It's a fantastic set, but I do agree with people regarding the price, and you have to consider what other things you can get for the same amount of money, or what's more of a priority for people. For $500, I can get a month's worth of groceries, pay the gas and electricity bill, or get a new computer (the latter is essential now, considering a lot of bill paying and banking is done via it.) Lego is only plastic, after all.
Yes, it depends 100% on your disposable income. Some people choose to travel, others get nice cars/boats with a monthly payment, and others choose Lego.
This is way too much money. This set shouldnt be more than 350. 500 is just stupid. The Avengers tower has 3 times the amount of mini figs, over a 1k more pieces and the same price tag. LEGO is just getting more and more greedy. I am bummed that you did not call them out for this. I know you are trying to stay in their good graces, but this needs to be called out. Plan and simple. LEGO is price gouging at this point.

Blaming pricing solely on Disney alone is weak. It’s Lego, Disney and lucasfilm all getting greedy. Pushing the limits on what people will pay for a set. Despite the negativity in the community for the price, people will still buy it. To combat the greed, sets like this need to be boycotted.
Re: price, obviously Jordan can't become too critical considering Lego sends them for free, however I think it's possible the premium on Star Wars sets comes more from the licensing fees Lego has to pay to Disney versus Lego just milking greed. I'm sure the latter is a part of it, but Star Wars licensing across all mediums appears to cost a premium when compared to other (even other Disney) properties.
They have to pay Disney for Marvel as well and the Avengers Tower has over 1000 more pieces, almost triple the figures, and looks way more impressive for the same price. This is a complete ripoff for Star Wars fans.

The last UCS set i bought was the slave 1 in 2016 I believe, for 200 dollars with roughly 2000 pieces and a few minifigs. I thought it was a great set and a fair value. Jabbas sail barge lists at 500 with 3942 pieces. So If youre going by price per piece, the cost for ucs sets has increased roughly 100 dollars over the past 8 years or so. I dont believe that Lego's licensing costs have increased that much in a short time frame. They are charging those prices because they know people will pay it.

Star Wars is arguably Lego's most popular line and Disney is a capitalistic machine. They can charge what they want for licensing and Lego is all but required to pay for it.

Try ironing those flipped up edges on the sail if they are cloth. Put the sails in between a bed sheet or pillow case on lowest heat setting. Hope it works. Great review!
Very good review of the set,showing what you can do with it. I agree it is very expensive but serious collectors will purchase it especially with the free gift with purchase . Should have come with salac pit ,will wait for a sale & extra insider points.

That is one nicely detailed and polished set. I wish they chose more colours than just brown. They could have used more variety of brown shades plus some grey shades.

I'm disappointed with the limited number of openable external shutters all the way down each side of the vehicle! Kinda wonder how much it would cost to build a 3/4 sized sail barge (especially if somebody has the old ones sitting around, they could add those updated details) but I'd imagine the sails could be $30+ each on Bricklink. I do appreciate the fact that this set has the aesthetics of a playset. I'd rather purchase the Mos Eisley cantina before it retires than this set, it's a better value than Jabba's sail barge!😂😂

Really expensive, looks great, love the new Leia except maybe for the swimming trunks, a rather bland, but fairly detailed interior, C3PO should be the highest quality one available, disappointed by the low quality of the barge figurines (Vizam, Kithaaba, Woof) and the relatively small number of figurines overall. Space being an issue, I just purchased the older playset for 229€ and I feel quite happy and a bit relieved by my decision. I already have the Rancor set and Jabba's palace so I can use some of the figures from there. Going to buy the new desert skiff on sale. It looks great! 👌
@@NoahBall08 the razor crest has 6128 pieces and jabbas sail barge has close to 4,000 but if you rounded the amount of pieces it has the razor crest almost has two times the amount of pieces or two of those which almost equal to the amount of pieces that the razor crest has
I agree that the price is a little on the high side - but people REALLY have to stop using "price per piece" as a metric for what makes a good price. Not all pieces are created equal.
Nobody has compared the set only using price per piece. Yes, it is a metric, but so are the number of minifigures, total price, size,.... The set is the same price point as Rivendel but it does not comes close to it.

Not only is the price too high, but with that price there should not be stickers, there should be more minifigs, and probably at least one side build. I think they are hoping people will pay this inflated price to get the GWP but I bet most people are going to wait for a sale.
I’m not defending Lego but Disney is probably making Star Wars merchandise more expensive especially Lego. One reason is because like all of the Star Wars shows Disney are putting out are flopping and two is because lego Star Wars is the only Star Wars merchandise that actually sells. So many people have commented comparing to other sets from OTHER THEMES. Marvel makes Disney a lot more money than Star Wars for Disney (I’d say) so it wouldn’t have much of a tax.
For this price, there should be more characters like that Yarkora alien or the Gran Ree-Yees. LEGO didn’t want to create more unique molds for the alien characters. With Klatooinians and Niktos, they can get away with the standard LEGO heads.
This set should be no more than $350. I work at a LEGO retail store and always feel bad when telling people the overpriced prices on some of our products because it takes them back a bit. LEGO is getting greedier by the day.

It's almost unbelievable how many details have been incorporated into it and that you can enter it from all sides. Very nice project. The price seems expensive, but you can't forget the 11 mini figures. This is more than worth the price at the end of the day. Going to buy that one for sure in the future.

Great early review Bricksie, the level of detail and accuracy to the source material makes this the set of the year, people are complaining about the 500 dollar price tag USD, well if you are Canadian you pay 650.00.
Compared to other more recent UCS sets, I don't think this deserves the price tag. Not enough pieces or figs and far too many "it isn't that bad" decisions with building.
Looks great my son is buying it. Here in UK it's £430 yes pricey but it's UCS he is also wanting the gift with purchase so no doubt I be on webpage on release day x

Considering the state of the box, the Sail Barge came out pretty good! 😮 I would have been unhappy if I paid $500 and received that box!

are the tips of Max Rebo ears exactly the same? From one picture I thought one has more pointy ears than the other but I am not so sure now.
