I pray a blessing over your mum. I saw her hand and feet and felt to compliment her. I was born in the Caribbean but now live in England, seeing this kitchen reminded me of those days as a child growing up in that very different world to my current experience in a foreign country. All the best to her if God let it be so.
Thanks moms for your recipe. I could take on watching you cook all day. Cris, your videos are the best. Plz include your parents as much as you can. We surely can learn alot from them.
Just shared this recipe with my mom on Facebook. She's Jamaican been in America since 1962... She had her accent and still cooks Caribbean food better than any other islander I know. Hopefully she'll join your page and she'll give me some tips to add to all the delicious recipes you've been shelling out over last year and in 2018! And I love the back ground noises especially when the sun went down! Tell your mom thank you!!!!!!!!
We in Puerto Rico call it ''Yautia'' ..... its starchy but ❤ YUMMMY ❤ ............. GOOD! Popular in the Caribbean, especially in Puerto Rico and Cuba, yautía (also known as malanga) appears a lot like yuca. However, it has a “hairy” skin and an earthy taste, kind of like a nutty potato. Yautía breaks down easily when cooked, so it’s most commonly used as a thickening agent in stews.
I've never seen fresh pigeon peas, only dried. In Jamaica, we call it gungo peas....Thanks for showing this. You are very lucky having your mum still showing you how to cook.
Thank you for posting this recipe from your family traditions! We are growing pigeon peas in Southern California and we have huge harvest as well so I’m going to try this recipe👍😁👏🏼🌈💖🍀💐🎉
