You know something I always thought when Maurice played with Ladell Abrams it was immensely incredible, they worked so incredible together from the mid to late 90’s murdering everywhere they went with John P Kee and others, best combo of bass and drums I had ever heard up until that point but then I came across videos like this with him playing with Calvin Rodgers and I went OMG!!!!!!! Working with Calvin together, oh my god they were monstrous on a stage but we all know Calvin Rodgers is someone else when he’s on set, you can’t compare him to nobody he’s his own man and will give his all every time. Him and Fitz’s work together from the late 90’s to early 00’s was game changing all by itself. Maurice is murder on a bass period, game changer period, I saw him do this same thing with the late Marvin McQuitty for Fred Hammond, slayed it like a giant! But when you are an incredible musician with skill, an ear and are anointed you can just about play with anyone it doesn’t matter. Awesome work fellas!!!!
Does anyone have the other clip of Maurice Fitzgerald playing his white bass at one of these concerts? The quality was poor but it was by far one of the best videos I've ever seen. I think a little kid was on drums?
I remember that song, he played that white fender bass with a lil kid on drums and that groove was maaaaaaad!!! I still play it in my head all the time. I don't know why they took it down. The video quality wasn't too good but the groove was nasty.
Everybody who was somebody, making a name, up and coming was at this Christmas musical. On Bass-Maurice Fitzgerald Ethan Farmer JJ Smith Sharay Reed, R I.P. Anthony Harmon. Drums- Calvin Rodgers Quin Anderson Teddy Campbell Piano/Organ-Phillip Feaster Jason Tyson Jeral Gray Sr. I think R.I.P. Cornell Thigpen played. And as you see ones who didnt play were in attendance. R.I.P. Khari Parker. All the young at that time Scooter/ Jeral gray jr. Lenard Razor Bj "Benny"Edwards, Damien Farmer Donald Alford "Lil Donald"Bj Sledge. And myself DeAndre (Bass Player) in the top left corner behind Sharay in his solo on Joy to the world with Quin and Teddy. So many others to name. This definitely was a classic and historic Christmas in Chicago. They'll probably never be one like it ever again with almost the entire chicago musicians in attendance. Man that night was incredible and the music is almost undescribable. The greatest gospel/musical event to this day i ever witnessed.
I almost forgot, The Joshua Joint a christian night club(Sweet Holy Spirit)was also amazing after that featuring the young and up and coming, credits to Rick Robinson another incredible Piano/Organist from Chicagorecognizing the young musicians in the city.
@@AllOriginal5150 Yep and that's Teddy Campbell there in the front he was killing at that concert too, who was the little kid playing drums with Maurice tho?
