I have to go back and watch from chapter 3 on, that's what I meant by catch up 😅 I started this one today but kids interrupted for me to dance with them lol. I noticed in the NKJV translation, there is an extra verse. 17:21 It is referring to the disciples not being able to cast out the demon from the boy. It adds that "if you have faith as a mustard seed... you could move mountains" It adds "However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting."
You are absolutely correct. I smiled with how you wrote this, "there's an extra verse"... so many people emphatically state that a verse is missing from other translations. A commentary can help with some understanding of this. I’m curious who told Matthew about the transfiguration and when? Peter tells the church in 2 Peter 1:16-18. The whole Elijah/John the Baptist discussion is very confusing. From my study Bible, apparently, the disciples would have known that Jesus was not speaking of reincarnation but of John the Baptist taking on Elijah’s prophetic role. 🤷🏻♀️
I love your study Bible notes that you share. Remember too, Jesus did tell Peter, James, & John that they could tell the story to others; just at a certain point 😉
