I just signed the papers for my 19 month old to get evaluated. I work in the field, and knew what I was seeing, but kept stuffing it down...hoping it was something he would outgrow. He's been in early intervention services since he was only 8 months old. However, having suspicion of autism confirmed by the speech therapist put a dagger through my heart and I had a complete sob fest before sucking it up and moving along to request the evaluation. Autism isn't a bad thing. My husband has autism, he wasn't able to talk and read until he was 13 years old. And was also head bashing when he was a toddler. He didn't see any specialists or what, was homeschooled by his parents 'til highschool. Because of his mother's patience and faith, she never gave up on him even after doctors and people were discouraging her back then. Now his son is married to me for 3 years now and nobody even thought that he has autism. We have a 1 year old kid now and it seems like he has mild autism as he is really smart for his age and he's bashing his head too when he's really upset. But yeah, having children that have autism will never be easy but us parents are the ones that could really and primarily help them.
@Sarah Stevens His mom would read books to him and she would encourage him to tell the story back. And she also encouraged him alot to talk about how his day went, she thought him the differences of emotions so he can express his feelings. In socializing, he said he couldn't look at people straight or would be difficult to focus on looking at them when they're talking so she taught and trained him to look at the person's junction of the nose and eyebrows when they're talking to him. With reading, she used "Hooked on Phonics" and have him help teach his younger sibling how to read.

She did have an ear infection, so could be related to that, but I'm starting to get concerned. Doctors have asked to wait another month to see if any progress. Its so heart breaking to see her regress like this.

It's hard watching your child regress and not make any progress, especially when you're seeing other kiddos your child's age doing all of these things that they just can't do yet. My son had a double ear infection about a month ago, however he had all of his symptoms before and I didn't really notice it affect his development or symptoms. They'll want your daughter to be free of fluid in the ears during the evaluation, as they generally do a hearing test and having an infection could throw off results.
@@randomestperson121 honestly, I've spend the whole day crying now knowing what to do and why it's happening. She was absolutely fine up until before the infection. If you don't mind me asking, please could you tell me what signs you noticed first? Apparently they won't do a hearing test until she's 2, but I can't exactly wait that long to know, I feel so helpless

I just want to thank you for making this video. Because of this video and you talking about the bad bacteria in your sons gut, I have been able to target what I think is the root of my sons autistic symptoms. Watching this as a means of education since I work with autistic kids. They’re such genuine souls and soooo bright. You’re doing an *amazing* job in helping your son in all ways. I work away from home and my wife told me last night. I reacted so badly I sometimes feel I can't forgive myself for my initial reaction. I would like to acknowledge you for noticing and then acting on your concerns. I work with infants and toddlers and often times when I bring milestone or development concerns to parents they will not hear me. I do not know why. It's so frustrating when my main concern is finding resources for the child.

@@nataliewright4164 do you use special schools or "regular" preschool, daycare etc. What about mainstreaming school in the future? My niece was mainstreamed but it had huge obstacles for her. Is it hard to find specific schools on the east coast for kids with spectrum and delays?

@@mgarci99_13 months is not too early if all the symtoms are there. Usually that means a degree 3 of autism. The spectrum is broad and some babies shows signs as early as 6-8 months.

I suspected Autism in my son since 4ish months. Everybody and their mother thought I was crazy, I was dismissed and told it was just first time parent worries. Well my son is 20 months now and a new pediatrician finally saw what I saw. Along with (just recently) my husband’s mom who is an Occupational Therapist. He just had an intake observation for a program. Recently the insane tantrums are draining me along with never hearing him happy. I’m always waiting for the next whining or tantrum. I’ve been able to be the calm he needs with all I read to help since he was a baby, but it’s exhausting! I’m so glad you and him got help, I’m so happy to be getting help soon too! 🥰 I never once felt heartbroken over it, I just knew he needed help I can’t give him and I was desperate for someone to at least listen!
@@madimars9935 I switched pediatricians. If they’re not willing to at least hear you out and take notes to and refer you to a program for an evaluation, or early intervention, run! The first 3 years are crucial!
@@mmmkayy89 I have worked as nanny for wealthy families and I have seen few kids diagnosed with autism. Autism from my perspective doesn’t have one shape or unique line . Kids with autism can have different behaviors. But the one thing I notice a lot was heating their head , tantrums and they will not Seattle with anything. Noise will bother them . I have seen kids diagnosed with autism because: - speech problems - not eye contact - they are too smart at 1 years ( they are ahead for their age ) - their muscles are so stiff when they are babies . - they don’t take long naps as others .etc etc I have met parents who blamed vaccines cause autism in their kids .
God does have a purpose for Justin’s life. Keep believing that and he will do great things in this world. We manifest the things we say and believe so keep speaking positive things over your son.

