Despite how they may look now, these effects were pretty advanced for the time, and even today, there's still something of a charm to them. And in spite of the stalker-ish vibe that might be a turn off to some people, this is still a very fun video to a great 80s classic. I love The Cars!
One thing, though, is there a way to get rid of those damn distracting video recommendation screens? It really gets in the way of the video's ending.
It is interesting looking at it…it basically resembles what RUclips looks like in some places, just more advanced home production.
im gussing that this was just normal in the 80s, it kinda adds to the charm
I was just about to essentially post the same thing! Weird where the cutting-edge USED to be!
The best loved them 61 gal
Hey it was a damn good video visually speaking compared to the majority in it's day...this could be released today and I think it would hold it's weight
In 1979, The Cars were so electric. Long live Ric and Ben in our memories.
@@genemars5158 he meant the band not the physical object of a car.
Actually, the cars are electric now.😊
You might think I'm crazy, but I will love this 80's classic forever!!! 😍👍😍
I think you're perfectly sane.
@@keythdanielsen8316 do you think so? 😉 thanks a lot... 🌞🌈🌞
@@michelleprie2854 Sure, Melody. Glad to see you're still hanging around a year later.
@@keythdanielsen8316 the power of the 80s always brings me back here. Beautiful childhood memories. Happy sunday, dear Keyth... warm greetings from Austria/Europe!!! 🌞🍁🌞
@@michelleprie2854 And greetings back from beautiful Washington state. Almost 1 am here. Time fo a little snoozing.
This was played every 5 minutes on the radio and MTV back in the day. I got so tired of it that I couldn't appreciate how truly great it is. Now I can appreciate it more!
Just get burnt out on it ya know. I remember when this premiered on MTV. It's entertaining the first idk 10 times you see it but once you get to around the 150th time in a two week period that's a bit much. They did this all the time with the premiere videos and radio stations. About once an hour they'd show the video or play the song.
Loved the 80's! My teenager life of the 80's was the best ever! The saddest part is that those times are past and will never come back of our life's again
Denver Gunner i miss them dearly today the 🌎 is shit
juice Am 14 any advice?
Yes don't get married and take care of your teeth. I'm 39 and never took care of my teeth its a nightmare now. So look after them.
@@thatguyfromthecornerstore8569 I'm 46. Don't get married and don't get children. I don't get it. Life is too short. Spend your life having fun, girls, traveling, partying. Do what you like to do and don't care about what people say. And don't have a boss.
At least you were there. Music today sucks.
First Eddie and now Ric RIP to the legendary Mr Ocasek and thanks for share your raw talent with all of us 🎸😥
When Heartbeat City came out in 1984, I bought the Cassette & played it over & over like many back then driving between 2 jobs from Streetsboro to Fairlawn/Akron, Ohio Until my Cars Cassette deck ate the Tape!, Wow, those were the days & this bands music is so Timeless & Still sounds Fresh,..R.i.P. Rick Ocasek & Benjamin Orr (from Cleveland, Ohio.
My name is Harry, I would love to go back into a time machine so badly. The 80"s rule for ever and ever. I was only 7 years old when this song came on the radio.
1977
your wher born in 1977 what mouth
+david williams I was born in June 1977, this song must be from the early 80's .. I remember it because my mom loved it
+harry Hand I was born 12 12 66 and love this song as well
+harry Hand I was older you twice. I seen this song on sovetic TV on 1987 via "what's a matter is a music videoclip" by mr. GORBY's "perestroika" and "glastnost".... So, it was incredible Billy Joel's music tour on Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
damn!!!!!!! rip Rick...the music world wont be the same without you !!! At least we have all these awesome songs from you and the cars to live on forever
it was groups/bands artists like Ric, Belinda, Def Leppard, Blondie and many others that just made every summer feel like magic. So grateful for all their wonderful musical contributions and for making it so enjoyable to love life as a teenager.
This music video is the most creative and cutting edge video of the Reagan Eighties!
I can’t believe he’s gone.RIP❤️
Heard this song last night at work....hadn’t heard it for years and felt good....long live the 80s....R.I.P. Ric Ocasek....

