I live in Cleveland. Who is angry? There hasn't been a single home game yet. The public has not gotten a chance to see these changes up close or sample the product. It's a two year renovation. How can you make an assessment on something that is not finished nor has been seen/used by the paying public?
its looks rough, plain and simple......any other construction or renovations with anything they wait until they have everything they need and they start they don't just half ass it and do some then wait. And lets be honest the renovations so far look poor and not of a professional ballpark or stadium.

Rogers bought the Skydome for $25 million dollars. Million, with an M. There was no chance they were ever knocking that bargain of a jewel down and spending $1.5 Billion on a new stadium. As it is now, the renovation looks great at Rogers Centre, but it's still Skydome to me.

The problem with the Jays. It is not the cost to build the stadium. It is the Rogers Centre is downtown Toronto and no place to put a new one in. So they decided to renovations.
If you’re going to change the seating in sections, it makes sense to do the lower bowl first, because that’s what 80% of the shots on TV are going to show anyway.
That empty framework in Progreesive Field is likely structurally integral to the upper deck, removing it would require extensive modifications to the rest of the stadium. That is definitely the case in the Washington Commanders stadium.
People gloss over the fact that all of the big renovations at Progressive field have included infrastructure. So it's not just seats, it plumbing, drainage, electrical and alike. The last big work when the moved the bullpen and reworked the corner bar also included fully reworking the entry gates to center field.

I think the blue seats at Progressive Field will look great (especially when the rest are installed next off-season), and something productive is being done with the space occupied by the shipping containers. I see this as an absolute win.
Exactly. Is it better to have empty seats or open spaces that people can enjoy? Guys like this complain about stadium supports - but that's exactly WHY they cannot be removed. They are integral to the structure of the stadium. And the rest of the seats get replaced next year. The renovation is only 50% done and this guy wants to just knock it down for clicks.

I sat in those upper deck seats in 1996. It was almost impossible to find seats in the pre-internet era. And while it was fun to be at the game, the view was terrible. You couldn't see the outfielder catch a ball as they got closer to the wall, or even if a home run was hit. MLB stadiums should be at 30k, as you need to be close to the field to actually enjoy a game.
Luxury boxes and group party areas have the potential to make more revenue than regular seats. It sucks for the average fan when your team is popular though.
It looks a heck of a lot better than it did with the shipping containers. Also, the Blue Jays took two off seasons to replace the seats in the Rogers Centre. And the blue seats at Progressive Field will look nice when they are all in. Not that unusual to replace them over time.

In Toronto, the stadiums are about as convenient as it gets location-wise. I don’t know who in North East Ohio is angry about this. We love the shipping containers being removed and more standing room means more people can buy their season passes. Not a fan of people not in or around NEO speaking for us. The Renno is in progress and I’m happy with the progress so far
I think those large areas in Progressive with the couple of random tables are supposed to better facilitate their Standing Room Only District Tickets. Perhaps further renovations from a newer owner in a few years could be coming to better facilitate the newer look of it.
I remember going to a game in 2001 when they were the Indians, and the all the seats were full. They should have lowered ticket prices and made the money back on the concession stands. I don't think Cleveland is shrinking. They ruined a great thing in northeast Ohio.
Dolan bought the team in 2002 or 2003 I believe. He has been a terrible owner in regards to spending on payroll. He is just in it to line his pockets. I hope the team gets a new owner fairly soon.

Ruined one of the better stadiums in MLB. It was a classic "90s" stadium. No foresight that this would age okay with a few simple modifications. Capacity too big? Start playing better. They had no issues selling out when the team was good. This is the team of my youth. Goofy name change and an ugly stadium and an awful roster. Why do I even bother?

It's ridiculous that taxpayers have to flip the bill for anything regarding professional sports franchises. The greedy owners make enough to pay for it themselves. If they can't afford it on their own then their leagues should force them to sell the team because they obviously can't handle the responsibility of managing the finances properly.

Who cares about seat colors? When I go to YANKEE STADIUM I don’t even notice seat colors. You want to know why? Because you can’t see seat colors when they are all occupied by fans. Amazing concept, fans!,,
