I’m just wondering how that would work lag-wise for certain players? I could definitely butterflies covering the screen as a flash or them moving smokes though! Or maybe it could work depending on how it is stylized?

*[Clove Abilities Theory]*
Given:
- The butterfly theme.
- The Battle pass teaser banner name "Chrysalis"
- Phoenix's voiceline.
- Cypher's Empty body bag voiceline (empty Chrysalis?).
- And the devs teasing that the agent will having "a beautiful moment" after death:
I think the agent will represent the life cycle of a Butterfly.
Where a butterfly will first be a Caterpillar, and then a Chrysalis, and finally a Butterfly.
As such, I think she will start every round in normal form as a caterpillar, and when she dies she becomes a chrysalis for a period of time (vulnerable + stationary), if she manages to survive the chrysalis period she becomes a butterfly that is able to (in someway or another) provide value for the team.
So basically:
1. Caterpillar (normal form)
2. Chrysalis (stationary form after death)
3. Butterfly (free form)
This could be a passive ability, or more likely, an ultimate ability.
Where if its activated, she is able to then transform into chrysalis rather than die.
In addition, I'm starting to think that that Clove's (C) ability "Pick me up" will be a an ability similar to Kiriko teleport from Overwatch, but slightly tuned down.
I believe (C) "Pick me up" will allow Clove to mark one of her teammates as a target to teleport back to later when needed, allowing her to escape dire situations after entering a site for example.
This could also be her Entry ability, but it requires another teammate (I.e. Jett or Raze) to actually enter and then you follow suit.

clove ult will allow her to fly like a butterfly and have a replay system spectating the whole game
I have a feeling that, based on Fade's voicelines, she's going to have a flash and silencing ability. Maybe when you get snagged in her smokes, you get deafened and short-sighted the same way Fade's dog debuffs you when you get bitten.
Also, I have a feeling that, since she is going to be a "frontline Controller", her smokes are not going to be like Brim's or Astra's where you need a map to place down smokes. She'll probably have a more urgency based smokes like Jett's Cloudburst or something similar in nature.
She will likely be supportive smoke’s considering their desires role for her

Dropping smokes creates a new life, seems like her ult.
About the ult, after watching to all these intel. I have an assumption on how the ult will work.
Clover will activate the ult by marking the spot of revival. There will be butterflies marking that spot similar to ISO’s and phoenix ult marking there return spots. And then a timer will begin. During that timer, if clover dies, she will be revived from that exact spot. 2 Worlds clearly means, upon getting hit she will travel through the dimension of dead's.
If this is the case, then cypher is going to get new voice lines about Nora.
Second guess, she will thread a cocoon on a specific spot. Upon googling I found out something interesting; across cultures, butterfly has become a symbol for rebirth and resurrection, for the triumph of the spirit and the soul over the physical prison. This can likely be the case IMO.
I think it's more of a die and still use abilities than a silf revive.
It's a new concept and works will with what cypher and Phoenix said.
And sova said that the new agent is combat ready, even if they weren't (meaning dead) the radiant abilities also helps
possibly mollies that are smokes - not like jett’s but like a brim molly
that would be very interesting
theory on how clove's self-revive is gonna work:
as long as clove is within a certain radius of their smokes, they can revive at the center point of the smoke, but the smoke that clove revives in force dissipates within like a second of the revive
this is probably gonna be an expensive triggered ability or their ult, and the smoke that clove will revive in might have some visual cue
i don't know how clove is gonna place the smokes but the charges are probably gonna be similar to omen's 2 orbs on consecutive cooldowns, maybe clove is like viper and harbor and has to throw their smokes like a normal projectile or throws them like jett and can guide them until they hit a surface without a travel time limit or smthn
maybe the implied flash ability works more like an omnidirectional cascading wave that blinds like dizzy? idk how it would be deployed but maybe food for thought with the butterfly aesthetic
A crazy thought i just had was that Clove might be able to use her ultimate to take control over a dead body. It will take a while to form as it has to do the chrysalis thing first but i think she might be able to use the dead bodys abilities or still have their own. I also think one of their abilities might be a movable smoke controlled by butterflies with a muffled or noise cancelling passive. Another will probably be a flash similar to skyes but has the same effect as gekkos (blocked by a giant butterfly and not dizzys goop). As for the phantom and different world hints, idk. It might have to go with their ult like Astras X or Omens E.
after looking at the player card again, its clearer now that its a butterfly coming out of a smoke, this could be interpreted that whenever clove dies, she drops a smoke to where she died and can come back to life (my speculation)

I just hope she will not be too weak at release, cuz I would like to learn a new cool controller since viper will probably get some huge nerfs.

