great lesson. It's Amazing that 把 used to be the hardest thing to wrap my brain around to being the thing that makes the this whole other thing a lot easier to digest.
Unfortunately the ba structure just confused me more, as I had just thought I was grasping it all, ie, about the split position in past tense and putting directional compounds at the end for future tense. But I guess the ba form is just an alternative you can use that has the simple rule of putting everything at the end, notwithstanding past or future
For all the examples using 把, the object of the verb in English was always preceded by "the". In other words, the object was something specific. If we substitute "a" for "the", then the object is not something specific, and I believe 把 should not be used. For example: I brought *the* cake home = 我把蛋糕带回家来了 I brought *a* cake home = 我带了一个蛋糕回家来
@@qianfeizhou8265 Perhaps "a cake" can still be specific. If you pick out a cake at the pastry shop and bring it home, then it's a specific cake. But if you bring a cake home (rather than a pie or muffins), then it's not specific, and probably the 把 structure should not be used.
One more excellent class, Dear teacher! Thank you

Hello!

Sorry to hear that
@@ChineseGrammarSimplified no worries! Your work is remarkable. Thank you

For example:
I brought *the* cake home = 我把蛋糕带回家来了
I brought *a* cake home = 我带了一个蛋糕回家来
I believe in your example, Chinese could still use 把 when an unspecific object is involved.
我把一个蛋糕带回家来了。
Another example with 把 and unspecific object is, 我把一包垃圾扔出去了。We use number and measure word to indicate a general concept as well like ‘a’.
