I've been liking my subsistence tricorn roll in both pve and pvp. I use yeet hammers and ashen. I used to use it with div and my forward path, but this has opened so many doors. In pve, I use a sunspots ashen wake build to keep up tricorn×2 and sunspot damage. It's a great gun!
You should try out Phoenix Cradle with the Sunspot tree. It may not be as flashy as Hallowfire or HoIL, but Sun Warrior is a nice 20% damage buff to your weapons and a good bump to your ability regen. Plus, Cradles let your teammates benefit off of your Sunspots too!
Got the Perpetual Motion, Golden Tricorn roll and immediately took it into the crucible with midtree solar titan and Path of the Burning Steps. Not only did the trace melt, I forgot how surprised a lot of opponents were when their stasis abilities seemed to brush right off me.
I thought so too. But I don't know why I've been having trouble with the weapon lol. It was either my thresh + graverobber Cartesian coordinate or this, and I really wanted to try this trace rifle. I stopped using it when I felt like it wasn't killing enemies quick enough. I should probably try again.
I think crimson is one of the best picks to pair with a harmony roll. You get your health and ammo back after getting the kill with crimson. This way you go into your next fight full health with a buffed trace rifle. I had a ton of fun with this in the crucible. My opponent’s…. Not so much.

Witherhoard and Rpath is awesome alomg with agers Nd Cartesian coordinate the best explanation is a heavy auto rifle its pretty solid especially in groups of ads
I was using this in PVe with Veritys brow on bottom tree with wells and high energy fire and the well damage and was hitting 2700 ish per crit consistently and getting nades back very fast. 100 discipline.
1. Path of burning steppes - 35% or charged with light 20% or sun warrior 25% 2. Golden tricorn lvl 2 - 50% 3. Font of might - 25% When particle deconstruction goes away this is a replacement for our vex. Plus u can put exotic heavy or whiterhoard. Amazing gun
Pair it with a solar linear fusion for dps (hello sleeper) You put on focusing lens or particle repeater, high energy fire, melee Wellmaker, font of might and elemental charge. All your damage perks are working together to help both your trace rifle and linear fusion. I have a golden tricorn subsistence roll and like to use middle tree hunter to proc tricorn. You can get some ridic fast kills when everything is stacking. It’s like the solar version of running Ager’s with reeds regret. Prob better for dps tbh. Opens up more doors for nightfalls as well.
I really appreciate the breakdown on this and the options of different rolls instead of just arbitrarily picking one gun for one play style in one sand box and calling it "the god roll"
Best D2 content creator by far. Thanks man. I've never used a trace in pvp till I saw this video. I'm pairing my roll perpetual motion and harmony with crimson. Get a kill with crimson, get full health and switch to trace with Harmony active. Total melting machine. I can't take it off lol.
I use a Harmony roll in PVE with an Osmosis Primary and Path of Burning Steps/Sunspots. The Osmosis gun activates Firewalker on kills, and then you can switch to the trace for a buff from both that and Harmony. I also use a Font of Might buff and the sunspots too - I have no idea if all these stack, but it means I almost constantly have a damage buff going. The best thing about this trace being a legendary is that you can also pair this with Gjally to instantly get Firewalkerx4 and Harmony going in pretty much one shot
I found a lot of success with golden tricorn as a top tree dawnblade warlock while using sunbracers in pve. I just become an aerial menace that's constantly throwing grenades and shooting powerful tricorn x 2 lazers. I kept tricorn x 2 up for over 2 minutes because it was just so easy to keep getting melee and grenade kills to keep it procced.
Been thirsting after a legendary trace for SO LONG, and this first one is great!. Gonna have to give that tricorn/athrys' combo a run in the crucible once i get one.
Mine I use Sweet Business and Retraced path. Retraced Path generates grenade energy and reloads when you use a grenade. When you find ammo for Retraced Path, Sweet Business completely fills it's magazine. Then spray until I run out of ammo, swap back and fight until I find power ammo, then hotswap back. Basically I can spam unlimited bullets for Sweet Business. It synergizes very well.
this thing has been feeling super weak in normal Crucible, and when I was using it in IB it was shitting the bed too. switched to prometheus lens and did a million times better, because I was able to actually finish off my kills! I do love the gun’s model and animations though, that spinning disc is so cool!
This is the first weapon that has made me actually want to use sealed ahamkara grasps. I have a fractethyst with assault mag, full auto and trench barrel which actually feels great with the 10% buff pellet shotguns just got and allows me to ignore reloads when I’m using trench barrel. Of course use this trace with golden tricorn and knife trick, it’s almost always at that 50% bonus damage, with each refresh of the buff also refilling the mag. Throw on melee wellmaker and don’t of might, that’s another 25% damage bonus for the trace and, of course since the heavy slot is open for an exotic, gjallarhorn, which pairs very nicely with sealed ahamkara grasps with the 2 in the mag. It isn’t something I thought I would have ever used but it is actually fun and quite powerful outside of end game content
I have a Golden Tricorn / Killing Wind roll and its absolutely insane with Sunspots and Phoenix Cradle for PVE. Get 1 kill with gun, proc GT, punch or nade something get a sunspot, go to town on murder spree. I'm a lunatic and pair it with Witherhord and a sword. It feels very titan and very fun
Haven't tried it in PvP yet, I did try my subsistence/one for all roll in PvE last night. It's definitely fun but not what I would call good without leaning into a build for it.
I just got a Tricorn roll yesterday so I haven't had a chance to really play with it, but the Harmony roll is nuts in PvP. You just stand back and shred people, and if you're rolling double Harmony with your primary then you're going to start terrorizing lobbies real quick.
I've been using the trace with Golden Tricorn with sunspots and Anshen Wakes. Had so much fun creating sunspots ramping up the damage and then the explosions from fusion grenades. Using well mods too for obvious reasons.
The trace rifle is a great step forward for these weapons but I’m kinda scared of these outshining exotic trace rifles in both obtainabilty and perk rolls. Plus most of the exotic trace rifles don’t have much good and useful perks.
I highly recommend using it in PVE in a double special setup. That way you can use your kinetic special weapon for utility or DPS (Blinding GL or Witherhoard) and use this for ad clear. It also has the added benefit of increased heavy ammo drops.

