The Xbox was a great first attempt for Microsoft. I still remember seeing and playing Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding and Dead or Alive 3 at demo kiosks. When I saw those games I thought graphics had reached their limit. And honestly, I still think those games look great. The reason I wanted an Xbox was a different game, though. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. As a big fan of the TV show, I just had to play the game. If ever you can, try the game out. It's a great beat 'em up!
I’ll check Buffy out, I never got into the TV show for no apparent reason... The Xbox was definitely more advanced than the PS2. It’s the template for all consoles that came after it, internal hdd and Ethernet/Xbox live changed the game! Many believe that it was initially being developed as a Dreamcast 2!? MVG has a good video on this...
@@retro-unboxing I've been considering maxing out the storage, 2TB should do it along with an IDE to SATA adaptor, should run cooler and use less power with modern hard drives
Great unboxing always wanted a cristal xbox, unfortunately Pal xbox cant do 720p the highest they can go is 576i unless modded also i would look in to replacing or removing the clock capacitor as they are know to leak and kill the console.

This brings back memories. We got a used one of these from my father's colleague, that was modded and loads and loads of games pre-loaded on it. Apparently, the colleague's kids had been a bit naughty, so his father gave some of his belongings away. Not that I complained at the time, but it seems pretty controversial thinking back!
Merry Xmas I got the Crystal Xbox for one of my Xmas presies got Burnout 2 & 3, PGR 2 but not bothering with the first game as it was rubbish the first PGR, I also got Ford Racing 2 & Racing Evoluzione and I have ordered Ford Racing 3 but not bothering with Ford Street Racing but I’ll probably get GTA San Andreas and Waiting for the double pack with GTA 3 & Vice City to come and probably more racing games like forza motorsport it’s a great console it’s the best Xbox can’t beat the retro’s better than the new gen ones
Hi I got the outrun 2 game today it’s a good one you get the bonus stage 1 (All Courses from Scud Race) and bonus stage 2 (Daytona USA 2 Power Edition Challenge Course) in this game which is the reason why I got it
So is this one of the versions of the OG Xbox where you have to change the clock capacitor? I heard in some Xbox consoles of you don’t change it it will leak on the mother board and ruin it.
Can anybody help with the yellowness issue! My Xbox crystal and controller are a bit yellowish! Any way of cleaning off the yellowness without opening it?
I got an brand new XBOX last March and it's a time capsule! However, I don't know why it had an issue when it comes to reading some discs. My discs are clean and they don't have scratches at all considering that 1 is brand new. But I don't get the reason why it doesn't read some discs properly. But man, I'm becoming an XBOX fan after playing this and the 360. I might get a Series X before eventually getting a Limited Edition Original Xbox or an Xbox One.
Ohhh man i bet yours has the unreliable thomson drive! Ones made in 2001 and 2002 had lots of those! The dvd drive on this xbox video is the reliable phillips dvd drive
@@califaern3sto Yeah. I remember somebody talking to me about my XBOX. Mines dated March 3 of 2002 which is the year of the Thomson Drive. It looks like I'll have to look for another XBOX 😂 It can still play games but its irritating to reset it in order to get the game to work.
@@oberonb-6129 phillips drive is reliable with no issues. Samsung drive is slightly quieter and faster @ playing discs although it has a problem ejecting the dvd tray
@@oberonb-6129 yeah, i have 2 xboxes one made in jan 2005 other in like july and the jan 2005 i bought new in march 05 its the phillips still works to this day the July 05 is a Samsung and it gets stuck ejecting and not its doing the flashing black screen of death while sound still plays. I just ordered a crystal white xbox made in mid 2004 also with phillips dvd drive i cant wait.

Still use my crystal Xbox, even upgraded the HDD to 300GB. Sadly the case is starting to become discolored now

Crystal versions were 1.6 and 1.6B's. You don't have to do that to those versions. Only 1.0-1.5.
