The older I get, the more that the "new" stuff by bands I like suddenly is 10 years old. If you're not old yet, enjoy your time while you can. The emperor of sand kicks up the speed once you hit, say, 30. Then it all just whizzes by, and before you know it, you're old and Mastodon records you think just came out recently are celebrating their 10th anniversary.

That will never happen. There is an obscure interview where Troy clears the air a bit and puts water under the bridge. The bands won't talk about it anymore. Apparently Brent was just as much at fault and being drunk and annoying kept pushing to fight. There was a video on here where he did the same thing to Pepper Keenan at a festival and you could see Pepper trying not to fuck him up. I love Brent, but he's "that guy" when he was wasted. I'm sure he has finally calmed.

I wish they had kept pushing in the direction that Crack the Skye had went into. That album might be one of the most listenable prog metal efforts of all time. I still love them, but they definitely took a sharp left turn after this one, and started making more songs centered around hooks.

Seeing Mastodon tonight in Mesa Az. Made me a bit sad/happy seeing Nick John at 3:50. Thank you Mastodon for some of the most amazing music I have ever had the pleasure to listen to.

Easily within my top 10 albums of all time. Completely floored me when I heard it for the first time. Hope they play the album in full live over here in Europe too!
Also, super weird to hear Brent being serious in an interview :-)

This album is so good! Whenever I've introduced someone to Mastodon, this album has been the example.
Lifetime fan since I saw you in Austin on tour with Dethklok 2009!

1:33 that riff is such a banger, but I got to say, it has got to be an homage to Randy Rhoads. I remember Brann even played a polkadot Rhoads drumkit awhile back