The opposite for me, I cant stand trace rifles in pvp especially with the flinch they get. I am loving this in pve. It being solar and just how good its perks are with perpetual motion and one for all being my fav the amount of potential builds feels endless.
I’ve made a build centered around Rat King. I’m using top tree Tether with Wurmhusk to sustain the life and invis uptime. My Retraced Path has Shoot to Loot and Harmony. I’ve yoinked heavy ammo from enemies with it and it’s been a lot of fun. Personally prefer the harmony buff as I can dealt it for a few seconds to maximize uptime in my next engagement.
Just used this gun last night just to mess around in some late night control matches, was going for my last triumph for the deadeye seal, ended getting 18 of the 19 kills I needed and was actually having fun in crucible for once in a little while
news article went out not too long ago about what happens when you put a laser on an apache attack helicopter. Attunement of sky, wings of sacred dawn. this thing with golden tricorn and killing wind. pair it with monte carlo. Build craft an endless supply of melee's for yourself and just endlessly engage in close to mid range duels shredding everything with bullets, lasers, and flaming darts. Apaches can be loaded with lasers, an m230 machine gun which has a 625 rpm (VERY close to monte carlo), a hydra rocket pod (inferno whip) and if you want to take the meme further bring a tracking rocket and now you have a hellfire missile launcher too. Attunement of sky warlocks can now truly attain apache status
I haven[t played with this weapon much, haven[t ever been a big fan of trace rfiles in PVP or PVE in the past but youor video gave me insight to some utitlity i hadn't considered before. Looking forward to trying some of the rolls i have stashed away.
I've got a Shoot to Loot/Golden Tricorne one that I absolutely adore. An amusing utility perk that's *literally* on a laser pointer, and the potential of a lot of ouch damage is awesome.
Wonder if cryosthesia could work with it for helping freeze enemies to dodge next to to get back throwing knife so you have more potential on tricorn x2 upkeep

I think a legitimately fun roll is using Phoenix Protocol and this gun on a 'Lock. Constant heals, revenging fusion nade energy, and damage buffs for the gun

