- Using the contour feature in Cricut Design Space can be intimidating, but it can be very easy! I explain how to create your own layered design, and turn a normal cut file into a full colour layered vinyl sticker!

Awww you are so welcome Lindie! Thank you so much 💚
I have been playing around with a hack I thought of (other people have probably thought of it too, of course), for the problem you show with how some parts are connected, so contour doesn't differentiate between them, and kind of lumps them in with a separate part of the image, rather than let you select it separately. (I have no idea if that makes any sense lol. But my idea is that you use either the rectangle tool to add a line to a part of the image, to sort of separate it into two, or using the subtract tool to separate two parts of the design. I don't have it quite figured out yet, but I think it could be a pretty cool hack if someone figures it out.
You totally could do that! i dont trust myself to weld them back together well enough though haha
That is so amazing! It's absolutely amazing what you can do with that printer!
Keep up the excellent videos!
haha thanks! What printer though? :P teehee

😂😂😂 ITS NOT A PRINTER hahahah

Was that a sticker you made or a design for a shirt ? It’s beautiful and thank you I finally see how to do layered projects
Thank you! It was a sticker :)
Hi Kelly, wondering if you would be open to doing a bit of a series on contour with the newest version of CDS? One main reason is because about 3 weeks or so ago I noticed it was working very differently than before - I believe it turned out to be a software issue based on another RUclipsrs video that I was fortunate enough to find. I couldn’t find anything else anywhere about this issue & would really like to know if you also experienced this (after contouring out parts, an image couldn’t be moved very freely as if the parts were still there). While I think it’s been resolved with an update, I’m still surprised it wasn’t more widely shared & am very curious if you saw the issue too, & would really enjoy simply learning more about contour from you. Thank you for considering this!
I have noticed the issues with contour - and it drives me nuts too!
The way i solved it was to add in a tiny object within the space of my design - a square, circle, whatever. Weld them. and the contour out the new shape. It then recognises it as a "new" shape and doesnt have the extended bounding box issue anymore!
@@KellyRossouw oh, clever! The other RUclipsr was able to get it to work properly at the time of their video by going to beta. I’m going to check if I still notice any issues as there have been some very recent updates with “bug fixes” - fingers crossed this was one!
iI found this butterfly on design space but the contour button is not highlighted for be to click on . what do i do now?
It could be a few things, it might not be a single layered design, or it might not be a "cut" design
