I love these vlogs! I always watch them as I do bio revision & whenever my brain is breaking a lil I look up & see Simon working so very hard & I get motivated to dive back in
Hey Simon! I would love to know more about the problems you had with your code and how code for science works! I'm in uni for college engineering starting my master soon (hopefully) and I'd love to work on something that eases mathematical/physical computation so knowing your approach/problems might help me get started! :)
hey, I just found your channel when I was looking for information to prepare to move to the UK to do my masters. Thanks for being so engaged and inspiring! Because of you, I was motivated to start my own blog to help people from Brazil to go abroad for their graduate studies :)
Great Vlog! I get excited like a little 5 yr old every time I a notification that something new is out. Your vlogs keep my motivation up for my own work. Good luck with all your work - love the cryosphere series ;-)
Hello Simon. I loved your videos and have been watching for around 3 months say, and it is safe to say your content is really enjoyable and inspires me to work. I recently watched your 'How to study effectively' video. It was really informative, however you stated that you should try to timetable around 8 hours of work a day. I am fine with working that much, however I physically can't. I am a student and have school from 8am until 4pm. I try and timetable 4 hours of work a day. I know people say you shouldn't ask how many hours to study and that it changes from individual to individual, however how much did you study a day on school days? Thanks!
A lot of people (me included) would definitely like to see your code. Also if there are no copyright or personal issues, put them up on GitHub. For Science!!! Good Work Simon. Take it easy. Pushing it past 3.00 AM is a bit too much. Even for someone as busy as yourself.
@@engineeringvision9507 Very fun returning to this comment. That summer I ended up falling in love with programming and later on I decided to become a Software engineer. In my third year of doing that now and loving it.
Hi Simon, great vlog as always! for those of us soon to be starting or already doing PhDs, would you consider making a video all about the viva? Thanks! and I'm looking forward to the programming video.
Hey Simon Clark, I know your busy and may never read this but I want to ask you a few questions What do you think of Quantum Field Theory? What do think of particle physics and the standard model? What knowledge do you have of String Theory Or General Relativity?
yesssss was looking forward to this :D Edit after watching the vlog: I don't actually watch the crash course videos because that is not really my interest. If you feel like most people care about the vlogs and not the crash course videos, you should put more effort on that. :)
Also, i have a question - how do ur family feel about ur (likely) decision to persue film making/media instead of physics /acedemia? Are they supportive or confused or nervous or excited for u?
Simon Clark *looks up what campanologists are* 😂🙈 Indeed we are! I'd put your vlogs up there with Casey's, possibly slightly higher actually as they motivate me to study! 👌📓😄
Simon Clark haha no worries! I love your instagram by the way, have you considered doing any vlog content on the instagram stories feature? I'm @justasnapshotintomylife on there if you're wondering who this random kid is! 😂 there's a lot of inconsistency in my usernames 🙈😄
Hey Simon, it's a silly question to ask (it's about life in Oxford), but , do we have to do jobs like washing & Ironing our clothes and cleaning our room etc. ------With Respect-------
Yep you're required to wash clothes and all that good stuff - but colleges provide staff (scouts) who take out your bins and the nice ones will tidy your room
Your reaction when being notified that Casey Neistat just uploaded a new video , is the same as mine when I get notified about your videos . Of course with all do my respect to him , I mean I'm a big Fan of his as well . But your videos are appreciated for sure . By the way I would love it even more if you make a detailed video about editing , it's going to be so Cool and very useful as usual haha , I'm excited already for the idea . I also can't wait for Vidcon vlog and " A brief History of time " book club video . 😁👍🏻🙌🏻✨
I'm also a PhD student (in California) and I consistently struggle with taking the weekends off. I usually just take Saturdays, otherwise I feel guilty. Though, it sounds like the culture of my department is decidedly less pleasant than yours.
As someone who tried filming drunk baking with his boss at the time and only ending up with 8 minutes of wall to wall mayhem to show for it, you have my sympathies for trying to salvage boozy activity videos. Like seriously we had a fire. It was not in control.
Both my mum and my dad love cooking so I copied them from a young age! A lot of what I do now is self taught from being a PhD student and having my own kitchen though
When you think this is an intellectual vlog and it turns out to be a bunch of alcoholics with a camera. My best 40 minutes this week, thank you Simon.
Haha I aim to please!
who else looks forward to these vlogs ? feel so productive when I watch them :D
Polar me! 👌😄
Oh god! I swear it happens the same to me. I feel like doing stuff and getting more organized than I already am.

Hey Simon, I really appreciate your work!, this crash course is amazing!
at 17:08 the guy behind Simon was taking a photo of him. It probably looks dumb to vlog.
These week as a PhD student vlogs are the highlight of my week.

Na Simon that bowling montage would have outclassed even the most professional of drunk bowling broadcasts.
Editing and production quality is insane in this episode, some real great transition shots, especially liked the Sunday Train shot.
Thanks dude!
Great video as always! Hilarious, man, keep it up!!
I will love the video about the code! I'm in college and looking at doing something with computing/coding in Uni. I would love to see how you do it!
Do a video on the code 👍

Is there still going to be a video of a Q&A with the music PhD guy?
The train transition at 33:00 was really cool. Wonder how late Simon stayed up doing that
That Sunday transition was awesome.
Can someone tell me which week as a PhD student vlog Simon went to this theater where he and his friend threw spoons?
Your productive work on the PHD makes me very excited for my summer research this summer! (first time doing research)
And now you too have your phd?

I had to pause the video at "yass gurl" cause I was choking from laughing :)

Oo yet another video for me to watch :)
I'm quite curious about the code and I'd certainly appreciate a video on the matter.
Simon, I think you accidentally flipped the recording. All the cars are driving in the wrong side of the road.
39 minutes ooohhhh yeaaahh!!
