good indication of public appreciation I’d say.
They were a massive part of my younger years and still are today at 57
Me too! I'm 57 too
I remember my brother coming home on leave and introducing me to the cars. I've been a fan ever since. Seems sooooo long ago.
Same here.
Me to - 46 here
Count me in, I’m 57 too!
The Cars were my background music the late 70's in grammar school through high school. I love them. RIP Ric and go jam with Ben.
Elliot Easton is amazing! RIP Ben & Rick. Your music will live forever.
I've been playing guitar since the 1970's....I've played thousands of gigs. (Rock, country, blues, acoustic, R&B..you name it) And I can tell you Elliot Easton is one of the most under rated guitarists out there. His playing is imaginative, fun, humorous, technical, well constructed....especially his guitar solos. Each one is like a song within a song.
Damn. 1070’s. I never knew guitars were even invented back then. Lol.
Damn. 1070’s. I never knew guitars were even invented back then. Lol.
Agreed, his guitar interplay with keyboards is unequaled, even to this day!
🌹
He's one of the very very few who plays his solos identical identical identical to whats on the original albums.
The Cars were simply amazing. Every song they wrote was pure creativity. New sound that had never been and has never been matched. My band had the wonderful privilege of working with Greg in the studio. He produced a 4-song demo for us and spent countless hours in the studio to make sure we had a fantastic product to distribute. God bless Ben and Rick
Ben Orr was sorely missed at this gig
Drive was beautiful.
and Ric followed him not too far down the road. Sad.
@Mimico Graphix obviously meant after this performance as he died about a year later or so, no need to act smart ass lol
@@chrisdavis4149 my favorite
no kidding
EE is so underrated!
His solos are songs within the song. GENIUS
Love this band and Candy O one of the seminal songs of the period
Rest in Peace Ric Ocasek.
I have so many memories of The Cars. Drives, Parties, life and just listening to them. The 1980s ... The best of times.
The Car's are Rock Gods and always will be.
Stop it. “Gods” don’t die. They were very talented human beings that’s it. And the singer died from drugs …is that a “god” ??
The Bible says “ little children , keep yourselves from idols”
It was 1979 I was 8 years old when I first heard the cars. It’s one of those moments in your life you’ll never forget. I was heartbroken when Ben Orr died…. It felt like losing a close relative and I was even more devastated when Ric Ocasek died. Im so glad they made it to Hall of Fame….. they really deserve it. LONG LIVE THE CARS!
elliot's guitar lines here sound so great. and i love hearing greg and elliot singing for real and not faking like they used to make them with the background vocals
They are the Cars and now they are forever etched in history. They made the eighties rock and inspired us teens of Reagan years to dance. Farewell and thanks for the memories.
Elliot has such a great touch on guitar. Always plays such a solid lead and backing work....really makes the music shine.
THE CARS , THE 70s were loaded with great bands formed in the 70s ,
These guys totally embody Rock and Roll. Timelessness, commitment, a generational bridge of genres, and not taking themselves too seriously.
Elliot Easton is doing an awesome Roy Orbison impression. I saw Rik Ocasek in a store I worked at in 2010. Very softspoken, very unasuming except for an all white suit. Kind of stood out.
John Magin He sure loved crazy clothes. Everyone has their own style.
this made me chuckle heartily. "very unassuming except for an all white suit" haha!
Tall, gangly and in a white suit. So unassuming. “Kind of stood out” hahahaha! -Ya think?!? 🤣
LMAO, good one.
I once met Rik and his wife Paulina on a NYC Subway Platform. I agree, very unassuming, soft spoken.
now this is real music.
I can't believe Ben and Ric are gone.
No way to continue on now. Thank you
THE CARS for the wonderful music that we will always have until our dying day
Hey!
@@lukaspatrickson4776
Just when you think you have an original. I've probably had it longer. And and all likelihood older than you. So maybe consider changing yours to a cartoon rabbit or something
@@AlmostReady504 Why a cartoon rabbit? Why can’t we both have the same image?
Don't forget Elliot Easton. Great guitarist!
Near the end of the solo the drumming with guitar is superb
The Cars were so awesome
One of most underrated groups in Rock! Very consistently great sound and lyrics. Ric sounded so great here!
The Cars simply the best band forever.
Music used to be SO happy back then.
CUANDO HAY CALIDAD, HAY CALIDAD. CON CASI 70 AÑOS DE EDAD TOCAN EXCELENTE!!! ES THE CARS. TRIBUTO AL DESAPARECIDO BENJAMIN ORR (QEPD) LUEGO PARTIRIA DE ESTE MUNDO RICK OKASEK (DDG). BUENOS MUSICOS!!!!
Richard sounds AMAZING! Elliot Easton, one of the greatest guitar players out there! I'm glad Ric was still alive to be honored with he Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honors. Bummer Ben had already passed. RIP, RIC, AND BEN...
