You don't need Auxiliary power on once your main engines are spun up. Think of it like an alternator in a car but a little different. Once your engines are spun up, they will charge the main battery. The APU will just use fuel. Turn it off and you'll notice a difference in your range.
Typically, the aircraft radar isn't activated whilst on ground, for fear of microwaving various ground crew members. Since this isn't a simulation that is completely based on realism, I only mention it for the benefit of those who like to immerse themselves in the military aviator's world.
i am a try hard in this game that is disgusted by the level of professionalism in this video. who the fuck needs flaps anyways? why pull up gently if the max amount also works and gets you in the air faster? stall? overtress of the airframe? i can balance the plane vertically on the afterburner and its impossible to break the aircraft through manouvers, so i dont care about either of those things. A real pilot and simulation enthusiast would die watching me play this game as efficiently as possible, but for some reason, i dont turn on the radar while on the ground for the reason you gave. Dont fry the ground crew.
"Pitbull" during the Aim-120 means your missile is now tracking the target and you no longer need to keep him locked, the radar is taking care of the rest.

Wanna say thanks for an easy to understand tutorial. Very informative. I've ben playing game for a month now and haven't been able to go offensive due to my ignorance of using the weapon system going to see if I actual can put into practice what if learned. Thanks

I have been flying the Helo but when there are no servers, I jump in a fixed wing. I thought I had the weapons figured out but your video really does help me a ton. Thank you so much. You did a great job explaining and demonstrating for us
You can also send GPS via the TGP if you want to visually confirm the tank. Just lock it on target and hit the GPS-S button. Also looks nice on the cam if you hit something and you can check if target is destroyed from a safe distance. Otherwise really helpful video and would have saved me hours of trial and error :D
That was actually very useful. I just got the game and didn't really understand the bombing systems and anti-radiation all that well. Thank you so much!
you never turned off the APU... shame :D also you can uncage the AIM9 to make it ez to lock on and you don't have to drop the dumb bombs with sight. just mark a target and you will see a line and and a diamond that moves towards a drop zone

Idk if they had this two years ago but you can now use the targeting pod to send coord for bombs on you nav, very useful for high altitude less stressful situations where you may not know exactly where a target is on map but you can see them.
At 13:05 when your bomb hit yourself, it's because you banked left/right early. Usually, to prevent it from exploding on your wing, you wait 1 to 2 seconds until it enters its glide state until you can begin your turn, DO NOT BOMB UPSIDE DOWN, doing so is an instant death sentence to you and your aircraft. Toodles, you REALLY don't want those taxpayers at your door!
I know this is super "uM aCTuaLLY" but fox three is for active radar guided missiles like the Aim-120 while semi active radar guided missiles meaning missiles that are go look for a radar ping that is not their own are fox one. Infrared/heat seeking missiles are of course fox two also just wanted to thank you you were really helpful
forgot to mention the HMD. by pressing the hmd button near the master arm switch, or clicking the side of your helmet, your visor will slide over your face and allow you to see targets outside of your HUD. can also be used for night vision
One thing many do is, not using the visor. It gives you a huge advantage and gives you plane information, even when looking straight up or any other way.
8:47 - "We're going to be looking at the AGM-88" 10:08 - "Fox 3" Wouldn't the AGM-88 call be 'Magnum' not 'Fox 3' as Magnum indicates a launch of a friendly anti-radiation missile ( Such as the AGM-88 ), but Fox 3 would indicate the launch of an active radar-guided missile?

Good point, thanks!
The APU is really only used to get the main engines and systems operational and are then turned off.
A more accurate explanation would be a backup generator like for a home.

The visor makes everything better. Use it. It allows you to see past the little hud screen.
More effective but less challenging.
you can go to your equip menu and set the aim9s on head tracking mode and with your visor down you can track with your head and shoot
