    I'm still not 100% sure on Fury... All the goats are flicking mosquitos away from themselves with their tails so it's hard to say what's going on! What do you think?? I'll keep you posted!

    Next season, maybe you could put your shade cloth into a plastic tub? That way you could still keep it in your greenhouse.

    Good morning very fun video! Two things for you 1. You should go to some garage sales or better yet find all the folks you know that do and tell them just what you want. When they find it they can snap a photo and price to you and get it for you because it will get them all excited to help someone! Just be prepared for the folks that refuse to let you give them any money so you may have to find garden items to give them instead of money. Number 2 that could have been number one is that curl on top of Feral's head. If I did not know better I would think you have a pocket battery operated curling iron in your pocket!! He could be a movie star from the 1930's or 1940's. real good fun today thank you, Steven

    Lol, you're not a messy person. You're a mom intensively managing a flock of children and their schooling, a spouse and household, a farm, and a youtube channel and following. You'd probably be very tidy on your own with nothing extra, but you'd be very lonely and bored.

    #1 tip in dealing with wasps is night time is your friend, I end up setting a alarm to take out wasp nests at like midnight lol, a red light lets you see and they can not too.

    How exciting to see a fall kidding. The other channels I watch only kid in the spring and milk twice a day. So your channel aligns with more of what I want to do when I fianlly am able to get goats. That shot of pulling the shade cloth over was so satisfying. ❤

  • @kathyreier9269
    @kathyreier9269 Месяц назад +3

    I was thinking how I could pull the shade cloth by myself, I think that along with the 2 side put 1 in the middle and tie the 2 side to it? Too pull it over myself?
    Not sure if that would work but I would give it a try 😊
    I'm soooooo excited to see Stormy and Nefarious babies 😍 💕 they are going to be so gorgeous ❤
    I hope that Feral passes on his bangs, they are so lovable. He and the triplets are going to be stunning!
    I think that Margie was wanting Havoc?
    You and your family are AMAZING❣ I admire you and all that you do!

      @SageandStoneHomestead  Месяц назад +2

      She's never been with Havoc because they are both polled but she could have been wanting to hang out with Nefarious, lol!! In the past she's been bred to Odie, a buck we had named Barley, and Titus.

    I learned from a gardener in the UK, you can use the $3 emergency blankets as a radiant barrier in the peak of the arch of your greenhouse. It makes a huge difference. I have a shade cloth up, 40% but I still put up the radian barrier for early spring and summer.

    Watching the shade cloth glide over the top of the greenhouse was so satisfying! Suggestion: Can you put a certain color tape or paint on the grommets on one side (as well as the hooks they go on) before removing it to help with alignment for the next use? Also - very excited to see if Fury (and her sisters) really are able to be bred in the Spring! Curious why Nefarious would not be suitable for them (Shindy or Tizzy), since Stormy might calm down some if one of her flock was in there with her.

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead  Месяц назад +2

      He could breed them! The offspring would not be able to move up out of the foundation line and they could have Nigerian ears because all these girls have elf ear. So we are trying to move up in the generations with the minis as well as mantain the lamancha ear, either elf or golpher ears. With Nefarious, he will breed standard lamanchas this fall (with the help of a stool or the milking stand and we can retain a buck and some does out of him to get his lines crossed into the mini herd! :)

    I'm scared of the stinging insects too! Definitely a word of caution about where to store things, will keep that in my mental databanks for future homesteading haha. Along with the awesome way you used ropes to pull the shadecloth over, I thought that was awesome. I could see how it would be way easier with two people, but still feasible for one (like me) to do it too. Would probably anchor the second rope somehow (camping stake maybe?) until I could get the first side pulled over. Nef and Stormy babies are going to be gorgeous, and I'm super excited you decided to put Fury in there with Feral and Margie! I hope you maybe decide to try some more minis in there as well, depending on which ones you think you might want on a fall milk rotation. Feral is so sweet and gorgeous, am sure his babies with Fury and Margie will be lovely.
    💚💚

      @SageandStoneHomestead  Месяц назад +2

      Getting some minis on a fall rotation would be so fantastic!! It seems like it may have worked with Fury just need to wait and see what happens, she's one I might actually run a pregnancy test for to be sure instead of wondering and waiting. I can do that via blood test like we did before! You could do the shade cloth on your own. Ours is a tight (custom) fit so it's helpful to have one person hold tension while the other one screws it into the board.

    Alright Heather! Lol you’ve once again helped me feel confident with me goats…my milky buck is going on dates with my 2 no name nigey does. And come fall I’ll breed all 5 of my doelings! I don’t know what I’ll do with all those goats, so I’ll stay praying for buyers lol I’ll have tons of mini Nubians! And lots of milk 🐐🥛❤

    You might consider a few colored zip ties in the grommets along one side of the shade cloth. That might help with quickly ID’ing which side is which.

    Beautiful morning to you. I am so excited to see the babies being born.
    How come you don't show more of your rabbits and I can't say I've seen your quail.
    I know you are really busy, and asking for one more thing is probably not helpful, but I was just wondering.
    Have a great day, Pretty Lady

      We tend to show what we are working with most. The quail are just eating and laying, not doing too much but they are good! And we are at the point of the year where we are not breeding rabbits until it gets cool again. maybe in September? You'll see bits and bobs of both through summer but the garden and goats are the main "attraction" haha ♥

    You could colour code your shade cloth to take the guess work out which side goes where. A little florescent tape or paint and good to go!
    I do not like wasps either, on more than one occasion me, my kids or dogs have stepped on a wasp nest. No fun!