I was 4 years old when my dad showed me a vhs of The Cars for the first time, I liked it so much that when the tape ended I told him to put it back, my favorite song was this, I learned to put my videos and my parents always found me watching The Cars😂 Everyone at home was used to that vhs. I always said that someday I would travel and go to his concert, I did not, however, there are videos like this that make my 21 years old self think of that 4 years girl with her favorite video. They will always live in my heart❤️ Greetings from Peru🇵🇪
Sandra Rocío Limache Jacobo I love the Cars

Such a solid band. Even as a bunch of 70 year olds they sound great. So sad that Ben couldn't be there for their induction.
Great song. Always liked it.
My favorite band, I remember the times of school, crazy listening and enjoying, such beautiful music.
Голос звучит так же свежо , молодо как и 30 лет назад , браво.Жаль нет Бена ...
R.I.P. Ben & Ric. I believe you two are making good music in Heaven 2gether.
Don't bet on it lol
Lee, why not bet on it ? Because they didn’t believe in Jesus Christ ?
@@jerrybartlett7479 heard Orr was a nice guy. Ocasek... he didn't treat Paulina particularly well.
Great...Phenomenal Rock Band. R.I.P. ORR and OCASEK !!!
Only got to 88 in UK charts. Absolutely F######g unbelievable. Brilliant song, I heard this nearly every day on MTV .
The band of my youth. Cheers everyone.
Every part of every song is perfectly thought out and executed. Way ahead of its time songwriting
RIP Ben & Rick . so sad they are not with us today
The Cars were the most wonderful band ever 😃😃😃😃
Saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱
I was 18 when their first album came out. Something about them I liked and have been a Cars fan since. Very big part of my wild youth.
OH MY GOD NO, ANOTHER GREAT PERFORMER GOING TO THE CELESTIAL COURTS, RICK, IHOPE YOU MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE HEAVENLY ROCK BAND UP THERE IN THE INFINITEWITH BEN AND THE REST OF THE GANG
Pure class these guys. RIP Orr & Ocasek.
These guys were all very aged at this point, but they still sound great. The RRHOF is a joke, and this took way too long to put them in there.
I'm a RUSH fan. Welcome to the club.
Yes the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame is a fucking joke....and not at all a funny one
@@joshw6993 I mean the last time I went there they had free refills soooo
miss them good ole days for sure.rip ben and rick and my youth!!miss them all!!!
I had this next door neighbor in my apartment building in the late 70s who was obsessed with The Cars debut album. I liked it too but not 24-7. LOL
I love this version. I always come back to hear it again, and again. I've loved The Cars for about 40 years now, and hope to love them for another 40.
This version sucks. I get that they’re older now but this is way too slow.
@@callmetherineThat's why I like it
Ocasek looking forever young. The band still sounding great. Beautiful moment.
A very unique band.
I love the Cars and I love Weezer so this just amazing, Scott did a great job
Scott is such a great bass player!! I love them both

Congratulations guys! You deserved it! Thank you for all the awesome music.
God Bless the Cars! Absolutely loved them 😍
People keep saying that Elliot Easton was underated, I don't think that is true any longer. He is now legendary!
Always loved The Cars so much! Such a neat and rocking band!
RIP Ric and Ben!
Monster group with two great lead singers guitars and keyboards what's not to like. They will live forever for their musical accomplishments.
I watched the video of these guys at live aid in the 80's, jeez havent we all got older! Great talent....
////__ ....y esta fue de las últimas veces que vimos en concierto al Gran Rick Ocasek😢😢😢😢
Ric sounds absolutely great. Such an unmistakable unique voice. NOBODY sounds like the great.
I was a teenager when they released their first album and i've always liked them ever since, lately i've rediscovered them and only listen to their music...
Time eventual gets us all. Thanks for the Wonderful Sounds!!!
Remember those days when I was a grader...my aunt used to replay the car's tape side a and b...gold old days
Love The Cars. Music was great during that decade. My favorite song 🎶.
I truly regret not being able to see/hear The Cars perform live. My absolute favorite band from the 80’s and top 5 all time. RIP Ben @ Ric. Love these guys and thank you for the music 🤘🏻😎
One of the best band existed in my book. huge respect for them and their music.
Great band, they wrote some great songs. Thank you! 👍
Always appreciated their unique sound, rock edge, and their videos were some of the best ever. I believe this songs video beat out thriller for video of the year on mtv
Always had to work when they were around and never got to see them "live". I remember driving up Highway 1 to a restaurant listening to those guys and enjoying life. I had the cassette then. Got them on the old ipod now. Life is good and their sound is still great !!!!!!!
I saw them live at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto in the early 80’s and have always loved these guys. Since the mid-late 70’s The Cars have been in my personal Top 5 ever since!
Amazing,I love THE CARS ❤️
