Rodgers and Hackett. I think Zach is finally being mentored/coached properly after two years. Everything you said, and on top of that a 32 yo. QB coach, Rob Calabrese, who never played or coached in the NFL; still on the staff, I don't know why, Rodgers is probably teaching him how to be a QB coach.
He could easily be the QB of the future. Hes not going to be looking to get paid elsewhere bc of his past struggles, so the jets could sign him to a super cheap, highly incentives based prove-it deal that goes through all of Rodgers tenure and a year after. Every single one of those throws that you show, Zach has a perfect pocket to throw from and some time. Those are things he's rarely had in the past. Normally he's running for his life immediately after the snap.
That's another half to that. He had a tendency to bail on the pocket too early bc he lagged behind on the play in his mind. In turn people will say the protection is bad, but in reality he didnt give them the chance. He's gotten way better at that so far

Good video again. I agree, finally Zach Wilson is being developed properly, perhaps he can become what Joe Douglas envisioned when he drafted him. This is why they put all the eggs in the Aaron Rodgers basket, gambling by not settling on Derek carr or other QBs, any other QB comes here and you may as well give up on Zach, but with Rodgers it's not only a win now move, I'm sure it was about developing Zach Wilson.
Great Breakdown of how Zack has made improvements. However i watched the Jets vs Bucs game and Zack still has sooooo much to learn about throwing a 5 yrd out and 10 yard slants. He missed plenty of guys and the ones he hit, he did not hit in stride.
I think you hit the nail in the coffin here, progress. The 2 year plan of putting Zach into bubble wrap so he could learn under A-Rod is developing nicely. The real excitement after this is 2 years though. Nice content as always! Keep up the awesome work!

Proud of Zach the coaches and those mentoring him he is going to be a beast
Love that you focused on all the stuff he struggled with last year. Footwork, stepping into the pocket, and staring down receivers. I'd love to see some analysis of him reading defenses and setting protections for himself up front. Something else he struggled with.
Not dealing with a knee injury, new OC to establish a fresh start, Hackett and Rodgers, reduction in pressure being the backup. He did look good in preseason his rookie year so I’m hopefully but reserved. If Geno Smith can turn it around, I look forward to Zach’s comeback as well. (Darnold’s too in SF!)
Considering all the duds we've had, seeing a draft pick improve at the QB position is amazing. I went to both practices this week and he looked better than ARod in my opinion. Thanks for this review and your replies.
Besides Rogers being a gr8 QB. He can also ( we hope) fix the bad tendencies that Zach has. We all have seen Wilson miss the easy throws, atrocious foot work. And most of all, making the wrong reads. I'm still a fan of Zach. Finally he has some professionals helping him in Rodgers and Hackett. LeFleur was terrible. When Rodgers leaves, we will have a seamless transistion.
Lmao. It's the most overlooked aspect of getting Aaron. He can train to leave behind someone to replace him that we invested in. Zach is still green and can now learn to play in system that has a guy running the offense and knows how to. Lefleur has an offense mind but does n't know how to be and OC yet. We have only scratched the surface wit Wilson. His biggest issue is tryin to go for the homerun every time. He is now learning in order to win take what the defense gives you. The good defense can cover their weaknesses not every team has a top 5 defense. he will learn.
I made no excuses for Zac last year. He was awful. That said how much did he lose by going down in that first exhibition game and miss a big chunk of the preseason. No big deal for a seasoned pro but time an uncertain young QB could ill afford to lose. Heartened by his progress. If they can get to complete the easy stuff and every so often he can make a 30 yard laser outside the hash hey maybe we got something. I'd be more them happy to go from his biggest critic to his biggest fan.
Wilson looked like absolute dog shit in the game against the bucks throwing behind receivers on multiple plays. When rogers retires we are going to be back in hot water. We need to ditch Wilson and start making moves on a real future qb
I mean, he was 9-13 and had a 40 yard run. He wasn’t dogshit. He threw two balls out of 13 where he didn’t intend to. One of them was a bad miss. People always want to be so egregiously hyperbolic. No Wilson, no Hall, no starting OTs, no AVT.