@GOD OF ART YES PLEASE! 😁
Why do I see you jn every comment section with the same comment?!?!
Keep in mind this was done in 1984. I don't wanna know how many weeks a poor PC was rendering this. xD
@@kyoudaiken Cares came out in 2008 so how was the song released back in 1984?
This might be the most catchy song of the 80s. Has such a great beat, melody and hook.
TIMELESS, one of the best videos ever, the concept, the humor... Rick Ocasek´s music marked my life
Everyone saying RIP to Ric, don't forget about Benjamin Orr. He sang some of the most iconic cars songs as well. RIP to them both.
the first time I heard this song was when I was a little kid watching Cars 2, now all these years later, Cars 2 is still one of my favourite movies and the Cars are still one of my favourite bands
Cars 2 came out 8 years ago. You're still a little kid.
@@THX-vx8vm Actually Im in my Junior year of high school so Im not a little kid DUDE

Hi I recommend an indie song called 'Looking Into The Mirror' By Robert Nix
Alot of great songs embedded in my head from the cars🔊🔊🔊🔊
RIP Ric Ocasek, one of the innovators of new wave rock! Loved the Cars growing up in the 80s!
Rest in sweet peace Ric ❤️❤️ thank you for the music and the memories ❤️❤️

One of the greatest videos of all time to accompany an incredible pop masterpiece. A great loss to the world.
My first exposure to the Cars was the television show Fridays, 1980. I was 12. Feel in love with their music immediately, god I miss being young. RIP Ric and Ben, you gave me so many great memories.

This song is awesome
New music can’t even compare
On days when I'm having trouble getting out of bed, this is one of my go-to wakeup songs! 😊🎵🎶🎵 It along with "Magic" bring back wonderful childhood memories of summer vacations to visit family in Texas, as it was regularly played on the radio stations (through my wee Walkman headphones) over the 600 mile car trip. The musical creativity of those days was indeed unlike any other in history. 💜
You must not work 😂😂😂😂
@@aishamarquez211 , unfortunately, I actually don’t work anymore due to health issues that continually worsened after a car incident with injury in 2010. I managed to work four additional years afterwards before pain & debilitating sleep disorder totally stole life as I’d known it prior & I became physically disabled. Not sure why someone not working would be funny? 🤔 It’s definitely not the life I would have chosen, but I try to stay positive nonetheless. 😉👍
Rest in noise, Ric Ocasek; thanks for all the sweet tunes!!!
Wished we all could have stayed in the 80s. It's tough now being 51 in 2019. Nothing makes sense.
Man I was 17 when this came out. Can't believe 35 years went by like that.
same here , doesnt even seem possible
Jerry Lee Kersey.... right. Like thinking we had all kinds of time to get our shit together, “make something of our lives” and be prepared for retirement. I’m 53 and panicking because I haven’t done shit!!! Well not entirely true, I have a couple great kids who actually love the 70s and 80s music
Im 57 and understand where you are coming from.
54 here and yes it's bizarro world in 2019. Heck, if the "You Might Think" video came out today, Ric would be accused of Me-Too-ing the pretty woman in the video for three minutes, supporting 'rape culture' and 'violence against women' because he runs her down with a little car.
THEY ARE INSIDE MY HEAAAAAAD
(Stares blankly as pink ooze comes out of ear)
The thing that's in my head is this song!
Talk about an ear worm.
grande ahaha
You're going to need chocolate, salami and awkward sex immediately!
Oh well uh, you might think I'm crazy
To hang around with you
Or maybe you think I'm lucky
To have somethin' to do
But I think that you're wild
Inside me is some child
You might think I'm foolish
Or maybe it's untrue
(You might think) You might think I'm crazy
(All I want) All I want is you
You might think it's hysterical
But I know when you're weak
You think you're in the movies
And everything's so deep
But I think that you're wild
When you flash that fragile smile
You might think it's foolish
What you put me through
(You might think) You might think I'm crazy
(All I want) All I want is you
And it was hard, so hard to take (So hard to take)
There's no escape (There's no escape)
Without a scrape (Without a scrape)
But you kept it going, till the sun fell down
You kept it, going
Oh well uh, you might think I'm delirious
The way I run you down
But somewhere, sometimes
When you're curious
I'll be back around
Oh, I think that you're wild
And so uniquely styled
You might think it's foolish
This chancy rendezvous
(You might think I'm crazy) You might think I'm crazy
(All I want is you) All I want is you, ah-oo
All I want is you (All I want is you)
All I want is you
A jewel

..80's and 90's music still chills me up..
This song defines the 80's, the beauty, creativity and the golden age of movies and music...
It was a privilege for me to have lived in the 80's...
RIP. My aging 80's kid heart is breaking a little between this and Eddie Money.
Back in those days I was lead vocalist for a cover band. Among others I sang "Just What I Needed" and Eddie's "Baby Hold On". Right now I'm feeling a bit haunted.
Same. I was born in 85 but always adored music from when I was too young to know it. My dad introduced me to The Cars when I was in junior high in the late 90s,. I’ve always loved their songs.
When Eddie Money died, I listened to The Cars for comfort... and now this. :(
We're with u