Subsistence and all for one here, probably not as powerful as the tricorn but it’s definitely usable, been having a good time in gambit with it and i like not being locked into a class. Probably not as strong as riskrunner for the final boss of the 30th dungeon but it was very useful for this occasional red bars.
Feel like perpetual motion is a no-brainer here for PvP. I think my ideal situation is a 140 rpm HC in my primary, then a perpetual motion harmony retraced. I think that's going to be a very popular idea going forward. Something I think will be a sleeper pick though is Cryosthesia with the changes made to that gun. I think that would be ideal on a perpetual harmony retraced.
The damage just isn't there in PvE for it to be used as special weapon. You need to treat it like a primary, so prepare your build accordingly (double special weapon ammo setup). You just can't use this alongside a primary because it feels like double primary. I'm glad it's in the game, and the perk pool is kick ass. It'll be useful someday in PvE
I use my golden tricorn roll with heart of inmost light and bottom tree sun breaker. Always have abilities ready to proc x2, and I'm pretty sure it stacks with sun warrior.
My guy... Middle tree gunslinger, YaS, golden tricorn. Ad clear all day. Throw charge with light high energy fire or well mods and it'll feed into itself. Only downside is you run out of ammo fast.
Yeah it's absolutely one of the best guns in the game. It is VERY good. Easy, comfortable, a beautiful purple and it looks nice in general. 1,000 rpm and almost max rank is BEAUTIFUL
Even with frenzy I’m not crazy about this trace rifle, but at least it renewed my appreciation for the exotic trace rifles, especially Prometheus Lens, that thing is awesome with the catalyst, even without its great.
I love this gun so much but I feel like coldheart and pro-lens might need a bit of a buff now either in damage or to make them more of a utility weapon like the other traces
Yooo CoolGuy, I like Path of Burning Steps but what about Ashen Wake with middle tree?? Get the first kill with tricorn, buffed damage makes it easier to clean up with the fusion nade, then you have max tricorn and a one shot nade!!

I have subsistence / (Tricorn, Frenzy, One 4 All, Harmony) rolls for any situation. Haven't got a Subsistence/Demo roll yet only FF/Demo. Deleted the Genesis/Demo and S2L/Demo rolls.
Does Golden Tricorn stack with middle branch Dawnblade's empowered buff with its melee? From what I can see, it seems like it but I don't know for certain seeing as I've been running middle branch Dawnblade with a Subsistence/Golden Tricorn Retraced Path. I've been using it as my main workhorse weapon while I use a handcannon as a fallback if I run out of ammo for some reason.
I'm calling it: Next Season's artifact mods are going to be Unstoppable Rocket Launcher (with a debuff class item) Anti-barrier Trace Rifle. I'm not as sure about Overload, but I'm guessing it's gonna be hand cannon because it's been out of the rotation for a bit
Bungie has already stated that they are not doing any more mods like particle deconstruction or breach and clear, but yeah rocket launchers on the artifact seems very likely based on the trends from the past year.
What if you combined the sub/tricorn build with your perigin greaves + Monte Carlo? I did a full build with a YaS hunter and tripmines. But I used perpetual and demo
what's the best primary weapon type to pair with a trace rifle to have a well rounded loadout? the only weapon that I can think of to complete a trace rifle is a shotgun and with the changes to scavenger mods it's not possible to run 2 specials together anymore
I think mini hammer is the play here. Potential 100% uptime on your melee plus healing, just finish the occasional enemy with the hammer and tricorn can last forever
great review, but I dont see it played in pvp simply because its effective range is the same as HC or pulse so it doesnt make much sence to use it as your special.
I thought I wanted subsistence and Tricorn but I got subsistence and all for one... 35% buff for hitting three things is disgusting. This thing melts better than almost all of the exotic traces
My subsistence frenzy roll diddnt work for me that well, I ran a dares game and found it underperformed in ad clear compared to the other traces, golden tricorn seems like the perfect fix to add an extra bit of power

Prometheus and coldheart needs buffs. Wave splitter needs a catalyst and the others are fine.

iirc one of the biggest complaints about exotic traces is being blinded by muzzle flash,but this gun has almost none compared to them.
Clod heart is tricky as it could easily become OP like the original wave splitter but more consistent.
I highly recommend using it in PVE in a double special setup.

I think that's going to be a very popular idea going forward. Something I think will be a sleeper pick though is Cryosthesia with the changes made to that gun. I think that would be ideal on a perpetual harmony retraced.

