The idea of exposing yourself to a variety of contexts to know when it's appropriate to use particles, certain words, verb compliments, is a good one. I think it applies to so much of language learning. You need to get yourself to a point where you are hearing words in context and being exposed to tons of material that you understand well, then you your brain will just imitate and repeat automatically, soon enough without any effort
This not just great and simple but it is also new I have been watching videos of learning Chinese and could not find one deals with this.. Thank you Sir and please Do Not Stop

This video is very simple and helpful, thanks, but I have a question, where else can 见 be used? can it be used for like 吃见？ or is it only for 看?
In modern Chinese, it's pretty much only used for 看见 and 听见。

I think it's nice that in Chinese, 见 can mean "to perceive", either by seeing or by hearing. So, on the phone, we can say 再见, which could be interpreted as "Hear you again". In English, we never say it this way, instead, we often say "See you later" on the phone (which actually doesn't make sense). So the Chinese works better in this respect.

For example: 我看完到了书。- is it correct this way?
You can't say this...it's wrong. Do you mean you managed to see this book and you finished reading it? I would say: 我看到了这本书，并且把它看完了。/ 我看到了这本书，还把它看完了。

It's often used just like 完, but also with a hint that the result is "well".

Hi. Very good explanation. There is one moment a bit strange for a native speaker. We don't really just say: 听！我听见了一只猫 （Tīng! Wǒ tīng jiàn le yī zhǐ māo）. It sounds incomplete. We might say: Tīng! Wǒ hǎo xiàng (好像, seemingly) tīng jiàn le yī zhǐ māo de shēng yīn (声音, sound).
Interesting. The grammar book I'm currently reading says that the object of a verb needs to be appropriate for that verb. For example, "I heard a book" doesn't really make sense, because a book is not a sound originator. Perhaps "heard a cat" is a borderline case, because a cat could be a sound originator. But I do think it sounds more logical to say 我听见了一只猫的声音 or 我听见了一只猫叫.
@@mountaintag yep, grammatically correct doesn't have to be truly correct :) "我听见了一只猫叫. " in this sentence we'd better say: 我听见了一声猫叫. or 我听见了一只猫的叫声.
You are right, there are more authentic ways of saying these. However I just wanted to use the simplest vocabulary to make the point.

I'm sorry as I didn't see your comment until 4 years later. LOL. I hope you had figured that out by now. But if you haven't, 成 means “to become”, as a complement, it essentially means "as / to".
For example, 看成 = to see something as..., usually used in expression "A 把 B 看成 C", which means "A regards b as C (by mistake). "
Another example would be A 把 B 做成 C, which means“ A turns B into C. ”
Hmmmm, would it be...
我去错了商店。"I went wrongly to the shop," implying my destination was correct but I got lost along the way, and may or may not have got there in the end??!? Or...
我去完了错商店。"I went to the wrong shop," stating that I completed the journey, but the destination was wrong?
The second makes more sense to me. (Online translation translates both as "I went to the wrong store.")
To me 我去错了商店 means I went to the wrong shop. 我去完了错商店 is odd and I don't say it like that.

No, 离合词 = verb object compound words. Ex. 吃饭；看书；睡觉；洗澡
The second character is actually the object of the sentence. They are not the result of the verb. We can actually use 离合词 with 补语：
吃完饭，看完书；睡好觉；洗完澡。

Yes，but we have a better word for it which is 以为。We usually don’t follow a specific thought after 想错了。
@@ChineseGrammarSimplified 好的， I talked about this with my colleagues today and we came to an agreement that 以为 tends to mean when you "believed" something happened but in reality it was not the case (like I thought there was no cake left but now my friend is eating some) and "想错“ is more often used to say when you thought incorrectly or you come to a erroneous conclusion - like in a test if you thought the answer was one thing but it was actually another. 你想一样吗？

panda panda The only difference is that 听到 emphasizes the “success” which might imply a certain level of difficulty. So when you ask people on the phone “ can you hear me?”, they will answer 我听到了。

What’s the 的 function here though? I can’t understand why it’s making the 吃 apart, like, “最好中国的菜” ain’t that the same sentence? I don’t understand the usage of 吃的 here, thank you either way!
好吃 = good to eat = delicious
好吃的菜 = delicious food, 的 is connecting adjective 好吃 with the noun 菜
最好吃的菜 = the most delicious food
Similarly,
好看 = good looking = beautiful
好玩 = good to play with = fun
"I can't see the book" is translated as "我看不到这本书" so does this mean that if I say "我看到这本书" it means "I can see the book"?
That would be 我看得到这本书。
in case of Kan Dao, succeeded in seeing the book, why cannot it also mean succeeded in reading the book?

it's not clear to me, wo kan shu is also I read a book, thus why would wo kan dao shu not mean I succeeded in reading the book instead of seeing the book which is an awkward sentence
Patrick Van Gelder let me answer your question with an English example. Why does the word “restroom” mean “bathroom”, instead of “a room for resting” like “living room” or “ lounge”? Because over time, the final meaning of a word is what the society agrees upon, and not always the most logical outcome. All grammar lessons are after all backward rationalization. Natural languages are never logically airtight.
中国（的）菜？is there a hidden 的 in that sentence?
I think you are right. Because a two-syllable adjective usually needs to be followed by 的. But in fact 的 is often omitted. Otherwise, some sentences would end up with a lot of 的s. For example, the sentence 我吃到了最好吃的中国菜 already has a 的 before 中国菜. Besides, 中国菜 (without the 的) is commonly used for "Chinese food".

As in I succeeded in learning how to use the verb complements?
Would an adequate translation be I managed to learn? We managed to eat the best chinese food (as n we spent an entire day looking for a good restaurant but we finally managed to find one and enjoy the food).
