Still listening to the greatest rock'n'roller of them all in 2024. Rock on!
We lost the late and great Little Richard on May 9th 2020 one of the greatest foundjng fathers of rock n roll i have been playing his music for over 40 years over the air waves i will miss you brotha rest in peace.
Didn't know this.
In all this covid madness, I missed the fact of his passing. Tremendous loss on earth. We know how he fought to save his soul and those of others while he was here. God bless him forever. Many times we heard of people stopped in traffic and having him give them a pamphlet to bring them closer to God.
Little Richard was one of few musicians that I still listen to. Been listening to him since I was 5. Been listening to him for 26 years and when I found out he passed I was so upset. Losing a patriarch of multiple genres was a huge loss.
That tenor player deserves a knighthood.
For Sure !
@@paulbrown1585 Lee Allen! later in his career he mentored my favorites, The Blasters.
ruclips.net/video/nhi1X7LZDNs/видео.html
You should hear This band backing roy montrell's every time i hear that mellow saxophone
I bought this record in 1956 and played it until the grooves turned to powder! The tenor sax work is about the best I've ever heard in over fifty years of loving R&R.
Lee Allen. And the phenomenal Earl Palmer on drums!
@@fosbury68 Thanks for the enlightening comment. Lee Allen must have been about 20 when he did this!
Lee Allen, tenor sax, Alvin Red Tyler, baritone sax.
The movie Casino brought me here...now I can't leave . R.I.P. Little Richard ❤❤❤
Little Richard recorded a ton of tunes and there's not a bad one in the whole bunch. Man could he sing!
I saw Little Richard perform this in Atlanta in 1956. The audience was segregated, whites in the balcony, blacks on the floor. The audience demanded three encores. We have lost a great one, pure energy.
What an awesome memory to have! Bet you can still see it in your minds eye like it was yesterday?
Sad that they segregated the people, shame on those that have done that. God made all people equal and in His image.
That guy could play the piano, he doesn't get the credit he deserves. Listen to last minute.
Yea, he could make the piano scream and shout
I grew up listening to Little Richard I'm heart broken
Me too! We are so lucky we got to experience his music.
Me too. I was pretty young but thought it was the greatest thing! My name is Melinda so kinda liked this song!
I was born in 1999 but i had the fortune of knowing rock and roll 3 years ago.. so I'm technically growing with their music too
Tear up heaven!!! R.I.P. A true rock and roll legend. Heartbroken 😭💔🙏
❤🧡💚💜
Yeah rip true legend
✊😤
He packed a whole lot into this lil ass song! Under three minutes!
180 Beats Per Minute, not one of them wasted!
That’s the way it’s done.
Can you imagine that blaring out of the radio from a brand new artist in 2019.. let alone 1955.. I just can't even imagine how people lost their minds back then. One of the four pillars of Rock and Roll. Along with Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley.
Tony Jablonski Spot on with those 4 brother 👌🏻
Make it five jerry lee lewis
Lol wtf. You dont know who fats domino is??? How could you not include him as a pillar. A very very strong pillar of rock n roll.
@@troyvahn2461 jerry lee lewis was not big on rock n roll. He wasn't a true artist till the mid 60s when he made it big in country music. He is not a pillar. He was just there. Unlike Roy orbison he is owed so much for his early early contribution to rock n roll.
Don't forget Killer!!!
Was I ever blessed to have seen a legendary performer. It's a triple crown when you get to see Little Richard, Chuck Berry, and Jerry Lee Lewis who recently passed away. The first generation of Rock n Roll legends who could perform a variety of genres. That's a Killer to have seen such legends!
Pure Rock'n'Roll
Chuck Berry,Buddy Holly,Little Richard,Jerry Lee Lewis,Eddie Cochran...What a Legends
It's good to know that someone else likes the same music as I like. Don't feel so old now!!!
Fats domino, bo didley
Chuck Berry fans Oh hell yes ! i was 5 when i heard. Him first ...nuttin the same since...on to James B.to on an on..lol It lit us up...for SURE... 😃
Let's not forget Bo Diddley!
