This was the first song I heard from them. It showed up on my Spotify discover weekly the week it came out. Thank the algorithm gods!!!

The effing poetry, dude. I'll never get over how the lyrics are absolute poetry embodiment. It's rare to see these days. Not many people can put a whole array of emotions into a couple of words.

This is one of my personal favorites! It’s beautiful, haunting and dark…and I think the music video is perfection! It just does it for me!

I'm really enjoying your journey into Sleep Token. From here on in, now that II has joined, you should notice a sharp rise in the quality of not only the drumming but also the music in general. Stay safe 🤘 ✌️

Thank you for coming along for the ride! I definitely agree, the drumming and percussion game has stepped up tenfold!

This song was a grower for me.. but it won me over big time. Like of many of their songs, it has its moments of beauty.. and I love that the beautiful moments are finite and not repeated. I find myself wanting complete silence when those moments hit. Also I notice that in Apple Music and lyrics pages,, only the drummer “II” gets credit for the songs on the “TWO” LP. Lastly don’t feel bad about giving your genuine response. The Sam smith technique and resemblance is valid. I do the same, I try and pin point what my mind and body are taken back to when music hits me. I love the genuine response. There has to be truth to it if you were taken there.

Very well put! Finite moments of beauty, I like that! I generally want silence while I listen to music anyway so I can properly soak it in (I understand it isn't always possible though!)
I am glad my random comparison didn't insult you though 😂 comparing one artist to another who is in a totally different realm of music is always a risky game.

One of my favorites! So pretty in the beginning and just a total contrast to the filthy and disgusting end to the song. All in the best way 🥰♥️

I'm really enjoying your reactions. I find your honesty refreshing, and am looking forward to going on this journey with you. In the only interview they've ever done, when asked about Calcutta, their response was a follows:
“Life is dark. Life is bright. Life is ugly. Life is beautiful. Don’t get lost in genres, they’ll only disorientate you. Music is for everyone.”
To me, this encapsulates Sleep Token perfectly. Cheers.

That is a great quote as well, music is for everyone!

Sam Smith is exactly the same figure that came to my head, too. Dw mate, both great vocalists with their signature sound regardless. 👌

Lol I talk with my hands too. I know what you mean 😂
This video trips me out cuz you get half a face, with close ups of the eyes and mouth....gotta say that the black substance is kinda gross looking when mixed in the mouth 😅, ugh gotta taste bad.
I know we can't really tell what he looks like with just that small bit but that blue eye....this is probably far out there, but did you ever see A Clockwork Orange? The lead man in that movie has blue eyes like that so it reminded me of him in this video. That movie is wicked lol. But cool in an eclectic way.
Glad you are feeling ST...they definitely are a vibe for sure.
Well good journey....until the next one 😊
    ❤ Worship ❤

I bet you are right, I can imagine the paint doesn't taste the greatest! 😂 and you are right, it is the piercing blue of the eyes I think!
Catch you in the next one! 🤘

I shoulda known an astute fella like you would pick up on the different vibe of this EP vs. One. I'm starting to think this whole Braindead thing is false advertising, haha. I'd be willing to bet Vessel would be the first one to say Sam Smith is an inspiration. Maybe it's just my age, but his falsetto reminds me of Barry Gibb from the Bee Gees. I'd be shocked if he wasn't inspired by him, too. Also, if you're looking for a few other bands/songs to check out, I got you. Disregard if you've heard of any of them, but here goes:
"Dana Dan" by Bloodywood (Indian Folk Metal... not a typo... and turn the captions on or you'll get destroyed in the comments). Other bangers include "Gadaar," "Aaj," and "Machi Bhasad." What I love most about these guys is that they have a message and they back it up with action. They wrote a song "Jee Veerey" about battling depression and then opened a free mental health call center in India. Plenty of other examples where that came from. Oh, and the song titles might give the impression that everything is in Hindi or Punjabi, but there's plenty of English across their catalog.
"Pisces" (live studio version) by Jinjer. Their song "Vortex" is a prog masterpiece, too.
Not sure if the Japanese metal scene is up your alley as it can be an acquired taste, but a band called DEXCORE writes songs that are essentially one big breakdown. "Red Eye," "Brainwashing," and "Earthworm," are full of insanity and surprises.
I just discovered a new metalcore band that blew me away. They're called Not Enough Space with two super-talented ladies on vocals. Check out "Don't Be Scared" and/or "No Way Out."
Last but definitely not least, if you're into deathcore and bands like Slaughter to Prevail, you gotta hear Distant. Permanent stank face. "The Eternal Lament" and "Hellmouth" are heavy beyond words. I swear the guitars are tuned so low that they have to be strung with telephone pole wires.
There ya go, that'll keep ya busy. Sorry for the novella.

It might be a little bit of false advertising 😂 I am glad I have a few people in my corner on the Sam Smith influence! I can see where you are coming from with the Bee Gees as well 🙂
Thank you for the suggestions, the only one I have heard of there is Jinjer and even then I have never sought out their music. So this will keep me going! 🤘

@@BraindeadBreakdown Awesome! I'm psyched I could help, but dude, I can't believe I forgot one more. Electric Callboy. They're a whooooole different vibe. "Hypa Hypa," "We Got the Moves," and "Pump It" are pretty popular (for good reason) among their fans.
