  • In a more dangerous world, the need for vehicles such as the Challenger 3 is imperative as the threats facing the UK evolve. This tank will be at the heart of the British Army's warfighting capabilities and will be integral to the UK's deterrence." Said Grant Shapps, UK Defense Secretary

      @marijnnn4992 my understanding was that of the 227 tanks the army has that only 148 would be upgraded to challenger 3 spec and the rest would be used for spares or put into storage.same with the Apache helicopters, 67 of the older type with only 50 again upgraded to latest spec with army losing 17 airframes.
      Army has no mass at all now.

      We are an Island nation! We have filled a decent tank quota mainly to rightly support our NATO obligations to aid any ground operations in Europe, what we desperately need is a cutting edge airforce with credible air defences and more effective navy to properly police our waters.

    Does the new gun and the standard international rounds make up for the now defunct HESH round which cannot be used to its best efficiency with the non rifled, 120mm smoothbore gun on the new turret?? The reason if you don’t know is the HESH round needs the spin so that when the round hits the target it need the spin to squash and spread over a larger area to to effect a greater impact on the target!!

    The Challenger is the best design tank! The sloped armour in the front, good advanced armour, now a Top of the line cannon that will increase range and velocity at least 1000 meters more and all NATO and non NATO 120mm rounds, a new Engine was what the Challenger 3 really needs and a 20x139mm Hispano cartridge calibre on top for anti drone tracking and destroy, but better solutions have to be develop for small cheap drones that are targeting not only by impact but using a Strim 65 or AC-58 or even APAV 40mm from top of the tank by dropping a anti armour granades like that are very effective agaisnt armour vehicles or tanks, so some system that is cost effective like a huge shotgun blast weaponary that reach at least 200 meters and that fires a cloud off buck shot or even rabbit pallets at great speeds and the Russians reach the same conclusions because i already saw them testing a huge plastic cartridge with shotgun pallets to try to eliminate at least a part of the threat posed by drones. But talking about the Challenger 3 its just a very well design tank like all the Challenger Variants but its just a heavy tank British engenires should take at least close to 10tons from this big iron. But let me say 10 million for each 148 tanks that is a incredible small number of tanks to upgrade and 10 million a pop no way! But the British are to blame they say no way a foreign tank, dont need to be a foreign tank, Rheinmetal AG and BAE already have a joint partnership, and this company should be jointly developing a new tank that European countries like France and Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium and others like the Netherlands will be upgrading for a new system by 2030 for a 2 years diference and maybe even sooner if the British jointly develop and invest less that they have spend, they would get new and Top New Tank with a 130mm L/51 cannon from Rheinmetal AG or the new Ascalon from KNDS and a total new system i dont understand the British

  • @grahamjones6106
    @grahamjones6106 23 дня назад

    So this is the new state of the art British main battle tank. First of all, no matter how good our military high command and politicians claim it is, there's only going to be 148 of them, so unless they are able to fight in 10 places at one time, they're not exactly going to be a force to be reckoned with. Then there's the fact that we've barely got any soldiers for them to support, and with the fact that our army is so pathetically tiny, who's going to be there to re fuel, and re arm them? They are a lot heavier but are powered by the same engines as the previous challenger 2s, so they're really not going to be as fast as claimed and they are going to be running out of fuel a lot faster. The one positive thing is that,at least the Germans will play a part in its construction because. Just about all of our weapons and especially naval ships that are built by British companies simply break,or are absolutely crap!