Great song
The sax player blew the roof off!
This holds up really well after 60 years.
Que massa... Aqui em 13/04/2024 vendo que Raul Seixas se apropriou desta bela canção e compôs NÃO FOSSE CABRAL. Muito bom.
I’m 14 and this is one of my favourite songs
Go listen to the coasters!!
Good
Try John Lennon's version - not the same but takes you on to other places...
One of Richards finest RnR/RnB recordings. Great number all round. An excellent intro and That play off, with the Sax and piano, at the end: mind blowing. 😋😘
Early rock & roll is the best. Honest and down to eatth
Damn that saxophone riffs towards the end is enough to shake the teeth out of your head. 🤘👽🎷🎶
Absolutely! Not only that, the whole band is c-o-o-k-i-n-g with him, rock solid. Knocks me out....
Listen to the Johnny Winter cover when you get a chance.
Indeed!
I love it! It's like a Heavy Metal Riff on Sax! 😆
One of the forefathers of rock n roll
R. I. P Little Richard! Finally joining Chuck Berry in that great big sky. The truth kings of Rock and Roll... Elvis who?
Lee Allen's 34 bars on the end of this was abbreviated on the 45rpm single. I first heard it on the 45 Extended play record on Specialty. GREAT syncopated sax by the greatest rock and roll sax player ever! starts at 1:54.
What a tune! Little Richard. King of Rock N Roll. Without him, a major direction The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, etc, made, wouldn't have been there.
john pacino Yes Sir eee ..
Can't say it better
started the whole thing..lets not forget Leadbelly tho... 😃
Let's not forget Buddy Holly who influenced them just as much
@@lukegodden1529 Bo Diddley is someone that ought not be overlooked.
@@Brother_Dre1900 You're not wrong there
Let us also not forget Chuck Berry either.
I loved this in 1957, when I was 4. Forgot about it until 1971, when The Band did it as their encore at The Albert Hall. Sounds great in lockdown 2020.
I am dancing my feet away, I love this song
What a move..
Slippin' and slidin'
Peepin' and hidin'
Been told a long time ago
Slippin' and slidin'
Peepin' and hidin'
Been told a long time ago
I've been told
Baby you've been bold
I won't be your fool no more
Oh, big conniver
Nothin' but a jive
Done got hip to your jive
Oh, big conniver
Nothin' but a jive
Done got hip to your jive
Slippin' and slidin'
Peepin' and hidin'
Won't be your feel no more
Oh, Malinda
She's a solid sender
You know you better surrender
Oh, Malinda
She's a solid sender
You know you better surrender
Slippin' and slidin'
Peepin'…

I always thought that the line was, Oh, my Linda, she's a solid cinder'. It was one of my favourite lines in Rock;now I'm disillusioned..😢
Nothing but a child got hip to your jive
Rock and Roll perfection!!!!
If you don't instantly start uncontrollably bopping ,you're probably dead !
A classic piece of rock 'n roll by one of its great performers.
Great music of the 50,s years Jerry Lee Lewis bill haley little Richard etc
The real king of Rock n Roll along with Chuck Berry
Let's not forget Bo Diddley.
Truly the king of Rock and roll
One of the best from one of the founding fathers of rock n roll the wild man himself Little Richard this is rock n roll mercy.
Prince of early rock n roll. RIP lovely man.
C Synch was your edit done today 5/9/2020?
I love Richard. His expression on the album: "How could you?"
C est lui le roi Le King ❤❤❤❤❤
Rip Legend and one of our Rock n Roll pioneers 😎🎙🎸
The fifties music magical no doubt
This is awesome. Lil Richard’s genius❤️❤️
You are 100% CORRECT....the man was a GENIUS........ !!!
RIP. Legendary entertainer.
I of the best songs and artists of all time !!!!
OOOOOO MY SOUL - THE MAN DONE GREAT -
the king
this song makes me so happy
This song makes me moist.
Well used in Casino.
I always think of Mask.