I wish Justin and u guy's the best . My friend's son has autism and it's hard when you are out in public cause people can be cruel. There has been so many times she was in a store and people would say smart comments about her son. Target actually kicked her out cause this lady was so rude she got into it with her she tried to explain her son has autism and the lady just kept saying ignorant things about her son following her around until she flipped out .

Girl you brought me to tears. Thanks for sharing. I see a small delay in my great nephew and I want to help. How did you get him diagnosed so young?? I’ve been on at my doctor and health visitor for months and all I keep getting told is we wouldn’t diagnose a toddler this young, they don’t show all symptoms until five and that the lack of speech is from the lockdowns we have been having since covid but other kids the same age as him are talking to problem so I don’t believe that

first sign i see to my son is he cant connect with me it feels like im not his mom he just play all by himself and trow big tantrums if he is hungry or sleepy its really hard to calm him down he is 12 now and he is doing good he still delayed in speech but overall he is very loving and kind he is gentle with his baby brother and doesn’t hurt himself or others sometimes he is clumsy and lazy one supplement that we still use up-to now is omega 3 fish oil and some probiotics and we cut back from sweets

This was the best autism video I’ve ever seen. ❤️ I almost started crying with you. My son is 22 months & he’s still non verbal & he’s very draining & difficult to deal with. It’s been a struggle for me. He’s currently in speech therapy but I want him to get screened for Autism when he turns 2. He has a few symptoms of mild autism. I’m not in denial like most parents. I feel like I failed my son in a way or I did this to him. It’s not an easy pill to swallow.

I just signed the papers for my 19 month old to get evaluated. I work in the field, and knew what I was seeing, but kept stuffing it down...hoping it was something he would outgrow. He's been in early intervention services since he was only 8 months old. However, having suspicion of autism confirmed by the speech therapist put a dagger through my heart and I had a complete sob fest before sucking it up and moving along to request the evaluation. My oldest adopted son has autism and I know that I went through the stages of grief for him. The first being denial. It is like a death...of the hopes and dreams you carry for your child. However, I also know that intervention is key, so know that things can get better. Thanks for sharing your story! As it is now 5 years later, I'd love to hear how your son is doing now.

Autism isn't a bad thing. My husband has autism, he wasn't able to talk and read until he was 13 years old. And was also head bashing when he was a toddler. He didn't see any specialists or what, was homeschooled by his parents 'til highschool. Because of his mother's patience and faith, she never gave up on him even after doctors and people were discouraging her back then. Now his son is married to me for 3 years now and nobody even thought that he has autism. We have a 1 year old kid now and it seems like he has mild autism as he is really smart for his age and he's bashing his head too when he's really upset. But yeah, having children that have autism will never be easy but us parents are the ones that could really and primarily help them.

@Sarah Stevens His mom would read books to him and she would encourage him to tell the story back. And she also encouraged him alot to talk about how his day went, she thought him the differences of emotions so he can express his feelings. In socializing, he said he couldn't look at people straight or would be difficult to focus on looking at them when they're talking so she taught and trained him to look at the person's junction of the nose and eyebrows when they're talking to him. With reading, she used "Hooked on Phonics" and have him help teach his younger sibling how to read.

@@randomestperson121 thank you. My daughter has completely regressed since 18 months old and is showing lots of signs. She did have an ear infection, so could be related to that, but I'm starting to get concerned. Doctors have asked to wait another month to see if any progress.