my guess for the revive ability: the new agent will be able to revive after dying at a certain spot like phoenix, they can activate their ability and it will make a cocoon, then when they die, they respawn at the cocoon
i think clove will be able to place smokes even when dead, and her revive ability will be that you can choose anytime to revive during the match, but i also think the other has a way to stop her from using her abilities, maybe she becomes a butterfly when dead and as long as she’s not shot she can use all her abilities
Smoke Dancer sounds like they will be able to maneuver around the smokes “dancing with the smokes”.
Another thing that comes to my mind is the performance aspect and reviving. Could be that somehow after death or by cheating death, they will be able to spawn from the inside of their smokes..??? Or something like that.
In general, I think we might see some form of agent that can go in and out of their own smokes.
I feel like she'll be similar to astra, but can maybe teleport between her smokes as her second ability and may have a stun or flash as her third ability, her ult may be like sage mixed with iso,s focus bar, which allows her to revive herself or for a short period with a speed buff or something.
*Here's my predictions on Clove's abilities:*
- I think that because she will be a more aggressive controller, that she will not be able to place smokes globally like most agents. Instead, I think they will restrict her smoke ability range in some way. For example, she may be commanding the butterflies to create the smoke anywhere where she POINTS TO. This would tie in to her being able to get more aggressive. At the very least, I predict her smoke placement range will be more restricted than with other controllers.
- One ability will allow her to come back to life, yes? The fact Phoenix is the one saying that thing about her coming back to life suggests to me that it might have something to do with her theme of butterflies - she may be able to place a temporary "checkpoint" of sorts where while the checkpoint lasts, and she dies, she will explode into butterflies and butterflies will re-spawn her on that checkpoint.
- The hint about her having flashes is another thing that I think will make her more similar to Phoenix. I'm predicting that her "flash" will actually be a series of tiny flashes (butterflies) that will flash for short durations, but at high intervals, in whichever direction she sends the flash(butterflies) towards. It's possible that due to epilepsy issues, that she will be "flashing" with her butterflies, and the butterflies will not be giving any epileptics seizures, but instead, will block vision similar to Gecko's flash.
- Her final ability is probably the hardest to guess, but there are mentions of a "teleport" ability. In that case, I think it could be similar to an Omen teleport. But I am predicting that there actually won't be a teleport ability, instead, possibly some gray-area ability that's not EXACTLY a teleport ability like Omen's
- If she gets a passive ability, no idea what that could be. Maybe some kind of movement passive like Jett's or Neon's? Maybe she could jump/fly for a very short distance horizontally/vertically? Whichever direction would be more balanced for the agent, I think.
I believe that Clove will revive within one of the smokes she places earlier in the game. This not only allows her to help teammates, but also give alternate ways to take space within the map. I already know this agent is going to be very exciting to play
It could be the mixture of Astra Smokes Phoenix Revive and Flashes
just had an odd idea for the self revive being tied to smoke dancer in which where the agent can revive themselves within one of their smokes (maybe an ult) and wherever they died they can teleport to the smokes and come back. think fake rushing A with your smoke on B, You use Ult then die and pop back up on B with your team.
Hear me out: they have a passive that lets them go into a special state like reyna dismiss while in their smokes. This would enable them to get away with playing more aggro, and would explain the poem at the end of the vid where it describes them as like a “phantom.”

What i think is that clove can play as a human agent but upon death will be changed to an ethereal form which can still deploy smoke...but not attack, like IANA clone from R6 which can be used to scout enemy team. They might make the ethereal form shootable as well.
CSGO had a haloween update where once you die you will be in your ethereal form. It was only there in casual and you cannot communicate with your teammate via text chat nor voice chat.
I think one ability will be to voluntarily “die” to drop some sort of smoke/flash combo, and then they will be able to come back after a cooldown maybe. Seems interesting.
I believe based on the clues, that Clove will have some sort of ability like phoenix ult, on which ideally she would run towards enemy, killing whatever she finds, and if she dies, se will die leaving a cloud of butterflies, marking the place where she died and covering the sight over there. Then she would return from the spawn point like phoenix does.

I think this agent will also be able to put down smokes even when downed. Ult will definitely be a self revive with a delay, possibly being able to shoot her cocoon. Definitely a butterfly as a flash as well? Overall seems really cool!
My guess is that you can pop ult while you're dead, you go into a chrysalis for a few seconds which the enemy can break to cancel, after which you revive. I don't like the idea of having to learn lineups to place smokes, it basically relegates her to second controller or an inferior brim.
I could imagine her her smoke to be the following: When id decays, or you shoot it, i dont know, a butterfly would fly out and flash enemies, like in the battlepass card, maybe you can cancel your smoke to pop a flash
I think she will have and omen ult but in game it will say she dies before she tps somewhere else with sky like flashes or pheonix like flashes plus obviously smokes and i can't wait to see a smoke agent that flashes itself out from it's own smokes hopefully she is just better pheonix meaning no fire wall of self heal and just actual smokes
in the picture with Omen in a library, there is actually someone behind him (100% Clove) so we have a reveal of his outfit and else!

heres a cool idea:
the butterfly is an ult
the butterfly will be thrown (like a kayo knife) and explode, and the closest person to the butterfly will be selected
the person selected will have their ult used for Clove