Jenny N-yes,that's precisely what brought me here, Mask. Rocky tries once more to phone Diana, her mom answers,"Adams residence." Rocky:"Hello,Mrs. Adams,is Diana there?" (Who's calling?) Rocky Dennis. (No,she isn't.) Do you know where she is? (No,I don't.) Did you tell her that I've called? (No,I haven't.) Rocky hangs up with tears of self pity as Rusty, his mother, comes over to comfort him,"Baby, don't cry." Yes,because this song is playing on the radio then, starts playing right after Ben leaves after Rocky orders him out because he's pissed that Ben has suddenly decided to bail on the long planned Europe trip as he's going to Michigan to live with his dad. And even though we only hear Rocky's end of the phone conversation with Diana's mom,we know all that I had just said is most likely precisely what she tells him. Ten to one she purposely never told her daughter about Rocky having tried to call her,and all because of his "gruesome" appearance(so she and Diana's father think,it's plain to see.) But then,it's their loss not really Rocky's; they simply chose to see his deformed appearance and not to really get to know him and see that he really was a great person with a great personality, personable and friendly.
Just before chips started flying n ace fell in love!

Italia 2021 😍🇮🇹
Jerry Lee Lewis and little Richard greats
This is and always will be young and poppin it's younger than me and I'm 44..so young so jumping..the one and only Little Richard..so thankful I got to discover..this slamming groove!
-No wonder they used to think that Rock & Roll caused juvenile delinquency, teen pregnancies, & violence! The driving rhythmic beat & sax is dynomite!!! Just what would cause kids, to 30somethings back then to move to the music. My only complaint, is that most records back then were mostly limited to 3 mins. But damn it Rock'd !!!
I just read that this is the first record released to the public to use the rock 'n' roll beat, also called the straight-eight, which became known as the back beat. Recorded Feb 7, 1956, Earl Palmer on drums. Prior to this, the characteristic R&B rhythm was the shuffle. This was the beginning of rock 'n' roll drumming! Pretty exciting stuff, and good trivia.
I love slippin and sliddin on the ball
Little Richard. The true King of Rock n Roll.
Love Little Richard!!
jmary smyth This song was really used to perfection in Casino.
Genius! RIP brother.
this is still epic today. top notch work and classy.
Keep in mind this is a B side of Long Tall Sally
God I love little Richards.... wait
Earl palmer!!!!!daaaayyyuuummm!!
My dad bought this when stationed in Germany. (was a 'clay' 78 rpm on Specialty as the B-side to the A-side "Long Tall Sally" in 1954 or 5) was the first and ONLY R&R record I ever heard until the Beatles on Ed Sullivan.
Suddenly sad ~ dancing in our jukebox room ~ several siblings RIP ~ missing our younger days
LR is one of my favorite entertainers at this very moment.
There is a version of this song in Brazilian Portuguese, called "Não Fosse o Cabral" (something like "weren't it for Cabral"), composed and performed by Raul Seixas. The version is a sarcastic social criticism of Brazil's problems.
I was brought up in the Baptist church while they were hating Richards music I was infatuated with the beat, the wicked lyrics & went to see his concerts back in 55/56
So little Richard inspired me to drop religion altogether/ I'm 82 & don't care about hell
The Beatles were fans of Little Richard and John Lennon did a cover of this song and he took it to another level.
Never!
@@devonmoors Little Richard was fantastic but Lennon's cover was great and did take the song into another lev
el. Sometimes the student can surpass the master .
Indeed. Lennon’s version is just incredible… Makes a music with already a lot of energy and heart more even so.
he take shit to another level what is wrong with your ears
Never! This is unadultered New Orleans music with correct instrumentation incl piano and tenor.
Fantastic singer.
Slippin' and slidin'
Peepin' and hidin'
this is a goldie !!!!!
British rocker Dickie Pride did a Great Cover of this back in 59!
GOAT🎶❤🙌🎤
The King
Love this
Real rock and roll from the Master
Rock and roll in reality was always an optimistic happy music to dance and from there emerged modern pop and all forms of r&b later and it is a fallacy that rock is only music electric guitar
Thats my first song, my friend vince i wav i was doing the beat box version of this song, when he met me...I was eight, and it was 1975...
