      I am Chinese and I used to live in the US. I returned to China by the end of 2015. After living in China for about 2 years I already realized all those issues Serpentza was talking about, and everything is obviously going backward these days. I appreciate Serpentza for speaking up about those issues. You may assume Chinese are not affected by all those backward rules and propaganda, but for us Chinese with foreign spouses, we're greatly affected. My husband is a foreigner from Africa, we had super tough time in China and we were also not allowed to check in most hotels. There's no long-term solution for us in China so we left this year.

    • @nimacao9159
      @nimacao9159 4 года назад +7

      Sometimes it's not Chinese being too fragile, you should really watch your choice of words there. 'To a Chinese' is really stereotypical and a bit racist. Clearly a lot of educated and open-minded, mostly younger generation(with vpn) and some first scholars born in late 60s and early 70s, would think more critically and sure won't be pissed off by what SerpentZA says. There's a particular term 'wumao' referring to those brainwashed communist puppets. While it's very wrong and hateful to say every Chinese is ignoring what's going on with our nation and just attacking those who point out the issues.

The Chinese need to grow more confident than the North Koreans, it really is not necessary to "hide the poor side", people already know it. I guess that's China's loss, not yours! ... They claim to need so many native speaking English teachers, yet make it more and more difficult all the time ... It makes perfect sense for teachers to need degrees etc if they will be teaching in university or high schools ... but kindergartens??!!! Since when does one need a degree to teach 4 year olds how to count from one to ten in English?! It's really not difficult 😂

      surfallday ... Lol thank you for the friendly response, however I think you'll find that's up to the Chinese government, not little ole you ... You don't get to decide who stays in China and who doesn't ... Just as I don't get to decide if you wish to live and work in a "western" country ... It's up to the immigration department of said country. It's none of my business ... You are also terribly mistaken if you think China wants absolutely no "western influence" at all ... If that's the case then Chinese people should live up to their words and not drive western branded cars ... BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Range Rover, Tesla, Jaguar, VW, Chrysler, Audi, Ford etc ... Chinese people also love European clothing brands more than Europeans themselves 🤔 ... Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, Hermes etc etc ... These brands are more popular in China than the "western" countries they originate from ... There are also thousands and thousands of Chinese students studying in the US and Europe, so why would they go to the trouble of moving halfway across the world to study in a western university if they want "no western influence" ?? ... Especially when there are plenty of good universities in China ... China is a great country and has a bright future ahead, due to the hard work of it's citizens, but to say China wants "no western influence" is a little short sighted ... It would be more realistic to say China wants "less" western influence than it currently has, which is more achievable.

    Greetings from a fossil. In the 1950s many of my toys were made in Japan. A lot them had inertia motors in them. Roll it on the wheels a few times, set it down and it takes off by itself. One thing deeply impressed me. Little cars and such were stamped out of sheet metal and painted like a real car. I am not sure how they did that, but I got the distinct impression the material was cut out of beer cans. They were very, very cheap. Japanese imports were so common we used to say if you turned Hell upside down it would say Made in Japan on the bottom. This was like 10 or 15 years after WW2. When I read The Art of War, I believe I saw a passage about making cunning artifacts to sell to the opposition. He didn't say why exactly. When Japan sought to rebuild their industry, US quality control specialists were sent to them. While quality control methods were well developed in the USA, their use has been hit or miss. Japanese products had an inferior reputation, and with good reason. It looked like they are in dire need of some quality control. I suspect nobody thought they would take it as gospel and run with it the way they did. They left us behind. China could easily do the same. However I don't think they have the national character of copying and improving, at least to the extent the Japanese do. So small beginnings, greater ends. From little acorns mighty oaks grow. And more to the point, pennies add up to dollars. Many drops turn the mill. All it takes once this is realized is a strategic plan. While there was some irritation in the USA at seeing the old antagonist prosper, I has always seemed to me that they took Ben Franklin to heart, while we wandered astray. Whose fault is that?

Now China is facing a crucial time that stepping up to be the no1 economy group in the world and this hurts some people especially the US while China is getting stronger their advantage and status weakened, they get irritated the same time trying their best to prevent this to happen. Japan has been in a slump for a few decades now. There's a reason why games consoles despite being invented there don't take off like they do in the West. The most common gaming machine is an 80s arcade machine! Japan was a late adopter of smart phones despite being one of the first to integrate live chat and emails into phones since the 90s. There's a reason why cds and vhs cassettes are still available to buy in Japan. Those Asimo robots haven't changed much since being shown off over a decade ago. Boston dynamics seems leagues ahead despite being a far younger company. Technologically they are stagnant and slow to change. It may be due to the falling birth rate. Japan isn't as technologically advanced as we are told. I think it's an image we have of them that is outdated.

    - Full access to the job market, as an employee or self-employed

      Of course you need a tourist visa to get into Italy, like anywhere else, but that's not what we're on about, is it? What we're talking about is the status of foreigners married to a Chinese national who want to live in China. And that status is as follows :
      - no equality before Chinese "law".
      - no access to public healthcare, education and Chinese "social security". Will have to pay from your own pocket, ditto for your children if they're not Chinese.
      - No access to the job market. Residence permit only allows you to stay there doing nothing (for one or two years at a time). If you're caught working you will be deported. Residence permit can be converted into a work visa, but you need to find a company willing to sponsor you, which most don't do or can't afford to do (procedure is a hassle).
      - unfair access as a self-employed, i.e. if you want to start a business you need to put a bag of cash upfront first, to the tune of 100 000 euros. Only other option is finding a Chinese associate, but he better be reliable because in case of legal disputes Chinese "law" will always rule in his favour (see also point 1).
      - big restrictions on property ownership
      - can never get a permanent residence permit.
      - can never become Chinese
      - rule of lol?
