For the Digestive and Hepatobiliary Systems Workshop: www.evolutionar...
When I was studying herbal medicine in university at Bastyr, my teachers taught me that in traditional western herbalism, the human organism is likened to a tree whose roots are the digestive system. In this way, the health of the entire organism is utterly dependent on the health of the digestive apparatus- from the mouth all the way down to the colon.
In our modern world of genetically modified, processed, artificial, pesticide ridden foods, along with the overuse of antibiotics, over the counter antacids and anti-inflammatories, as well as the serious impacts of food intolerances and allergies, that the state of human digestive health is to say the least, not so great.
What a lot of the modern research is showing that a bulk of our common degenerative diseases are due to inflammation. Inflammation has become the enemy, similarly to the common belief that germs were the major enemy. But what many fail to do is ask the bigger question, which is "why are people inflamed?"
The answer to this lies in the gut, and the systemic response of the immune system due to things like leaky gut syndrome and food intolerance. The key thing here is: the gut issue isn't just a gut issue- it becomes a systemic issue. Everything from depression, brain fog, and anxiety, joint pain and inflammation, to serious autoimmune conditions like lupus and fibromyalgia, all may have their root in the digestive system.
So we can see how vitally important it is to have strong therapeutic strategies up your sleeve for holistic treatment of the GI. It's usually the first place I start with almost every client.
What's your favorite herb for the GI? Post below!

I have been trying to heal my leaky gut, candida,I've been taking marshmellow root to L- glutimine, both have helped quite well. I've been taking herbs for about 30 years,I don't eat preservatives, additives, sugar,no chemicals at all. Thru your studies I'm learning more about staying healthy,I don't take any big pharma drugs and I'm in my mid 60s. Great information that you give us to stay healthy.

My favorite herb mix I use just for most of my own ailments is ginger, turmeric, white pepper and matcha powder. I love teas, and I love mixing up new herbs into things my fiancé and I can enjoy together and that make us feel better

I had terrible digestive issues my whole life. I was studying and doing ayurveda, TCM, acupuncture, yoga, all I could find. What really helped me was going raw vegan and low fat. I don’t suffer anymore. I would love to be able to eat whatever I want but I am very sensitive to many foods but what I am so happy about is that I can eat without pain !!! Papaya is AMAZING for gut issues. As are herbal remedies too. Very interesting video. Thank you so much

I like oregano oil... some seem to be uncomfortable with it ... but, I’ve gone through short periods of raw vegan and have never had a problem eating any fresh fruit or veg in fifty years, never... recently took on a healing raw vegan diet after a long bout of unhealthy junk food consumption and it wasn’t painful but lots of gas and bloated feeling ... I did not think too much of it, but I started taking oregano oil as an all purpose antibiotic anti fungal (anti everything you don’t want) not knowing where or what kind of any overgrowth may be there... after a week of taking oregano oil, symptoms decreased immensely... at this point I still did not consider a connection until I came across Some SIBO vids by one particular content creator here on youtube (can’t recal name just now, but I can look up if anyone interested) who said that treating SIBO is best first approached by using herbal antibiotics ... and one should continue to consume the high fiber veg (ok to avoid particularly triggering foods) and said don’t take probiotics which is a common recommendation... you want to take those after SIBO is gone... anyways, this was the point when I realized I highly likely had SIBO and it was happenstance that I was on the right track using the oregano oil... I have had success with oregano oil for everything... might not be for everybody, but it has worked very well for me, my kids and people I advise... I am not surprised and now confident it is useful for digestive bugs... if that is a root problem. But it is important to use other herbal antibiotics ... best not to take daily oregano oil too long. Two months tops in minimal amounts, or one month if taking larger daily doses.

Hey, Sajah, thank you for this video. I was wondering about what you said at the end of the video regarding that workshop you held at that time - about the gut restoration protocol and elimination diet , do you happen to have available for buying this program of restoring, replenishing and rejuvenating the digestive system through diet and herbal medicine? Thank you

Whats your experience with the Birch Polypore? A tincture from it makes stomachache disappear right upon ingestion. I have watched a few of your videos but havent seen any yet on medicinal mushrooms, which are important remedies I think. Whats your take on that, thx!?

Carlos Arias I had hypothyroidism and treated myself for adrenal fatigue which can lead to hypothyroid I cut out caffeine, drank alot more water took licorice root and it was back to normal in 2 weeks hope this helps

Hey Carlos, I don't usually make recommendations for folks to take herbs for specific conditions as there are usually a lot of factors to consider, such as your constitution, specific tissue states, and other possible contributing causes to your health challenges. Sorry but we have to hold our integrity in that way- to just tell you take something could potentially do harm, or at the least not work.

its cool, id also recommend taking something like spirulina and chlorella for the iodine as we need iodine to create thyroid hormones, and there jam packed full of vitamins and minerals, all the best to you hope you get better soon muchos love
