I enjoyed the part where your mum grated and strained the coconut. A bittersweet moment , as it made me remember my mother. Mothers are a gift , a mercy from heaven.

Thank you to your parents for showing us how to prepare chataigne. I love the detailed steps. We used to have a tree in our yard when I lived in Trinidad and everybody would come to pick chataigne for everyday cooking or for weddings and prayers. If I could remember clearly it was always in fruit.
P.s that homemade grater is a classic. Keep up the great work.

Never seen it prepared like this before. Didn't realize the flesh was edible. We would allow the flesh to rot down over a few days and then easily sift out the seeds with our fingers and then boil them for an hour or so with salted water. I've always said that once you have a breadnut and breadfruit tree in your yard you will never starve. Nice video!

Thanks for sharing! I just got a breadnut that fell from the tree and took all the nuts out to boil and eat. I'm guessing it was overripe since the flesh was mushy inside and I couldn't make this recipe? Or can you make it even if the flesh inside is super soft already? People here usually only eat the nuts inside but I'd like to use the whole fruit.