Mike Lafleur ruined this kids confidence and didn't teach him anything he got worse under Lafleur that says it all I think wilson strengths are like Rodgers throwing the ball outside Zack should be blessed he has Hackett to and Rodgers to teach him right and wrong Hackett will tailor the game plan to Zacks strength and not ask him to do what he can't do so it's a win for everyone.
No Rodgers does not have an effect on Wilson. Wilson is in his 3rd year and a starter the last 2 years going against 2nd and 3rd team defense. You hope he should dominate his opponents.
Wilson for the most part, has played without both his starting tackles, AVT, Wilson, Hall and more. But of course, people are too ignorant to factor that in. Your comment is nothing but fluff
I've been saying this for a while, physically he's very good,he's totally loss, now with the addition of AR#8 this is the perfect remedy for Zack!I'm glad you caught this on film!I'm hoping some fans catch this and realize what's going on!This a great film,KEEP IT UP!JET UP!
He best ever Zach Wilson best ever letsss gooo no no no u letsssgoooo Roger getting better butjetsnot playing him 😳 play Zach tonight 3 quarter please god hopefully 🙏 tonight 3 quarter
I feel like you need a better O-line and the new O-coordinator is fixing Wilson. Face it, the old coordinator was garbage. You couldn’t even run the ball for yards at times. Wasn’t all Wilson’s fault last year
Elijah Moore told MLF that he sucked. I’m sure there was a reason for that. The offense was a mess and ZW was completely lost. Whose fault was that? Probably everyone from Saleh down but bringing in an experienced OC seems to be turning the offense around. We will see.
2:20 We've known that ZW could make this pass. The reality is he took an incomplete pass over a 15-20 yard seem pass that was there. This is why his completion percentage was so far down. So I disagree that this is growth on Zach's part.
@@PlayLikeAJet At some point they will. Not sure what is funny. If Salah wants to keep his job and JD wants to keep his job then keeping him out of the starting line up would be ideal.
Well he didn't show any improvement tonight against TB.... He's still got happy feet, throwing screens at the feet and zero confidence in his decisions. Jets should have invested in a really good Backup QB...
No they shouldn’t have. Wilson went 9/13 and a 40 yard run in this “horrible performance”. He didn’t have 3 starting OLmen, Hall, Wilson. His decision making was overall correct He had two bad throws. You could be the lowest on Wilson in the world and he’d still be a middle of the road backup QB
@@PlayLikeAJet play calling was VERY conservative as he threw a couple of screens on 3rd down. Wish Hackett would have let him try and convert downfield. I get that its pre season and you dont want to show your hand - especially on 3rd down calls - but would have been nice to see him let it rip. People will always nitpick ZW and pre season or not, that was his first game back in front of his home fans that booed him last time he was on that field. Hackett/Saleh wanted to play it conservative so he could take a step forward in that stadium. Good move by them
Jets have a 50 million dead cap hit from AR in 2025. They also need to pick up Wilson's 5th year option at 23 million. It's not happening, Zach is done in NY. If he takes a team friendly deal he still isn't a option. You can't hand over the keys to a Ferrari to a QB who is in the conversation as worst QB to ever play.
@@PlayLikeAJet The dead cap hit is 49 million spread over 25 and 26. They have the option to restructure and use the 3 void years and spread the 49 over 5 years. They won't do that because the Sauce draft class needs to get paid. They need to use the 1st or second to draft a QB.
Its a combination of many positive changes that are ideal for Zach or any young NFL QB.

It was the only option at that point and it’s worked out to be the perfect QB for the short and possibly the long term
On that throw to Carter in any other situation before he would have took off and ran out the pocket 📚🤓
Let’s hope
Tom bready for Vice President operation
Good luck lol
Wilson looked like absolute dog shit in the game against the bucks throwing behind receivers on multiple plays. When rogers retires we are going to be back in hot water. We need to ditch Wilson and start making moves on a real future qb
I mean, he was 9-13 and had a 40 yard run. He wasn’t dogshit.
