- Set out with a plan of attack and the first part went as expected but the second failed again!
These Jumpinpin jewies have me pulling my hair out this winter....
Big school as usual but boy are they playing hard to get for some reason?
Luckily for me, the start of the day was good and and found a few thready's to scratch the fishing itch.
Juvenile fish like those threadys show how healthy our waterways are Pete, great to see.
Last few years of floods must of been a spawning event.
Do you catch them in Moreton bay
The Pin. Such a beautiful spot to fish, especially from a boat. Sandflies are a bugger in summer though. Nice work mate!
It’s a great place, especially this time of year with the mozzies and sandflies are asleep 🤣🤣.
Cheers mate
Hey Pete at the end you mentioned a new Rock FC 20lb fluro leader. What’s so different about it compared to the normal 20lb??? Cheers
Hey mate, 40lb. Brand new material, improved everything. Way more stretch, softer, better abrasion resistance etc.
@@Peter_Herbst_Fishing thanks mate. I’ll check it out. Been watching a lot of your vids and learning from you. I’ve also got a hummingbird on my boat too now absolutely love it. Was at the port on Sunday trying to pull out the monsters from the shipping terminals. Kept getting busted on 20lb rock fc so tried to tie fg knot with the black magic 40lb and could not do it! It kept slipping off when I applied pressure. I’ll try this new 40lb rock fc you are mentioning. Fingers crossed knots will hold 🤞
@@sonniesfishingadventures cheers mate, appreciate that!
I haven’t been down the port for awhile now, probably due for a trip there. New rock is good gear, big upgrade hey.
Great vid mate. Appreciate the sounder bits to see what's going on to add that science to the plan. 😎😎
Thanks mate!!
Cheers again for the support mate
Mate I feel your frustration getting those jewies on lures. I haven't really targeted them and didn't understand what people were complaining about getting them to bite. I went out on my local few weeks ago hearing that the soapies were on and decided to head upriver to some of the deeper holes and very quickly found out that finding the fish was the easy part haha. Vibed for ages with plenty of fish on the sounder, hooked up (and dropped) once then downsized to little 50mm vibes, tried a holt prawn even. I could see my lure in their face on the sounder but they just wouldn't take it. I think I'll put in a few more trips are in order to sort these fish out now hey cheers👍👍
I’m thinking (hoping) that they will start biting soon, as a little later last year they were very consistent.
Working hard for them makes it more rewarding when it does happen. Keep at em mate!!
Would be interesting to know what it is actually the cause of the sores in the mouth 🤔
Yeah! Some sort of parasite involved for sure.
Was at the pin yesterday and the tailor were crazy, every cast you where hooked, tried for jewys but did t get anything 😅
Tailor are always a bit of fun mate!!
Pin bar jewies got me pulling me hair out big time 🤣🤣🤣
Pretty cool pete
Cheers mate.
Bloody love catching threadies hey!
What area of the pin are you getting the threads? Thought they were just a brissy river thing..
It’s becoming common knowledge that threadfin distribution is now from sovereign island on the Gold Coast, north. The big question is, how long has this been the case.
Personally I have catching them for a long time outside of the Brisbane river. I find it interesting how species move around our area.
Great episode pete, listened to your podcast with Greg on the ALF podcast. Would love to see you back on there.
What electric motor have you got on your boat?
Thanks Henry!
Yeah, could probably do a threadfin podcast with ALF I recon. I did a couple talks at a Brisbane tackle shop recently on Jew and threadfin, so I’m kinda prepared….
Minn kota 80lb I pilot Terrova with a BLA 50amp lithium battery.
