    6:50 The problem is what you try to emphasize by using the constructions on the right. In addition, 走路, 跑步 and 开车 are 离合词. So they can only be interpolated with a modifier for the noun (object), for example, 走回头路,跑小碎步,开倒车。

    it's interesting that if we replace 去 with the word 走 in some cases it sounds more native😊

    5:15 我买回家来了一个蛋糕 is not quite right. Please be aware of the sentence construction 存现句 which is equivalent to There be/exists/comes/goes in English. 来了一个蛋糕 can be interpreted as: There comes a cake. And 我买回家来了一个蛋糕 can be split in the middle and end up like this: I bought back "home", and there came a cake. It's like I pawned my home and now am buying it back. It sounds weird but not completely impossible. Likewise, 朋友带上楼去了一些礼物 can be interpreted as: My friend took along "a building", and some gifts went. It is because of these illogical ambiguities that native speakers won't talk like that. Furthermore, they are verbose and redundant anyway. The natural way is 我买回家一个蛋糕。我买回来一个蛋糕。朋友带上楼一些礼物。朋友带了一些礼物上楼去。In case of the 把 construction, indefinite quantifiers such as 一个 and 一些 must not be used. So you can say 我把蛋糕买回家来了。朋友把礼物带上楼去了。

    I think that one common use of the directional complement 去 is when someone is annoying us and we say:
    给我出去!("Get out!")
    Here, 去 clearly indicates "away from the speaker". :-)

    My answers to the test questions:
    1) 那些老人正在慢跑过来。
    2) 她开车到公司去。(if the speaker is at home)
    or 她开车到公司来。(if the speaker is at the office)
    3) 我的风筝上天空飞去。

    • @andyhuang4228
      @andyhuang4228 2 года назад +2

      All your answers are correct and your Chinese is pretty good, but i have some advise for you.
      1. Totally correct.
      2. 她开车到公司去 or 她开车到公司来 is a little bit 「口语」( i don't know how to describe that in English, maybe "non-formal way of speaking in daily life"?), and a lot of native speakers do say in that way, . But I think 她开车去公司 or 她开车来公司 is the "more correct or formal" way to say.
      3. 我的风筝上天空飞去 is a correct sentence, but it means "My kite went to the sky and fly". If you want to say "My kite flew "up" to the sky in order to emphasize "up", 我的风筝飞上天空去, 我的风筝飞去天空上 or 我的风筝飞上去天空 may be a better way to say, although there were still very tiny difference between each others haha. If you're interested about the difference, i can describe it later.
      (I'm a Chinese native speaker, and I don't know why this video popped up on my homepage of youtube. LOL.)

    In theory, you can say: 爸爸买回家来了一些礼物. However, in reality, it's rarely used. why? too long, too much info in one sentence. We like to skip what we can and keep the essentials. I think your videos are great. However, sometimes it's too grammatical, which might cause unnecessary confusion

    • @ChineseGrammarSimplified
      @ChineseGrammarSimplified  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for your input. I can see where you are coming from. At the same time, even though 买回家来maybe rarely used, 带上楼去 is definitely something we often say. The structure is therefore important to understand.