He threw two balls out of 13 where he didn’t intend to. One of them was a bad miss.
People always want to be so egregiously hyperbolic. No Wilson, no Hall, no starting OTs, no AVT.
Show his running throw looked exactly like Rodgers
If you mean the bootleg TD, it’s on there
It's looking good.. he might turn out ok... We shall see
Let’s see!
Really disliked the way he carried himself tbh
Zach the Hawaiian Superman…his dad went to the same high school I went to…couple years older than me…McKinley Tigers…🐯🐯🐯
That’s awesome. Let’s hope he gets a real shot later down the line 🤝🏼
Zach I was saying getting better but not playing him
Zach had to fix his feet this is looking promising for the kid.
Definitely a step in the right direction
I feel like you need a better O-line and the new O-coordinator is fixing Wilson. Face it, the old coordinator was garbage. You couldn’t even run the ball for yards at times. Wasn’t all Wilson’s fault last year
You’re telling the one Jets fan that was anti Mike LaFleur from day dot lol.
But this is a huge Rodgers influence too
He's lucky to have Aaron Rodgers there he would have been over for
True
Yes he is
👀👀
Zachy Poo is backy poo 😎
I’m ready to be intolerable
Hackett and Rodgers
For sure. A lot of what I was looking at was from a stylistic perspective
Elijah Moore told MLF that he sucked. I’m sure there was a reason for that. The offense was a mess and ZW was completely lost. Whose fault was that? Probably everyone from Saleh down but bringing in an experienced OC seems to be turning the offense around. We will see.
I was beating that drum early, re MLF
Pumped up tonight to see baker mayfield turned into a sack of potatoes
He can do the wow stuff already so it’s only a matter of time before he’s looking like byu.
Speak it into existence
Just cuz your good in college means nothing in the NFL. If the NFL had open tryouts like they do in Brazil and Africa you would get better players...
He needs more time.
He’s going to get it
Aaron will show Zach that a QB can only do so much, not to try and win the game by desperate attempts.
Patience.
There is no fixing wilson. Best place for him is at the wendys drive thru.
2:20 We've known that ZW could make this pass. The reality is he took an incomplete pass over a 15-20 yard seem pass that was there. This is why his completion percentage was so far down. So I disagree that this is growth on Zach's part.
This is the right ball vs the coverage and I’d bet a lot of money they chalked that up as a positive play for him in their review
Last season he was dealing with mommy issues after all😊
baby steps
100%
Zach will be cut before then blink of an eye and should never see the field as a starter ever again.
You think they’re cutting Zach? 😂
@@PlayLikeAJet At some point they will. Not sure what is funny. If Salah wants to keep his job and JD wants to keep his job then keeping him out of the starting line up would be ideal.
He needs play more In preseason he can’t play 2 quarter 😳 he needs these reps I hopefully not hope he plays 3 quarter tonight hopefully 🙏
They need play him more then n game
You get nothing out of playing him with bad players. Zach should play until second stringers are out
He's gonna have at least 2 full quarters the last preseason game.
More like into late 3quarter leave at 5min mark
Rodgers is a pro what could they possible show him in preseason he hasn't seen in 20 years? Have some free agent linebacker take a cheap shot at him.
It’s pre season, who cares
Lots of people should and do care about lots of young player’s preseason reps
Nope
Well he didn't show any improvement tonight against TB.... He's still got happy feet, throwing screens at the feet and zero confidence in his decisions. Jets should have invested in a really good Backup QB...
No they shouldn’t have. Wilson went 9/13 and a 40 yard run in this “horrible performance”.
He didn’t have 3 starting OLmen, Hall, Wilson. His decision making was overall correct
He had two bad throws.
Nah they don’t. They spread out small cap hits over 3 void years. Made a video about it.
I always believed in Zach and of course having "No score LaFleur" hindered his progress..
Yeah I was also not high on MLF during his stay here