My guess on her move:
-Deafening Smokes, activates like brim or astra
-Active Flash, What if SHE was the flash instead? Literally js walk out and turn into bright light.
-Teleport, she can fade away into hundreds of butterfly and tp to any of her smokes that she puts down, this rlly can either be her ult or an expensive move.
-Now my assumption for her ult it is gonna be like a conditional revive where she can only use it once she is killed, after being shot if she have her ult she can use it to return from the dead, kinda like a self recovering Kay/o. Would be way diff from Pheonix second chance, since she can linger as a dead spectator to get intel before coming back from the dead.
Here's what I think
She can equip a skill and if an enemy killed her a smoke will pop out of her body that will instantly crystalize (same to Harbor's cove) then eventually she will be revived inide of it.
But maybe her cove version is unbreakable or has a bigger health than Harbor's.
I think the ult will be something like phoenix where it places a butterfly cocoon and after you die you emerge from that cocoon.

Create a clone made of Butterflies that she can switch with at will, or even when they kill it it leaves behind smokes? Maybe the clone stays in place to not be to close to Yoru.
I got a feeling he might be able to smoke after he dies, maybe that in someway is the benefit after you die, so you can play controller without worrying about frontlining

I have an interesting theory about Clove's abilities based on all the clues we've been given:
Clove will be able to deploy a pink/purple smoke screen similar to Omen or Brimstone. However, their smoke will have a unique property - it will actually form a protective cocoon structure.
When Clove needs to revive or reset a fight, they can deploy the smoke and then channel an ability to enter the cocoon. This will cause them to disappear or teleport a short distance, represented by Cypher's line about vanishing.
Inside the cocoon, Clove will be shielded and healing up over a few seconds. Then, a burst of hundreds of butterflies will break open the cocoon from within, allowing Clove to re-emerge fully healed and ready to re-engage.
The butterflies could even act as a flash or disorient enemies briefly. This would fit all the hints about bright lights from Fade and re-emerging from the cocoon. It perfectly captures Clove's theme of transformation.
Let me know what you think of this theory, I think Clove's unique take on the self-revive mechanic could really shake up how controllers are played. The cocoon shielding also makes their more aggressive playstyle viable.
my ideas of what the abilities will be
signature ability: butterfly burst
send out a butterfly like a sky flash that goes through walls and pop it to unleash a large smoke
secondary ability; butterfly tp; place down butterflys with a max distance of around a omen tp and within 20 seconds of placment you can dash over in a quick invisible smoke form to reamerge at that location after a quick animation to turn into the smoke
third ability: crysilys of slumber:
throw a smoke orb witch bursts into a buterfly after 3 bounces. after bursting anyone near the buterfly and in its line of sight will be put into a sleepwhere they will most likley have to do somthing like shoot buterflys on a hand popping out of smoke surrounding their vision to quickly wake up if they are in its LOS for too long
btw the uly would be a slef revive obvyously
with all these, I feel like this agent has a smoke that moves forward like harbor... may also have flash as well, yeah confirmed. Hourglass? that seems to be the stuff with lighter in one of the trailers, so the agent may have a slow...
... but a resurrect? a body bag? so if the agent gets yeeted during the ultimate, she comes back to the body bag and smoke two points? flash the enemy upon getting yeeted?
are her utilities throwables like Viper? frontal like Omen? or motion type like phoenix blaze/ harbor cascade?
just a thought, please make the subtitles 1 or 2 words longer so it's not so hard to read please. I personally have a hard time hearing and the subtitles disappearing is a little frustrating.

I think the agent can self-revive inside smokes placed by her and only be able to stay inside the smokes. So she has limited vision but by strategically placing the smokes you'll be able to maybe make some kills.
Maybe the smoke will also follow her around (because of her code name "smoke dancer")

If not self revive, I'm thinking of an ability where an agent can place smokes similar to how Astra places her stars before the game starts. If the smoker agent dies the teammates themselves can still trigger the pre-set smokes or stars to get some covers.

She seems like a very good agent
I'm excited for the new agent, but her self revive just fills me will a bit of sad energy.
Not about her, I'm really hyped for her. But for Phoenix. My man's abilities need work done on them and I feel like it's never gonna happen 😢
Molly is fine, more of a self heal thing.
Flash is also fine (in my opinion)
But his wall is low heal, short lived, and really limited.
His ult is also at times really problematic with it's long finish animation, and how easy it is to just troll.
My jack of all trades arsonist is massively overshadowed by the plethora of new agents Riot keeps releasing instead of fixing the poster boy for the game.
I see phenix mains a lot in diamond and they use phenix so good.
Literally its just predictable flashes and wall otherwise it's best duelist
All I'm sayin is that we shouldn't get our hopes up, all the agents after Fade have been disappointing/mid/bad. I personally think some of them like Gekko and Harbor are good, but their picks in pro play say otherwise.
