Oh dear I see loads more craft supplies in my future! I’m so happy to be retired and be able to work/play with all my crafts, keeping me busy and my heart happy❣️
I have never needle felted before, but I've watched videos here and there. I do SO many crafts that my son and his wife couldn't decide what to get me for Christmas. They decided to start me on a new journey, so they got me a felting starter kit and some other items to get started. Your channel was the first one that came up on my search and I am SO thankful for the detail you go into - without being too slow and "boring". I can't wait to get started on this new crafting journey - thanks to your wonderful tutorials and informative videos! Thank you so much!

I want to thank you for your videos. My daughter just got her first Southdown sheep and I will be making (trying to make) her one out of his wool. Thank you so much, you explain everything very well in detail.
Hi there, Philippa, I have just found your channel, I have only read about needle felting which seemed a bit overwhelming, not knowing anything about it but I am keen to watch your videos and get some supplies online. Your explanations and all the positive comments from viewers make me feel it might be doable for me, I am not at all crafty but feel I need something to do with my hands.
Thank you so much for your tutorials, they are amazingly helpful. I am new to this hobby, have been curious about it for years and I am finally able to have the time to learn.
What a clear tutorial! I just finished my first little penguin the other day and really like the process. I ordered another kit, but your video showed me that even as a beginner, I don't have to depend on a kit to make an attractive piece.
I am new to felting. I watch your videos over and over. I appreciate how easy they are to follow. I love your sheep and highland cows. I have already made 3 sheep. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
Fantastic tutorial; I like your comment if it was easy everyone would do it. I’m a beginner but loving the process thank you. I’ve looked at a lot of your tutorials. Xx

i like making felting so my mum bought me a heidifethers kit and lots of white and i tried to make a sheep.i love to make felting i made 2 ladybugs and a pumpkin also my friend made a sheep🐑 and gave me it.
Yes, probably depending on the breed of sheep, if the wool is too thick it might not felt well. Best thing to do is wash a small sample and give it a go xx
Phillipa I'm having trouble finding something for the "core" of my felting; which my understanding is that you don't use the wool roving, but instead use like a wool "batting"? You can't use a polyester filling like for a stuffed animal I guess, eh?
Looks like so much fun! I think this craft is going to be great for me because I can fix mistakes pretty easily (LOL). I gotta tell ya, I love your accent and I do appreciate learning the correct way to pronounce some terms better known in your area across the pond (I'm in the Northeast of the US.). Anyway, the sheep are adorable. I was wondering, is it hard to make the animals smaller - like at least half the size? I keep picturing myself doing a little farm animal scene. [No need to reply, I'll figure it out. LOL]
It's great for mistakes! Just pull the wool off and start again! I made one half the size for my mum so it's fine, just watch your fingers as there's more chance of poking them with smaller makes. Thanks for your lovely comment and for watching x
Great video. This made me think of perhaps making these using wool dryer balls. Do you know if it would be possible to attach the head and legs to a super felted dryer ball?

Hi! I’m new to this part of the artistic world. I made a mistake with trying to make a sheep with armature so I took it out. Im a bit lost anyway how big should I make the head in comparison to the body?
Hi, with the sheep in this video the body is about 3 inches across and the heads are about one and half inches long and an inch wide. These sheep aren't realistic so it doesn't matter too much. With a more realistic sheep it's probably about 4:1 ratio with the body length and head size x
Are wool felted items washable please? .. my first look at doing some, it's quite exciting .. I have always been a knitter/crocheter in my young days at school .. men and women (mostly men) coming back from the war needed warm clothing etc to help them recover .. my mum showed me how to knit socks when I was about 8 or 9 yrs old .. but I digress .. sorry .. arthritis has settled in my hands now but I still have to do something useful .. With my 7 grand kids (older now) and 12 great grand kids all knitted for .. I'm hoping this will be a craft easy on my hands .. I do like cross stitch as well which is ok to do, but I'm excited about trying this .. I study all your videos Phillipa .. I find them easy to understand .. I intend to show grandies how to do this as well .. I will get all the preparation things needed and give it a go... thank you so much ... 👏 cheers Janet
Hi Janet, How amazing that you can crochet and knit, I am just starting crochet and yes, it is hurting my elbow but I am still enjoying it. So you don't wash needle felted items, the wool have been prewashed already. Wet felting is another area that I don't do but that uses water and you could probably wash those items. Needle felting is a great craft and not too hard on the hands. Any items you make are fairly delicate so I only sell as adult ornaments as they are not safe for young children and pets but if the children are older and don't pull the creations apart then it's up to you as to what they could play with. Thanks for watching the channel xx
Thank you so much Phillippa ... I'm glad I mentioned the washing bit ... I'm so looking forward to starting my wool felt items ... thank you for your wonderful videos .. 🦘🇦🇺 in Oz, I could sneak into sheep farms and snip some wool off .. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
No, not for my RUclips videos, I do on my paid products. It's up to you if you make them bigger or smaller. For the specific curly locks for a 3 inch ball you wouldn't need more than 50 grams to cover it.
The fuzziness is an issue, I trim the yellow ends off or separate them and then they can sometimes look less yellow. With the fuzziness you may just have to felt them tight to the ball to create whatever effect they give you, doing them in swirls might help a bit but it's tricky. Thank you so much for watching x
The body is about 2 to three inches across, it's up to you really as I've made a really small one for my mum so you can adapt it, make the head about a 1/4 the size of the body. I don't know what beginner kit you got but check you have enough wool colours to make this, most don't come with much wool. Check out my suppliers video if you need to buy more, good luck x
@@feltsbyphilippa yay Thank you for responding. I have been wanting to try this for a long while. Since I'm just beginning and you are absolutely right. It did not come with good amount.

👏 cheers
Janet
Hi Janet,
How amazing that you can crochet and knit, I am just starting crochet and yes, it is hurting my elbow but I am still enjoying it.
Definitely or they will probably give it to you as they don't get much for wool these days 😁xx
So cute!
I think so too, thanks x
The first wool do you make a big ball shape
Yes, a ball shape is perfect x
@@feltsbyphilippa OK good as I can only do balls and sausage shape
Do you know of a place that sells the wolf for felting that isn't outrageously expensive for just a minute amount?
World of wool is the cheapest price and best choice.
Great. Thank you🦋
Thanks for watching and commenting x
Is there a list with the amount of wool I need for each section of the sheep?
No, not for my RUclips videos, I do on my paid products. It's up to you if you make them bigger or smaller. For the specific curly locks for a 3 inch ball you wouldn't need more than 50 grams to cover it.
My border leicester wool locks are very fuzzy and yellow on the ends have any tips for separating the locks so they dot look so fuzzy
Thanks Pippa its is a challenge I will send you my finish sheep so you can see what I mean❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank would be good and easier to understand, border Leicester...I will look up that breed too x
Ok I just bought a beginners kit. It came with a lot of stuff just no instructions. What size would I use for the body?
The body is about 2 to three inches across, it's up to you really as I've made a really small one for my mum so you can adapt it, make the head about a 1/4 the size of the body. I don't know what beginner kit you got but check you have enough wool colours to make this, most don't come with much wool. Check out my suppliers video if you need to buy more, good luck x
@@feltsbyphilippa yay Thank you for responding. I have been wanting to try this for a long while. Since I'm just beginning and you are absolutely right. It did not come with good amount.
@@feltsbyphilippa may I please ask what that video is titled?
This is it, hope it helps, some people have mentioned other suppliers in the comments too x
