Thanks for taking us back to Christmas in Tavira (pronounced taveeeera ) we were there right after the financial crisis staying in the Pousada Magical but EMPTY what a change to today when its HEAVING especially with Americans who have 'discovered' Portugal We live here now ,near Lagos and strangely enough visiting Tavira again right now Thanks for good memories... You sound like you're from my old part of the world Manchester!!!
Hi Jenny , how lovely to live there it must be wonderful. It's a good time to travel for Americans at the moment isn't it. Thanks very much for watching and commenting , best wishes Helen and Martin
Thanks Paul - it was a top place for us we loved and wished we had stayed longer. Thanks for watching as always we really appreciate it , best wishes to you both.
Just about to say you were right with the flower...but then you found the plaque. Great shots and footage of the flamingoes 👍 Hair and nails are perfect Helen...part of going over to Europe long term that people often overlook to say about 😍 How pretty was those street lights, and Tavira really does look an amazing place to visit, keep seeing posts on the anchors. Not sure Poppy even noticed the cat 🤣
Thanks guys , we think you would like Tavira it's an interesting place for a few days. Got to get the hair and nails done 😂😂😂. The lights were lovely. Thanks for watching and commenting Helen and Martin
Helen Martin thank you both so much for the video on Tavira….Was there three years ago in January. So many wonderful memories and you both recaptured them in your footage. The Christmas lights and music was wonderful. We managed the water taxi over to the over beaches along the Famosa….breathtaking….We also stopped at Olhao and saw storks that were unbelievable just perching on tall chimneys…again just added again to the charm of the Algarve. Many thanks again…take care…
Hi thanks for the great message , we loved Tavira , probably our favourite place on the Algarve all round. We are really pleased you enjoyed it , makes it worth while. Best wishes Helen and Martin
Sorry, i know i am late from when you posted this but i am doing a catch-up and using your fabulous vlogs to aid my plans for our very own visit to Spain & Portugal in our Camper next month. Love you photos too!
Hi Ian , thanks for watching and have a great time in Iberia. If you check out our website there are links to free to vie image banks , FAQ's page , written blogs and other links that you find helpful . Best wishes Helen and Martin www.helenandmartinsmotorhometreks.uk/
The Cabanas is another favourite area and we stay up the road at Campismo Rio Formosa which is a good family owned site with a railway station 15 min walk away which will take you to all places along the Algarve. The village of Conceicao has everything including a laundry where the ladies will wash and iron your bedding for a few euros. Perfect place and a lovely cycle ride across the salt flats to Tavira.
Hi sounds like we share a lot in common with regards to the places we enjoy. Thanks for watching , you never know we might meet up on the road and share some stories over a brew or something stronger. Happy New Year best wishes Helen and Martin
@@helenandmartinsTreks - hi guys, looking at your travel videos it’s amazing how many places you’ve been to that we’ve been to as well. have to say you should be congratulated on the quality of the filming and they hold the viewers interest very well. We record our trips on Polarsteps but would love to move to videos in the future. Best wishes for 2024 and safe travels.
Clare as always is in awe of the photos in this one. The Flamingoes do look gorgeous (although they are another type of bird that gives me the willies). Those lights seemed like they went on forever. Very nice and very different 😊
Thanks Clare x , I do like photography it’s like a form of meditation to me I love it and equally enjoy wildlife, landscapes or street photography. It was very Christmassy Dave a lovely place. Thanks for watching guys H and M
Martin ... you showed us not just 1 jewel, but many jewels. Another video for the Portuguese Tourist Board? Already looking forward to Part 2 ... and beyond!
Hiii , Tavira by night was beautiful, thaaanks, I'm driving to Spain some day, living in Bavaria now . Sooo pretty , take care and nice to meet you 2 virtually . 😅🥨🥂
We stayed at the Tavira aire Christmas 2019 after it had recently opened. We also spent one New Year out on the salt flats by the old fort. Nice to see it all again on your video. Look forward to the next one.
@@helenandmartinsTreks we had an amazing time, but having watched your video , we are 100% sure that ours will not be a patch on that ( and probably a year in the edit) - plus we must now go back and hunt out the flamingos 🦩 x
Beautiful vlog both. I'm still sad I've not seen flamingos here yet. Your footage was fab💜 Tavira looks lovely at Christmas. All the lights were down by the time we got there. Loved the Aire it's a cracking little spot. We took the dogs to the anchor cemetery, locals were walking their dogs on the beach so we thought it just meant no dogs on the train. 💜xx
Thanks guys it was great a place wasn't it. There is two other aires in the group along the Algarve but perhaps you know that. Thanks for watching Best wishes Helen and Martin
Hi thanks very much for watching and commenting , we love getting comments like this , it makes the effort worth while , many thanks and best wishes Helen and Martin
Another great video guys. Portugal is still to be ticked off on our roadtrip bucket list, so giving us ideas for future trips. Though it's nice to see places vibrant and busy, quieter times of year sometimes make exploring a bit easier.
Hi Deb & Dave , thanks for watching , I definatley wouldn't miss Tavira if you come to Portugal , It will be a different place in summer I'm sure but this time of year was pretty quiet. Best wishes Helen and Martin
Great video guys. The Aire looked fantastic. Pity they aren't as dog friendly as other parts of Europe though. Looking forward to the next video. Keep safe.
Excellent video as always and we both enjoyed it........ A constructive comment however. Perhaps catch up a little. We are watching this on the 12th Jan (Release day) and Christmas is a Distant memory for us. You however have not got there yet ............ 😊😊
Thanks guys , you make a good point, being on the road does slow the editing down. I think I'll not publish the Christmas video and move straight onto the January ones. Thanks very much for watching Helen and Martin.
Hi great Blog thanks wonderful filming ..do you have any information on your journey from UK , planning to go down in Jan but apprehensive over the long drive and whether I need winter tyres or even Chains ? Looked at the route past Biaritz did you go that way? we have two months , love the Algarve we usually fly never gone past the Vendee in France in our MH
Hi thanks for watching , I wrote a blog about the route I take in winter the link is below there are other tips and tricks on the site that might help you including an FAQ section. In relation to tyres some French require either winter tyres OR for you to Carry Chains/snow socks. I carry snow chains never needed them yet down the west coast route . Hope that helps Helen and Martin - www.helenandmartinsmotorhometreks.uk/blog/which-way-through-france
Hi, Are you still at the Aire in Tavira we are at Camping Formosa which is 5kms from you, it would be good to catch I have misplaced my phone but Sandy still has hers. Terry
Hi Terry we are back in the U.K. now sadly. Re your phone that makes sense as I have messaged you a couple of times. Including with a new phone number for myself (Martin) Enjoy your trip and we’ll see you soon. best wishes. H and M
Obrigada… I was going to share the pronunciation as well…. For future visitors 😊. The emphasis is on the veeeer, as with many Português words, especially that start and finish with a vowel, they tend to drop them.
Hi John thanks for watching , we use a Go Pro , a DJI Pocket 2 and a Sony ZV1 . We use them for slightly different scenarios as each have something different to offer. DJI Pocket 2 is probably our best all rounder , unless we’re wanting to Mount it on a bike /scooter / chest strap etc then the stabilisation in the go pro is better. If we want to sit down talking to camera the Sony is a class above, but more money. Hope that helps best wishes Helen and Martin.