The damage just isn't there in PvE for it to be used as special weapon. You need to treat it like a primary, so prepare your build accordingly (double special weapon ammo setup). You just can't use this alongside a primary because it feels like double primary.
I'm glad it's in the game, and the perk pool is kick ass. It'll be useful someday in PvE
I use my golden tricorn roll with heart of inmost light and bottom tree sun breaker. Always have abilities ready to proc x2, and I'm pretty sure it stacks with sun warrior.
My guy... Middle tree gunslinger, YaS, golden tricorn. Ad clear all day. Throw charge with light high energy fire or well mods and it'll feed into itself. Only downside is you run out of ammo fast.
Yeah it's absolutely one of the best guns in the game. It is VERY good. Easy, comfortable, a beautiful purple and it looks nice in general. 1,000 rpm and almost max rank is BEAUTIFUL
Even with frenzy I’m not crazy about this trace rifle, but at least it renewed my appreciation for the exotic trace rifles, especially Prometheus Lens, that thing is awesome with the catalyst, even without its great.

Got a peace bond with tunnel vision harmony and a retraced path with harmony killing wind and honestly it’s so fun to bounce them back and forth
I love this gun so much but I feel like coldheart and pro-lens might need a bit of a buff now either in damage or to make them more of a utility weapon like the other traces
Yooo CoolGuy, I like Path of Burning Steps but what about Ashen Wake with middle tree?? Get the first kill with tricorn, buffed damage makes it easier to clean up with the fusion nade, then you have max tricorn and a one shot nade!!

It's fine in pvp, you just haven't explored the ADS modifier in the settings. It was only added this season!

Played around with tricorn with top tree hammer + peregrine greaves and when I chained into x2 I was a PROBLEM
I have subsistence / (Tricorn, Frenzy, One 4 All, Harmony) rolls for any situation. Haven't got a Subsistence/Demo roll yet only FF/Demo. Deleted the Genesis/Demo and S2L/Demo rolls.
I got a FF/Golden Tricorn and a Genesis/Disruption Break on my first 2... was pretty happy xD

use it together with ashen wake, it makes for easy grenade kills and infinite golden tricorn 2x if used right
Does Golden Tricorn stack with middle branch Dawnblade's empowered buff with its melee? From what I can see, it seems like it but I don't know for certain seeing as I've been running middle branch Dawnblade with a Subsistence/Golden Tricorn Retraced Path. I've been using it as my main workhorse weapon while I use a handcannon as a fallback if I run out of ammo for some reason.
Looks like I'll be keeping that Subsistence/Tricorn roll I got.

I have a shoot to loot with harmony roll that feels great I use it for the dungeons to get heavy ammo from a distance

I'm calling it: Next Season's artifact mods are going to be Unstoppable Rocket Launcher (with a debuff class item) Anti-barrier Trace Rifle. I'm not as sure about Overload, but I'm guessing it's gonna be hand cannon because it's been out of the rotation for a bit
Bungie has already stated that they are not doing any more mods like particle deconstruction or breach and clear, but yeah rocket launchers on the artifact seems very likely based on the trends from the past year.
@@dawnraider0072 can totally see rocket scav and reloader being on the artifact next season for 1 or 2 energy
Titans with Ashen Wake and Roaring Flames would probably be pretty good with Golden Tricorn

the only weapon that I can think of to complete a trace rifle is a shotgun and with the changes to scavenger mods it's not possible to run 2 specials together anymore
It's solar so on titan run burning steps for another 30% buff along with tricorn
Its sad the first legendary trace rifle is just better in pvp than every exotic trace rifle.
Not sad if you use it in pvp :) that said its not even all that. Its okay though, but Theres much better pvp options.
I think mini hammer is the play here. Potential 100% uptime on your melee plus healing, just finish the occasional enemy with the hammer and tricorn can last forever

great review, but I dont see it played in pvp simply because its effective range is the same as HC or pulse so it doesnt make much sence to use it as your special.

I thought I wanted subsistence and Tricorn but I got subsistence and all for one... 35% buff for hitting three things is disgusting. This thing melts better than almost all of the exotic traces
My subsistence frenzy roll diddnt work for me that well, I ran a dares game and found it underperformed in ad clear compared to the other traces, golden tricorn seems like the perfect fix to add an extra bit of power
