  • Today I am changing a blade on a Delta benchtop bandsaw. This is a great little bandsaw and changing the blade is a straight forward simple operation.

    Just this once....the mighty algorithm brought me to not only the video content I needed in the FIRST link, but my model is 95% a twin of what you are working on. Today, you *are* someone's hero! Thank you!

    Got my 28-185 second hand and have been using it as it was, come to find out it was all out of wack on the top and bottom guides and was going past the bearing on the top, scoring the back of the top guide part. Thanks sooo much for the helpful information!! Can’t wait to fire that bad boy up tomorrow and see what I’ve been missing!👍👍👍

    How's she goin'? Nice set up video for replacing the blade!!! I find setting the guide blocks isn't as important as manufacturer's say. It is important though. The way you set the guide blocks and backer bearing is a great way to do it!!! Take care!!!

    Hi there! I have two old 8” Delta Model 28-180 Bench Bandsaws that look almost identical inside to yours (wheels, tracking and guides), except for the outer shell/cabinet that differs. Please confirm your model number and if it is an 8” or 10” saw. If it is an 8”, what is the manufacturers recommended blade length? I don’t have a manual for mine and I’m doing a lot of guess work, have one blade that is too tight and one that fits but on the limit of of the tensioner travel. I would like to replace all my blades soon with better blades.

      @stevoj8959  Год назад +1

      It will take me some time to confirm the model number, I will be there at the end of the week, but the blade length for you saw should be 56 1/8. Hope that helps. Stevo

    Have you ever run a 3/8" wide blade? If so, were there any differences in the setup?

    • @stevoj8959
      @stevoj8959  Год назад

      There should be no problem running a 3/8 blade. You just have to set the blocks and bearings as you would a 1/4 blade. Thanks. Stevo

    Hi Stevo. I have the same Delta saw, Delta 28-180 which specifies a 56-1/8" blade. I have purchased two 56-1/8" blades from two different places and they are all too short. I've adjusted the wheel for loading per the manual (I think) but it is at minimum and I'm out of ideas. The blades are too short. If you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

      Sometimes the wheel gets stuck so try and bang it down when the tension is off. Give that a try. Thanks. Stevo

      That is a tough one. They don't make any parts for Delta equipment anymore. King Power Tools are making clones to all the old Delta equipment so it might be worth your time to search there. Stevo

      Any woodworker supply shop should be able to get what you need. Some hardware stores still carry some blades.