It's hard watching your child regress and not make any progress, especially when you're seeing other kiddos your child's age doing all of these things that they just can't do yet. My son had a double ear infection about a month ago, however he had all of his symptoms before and I didn't really notice it affect his development or symptoms. They'll want your daughter to be free of fluid in the ears during the evaluation, as they generally do a hearing test and having an infection could throw off results.
@@randomestperson121 honestly, I've spend the whole day crying now knowing what to do and why it's happening. She was absolutely fine up until before the infection. If you don't mind me asking, please could you tell me what signs you noticed first?
Apparently they won't do a hearing test until she's 2, but I can't exactly wait that long to know, I feel so helpless

I just want to thank you for making this video. Because of this video and you talking about the bad bacteria in your sons gut, I have been able to target what I think is the root of my sons autistic symptoms. I’m treating his gut with plant based herbs and I am seeing sooo much progress.. just in a matter of days. I work away from home and my wife told me last night. I reacted so badly I sometimes feel I can't forgive myself for my initial reaction. I would like to acknowledge you for noticing and then acting on your concerns. I work with infants and toddlers and often times when I bring milestone or development concerns to parents they will not hear me. I do not know why. It's so frustrating when my main concern is finding resources for the child.

13 months is something I heard is early to make any diagnosis so I wonder what specifically made your pediatrician say he can be autistic?
@@mgarci99_13 months is not too early if all the symtoms are there. Usually that means a degree 3 of autism. The spectrum is broad and some babies shows signs as early as 6-8 months.

I suspected Autism in my son since 4ish months. Everybody and their mother thought I was crazy, I was dismissed and told it was just first time parent worries. Well my son is 20 months now and a new pediatrician finally saw what I saw. Along with (just recently) my husband’s mom who is an Occupational Therapist.
He just had an intake observation for a program.
Recently the insane tantrums are draining me along with never hearing him happy. I’m always waiting for the next whining or tantrum. I’ve been able to be the calm he needs with all I read to help since he was a baby, but it’s exhausting! I’m so glad you and him got help, I’m so happy to be getting help soon too! 🥰
I never once felt heartbroken over it, I just knew he needed help I can’t give him and I was desperate for someone to at least listen!

What signs did you notice at 4 months old? I’m suspecting mine as well. We have to work really hard for him to smile and also lack of eye contact.

If they’re not willing to at least hear you out and take notes to and refer you to a program for an evaluation, or early intervention, run! The first 3 years are crucial!

Autism from my perspective doesn’t have one shape or unique line . Kids with autism can have different behaviors. But the one thing I notice a lot was heating their head , tantrums and they will not Seattle with anything. Noise will bother them .
I have seen kids diagnosed with autism because:
- speech problems
- not eye contact
- they are too smart at 1 years ( they are ahead for their age )
- their muscles are so stiff when they are babies .
- they don’t take long naps as others .etc etc
I have met parents who blamed vaccines cause autism in their kids .
God does have a purpose for Justin’s life. Keep believing that and he will do great things in this world. We manifest the things we say and believe so keep speaking positive things over your son.

I wish Justin and u guy's the best . My friend's son has autism and it's hard when you are out in public cause people can be cruel. There has been so many times she was in a store and people would say smart comments about her son. Target actually kicked her out cause this lady was so rude she got into it with her she tried to explain her son has autism and the lady just kept saying ignorant things about her son following her around until she flipped out .

Girl you brought me to tears. Thanks for sharing. I see a small delay in my great nephew and I want to help. He is just 21 months old but doesn’t have a lot of words but he’s starting to mimic more and will sometimes respond to his name. Likes opening and closing doors, loves abstract objects like spoons or random bottles like lotions. I’m hoping he gets checked soon

How did you get him diagnosed so young?? I’ve been on at my doctor and health visitor for months and all I keep getting told is we wouldn’t diagnose a toddler this young, they don’t show all symptoms until five and that the lack of speech is from the lockdowns we have been having since covid but other kids the same age as him are talking to problem so I don’t believe that
your remark is identical to my situation---doctors say wait and blame pandemic for speech delay. How are you doing now and what is your plan? I am east coast. They even suggested an online speech test---i thought it was a ridiculous idea to diagnose on a computer!

first sign i see to my son is he cant connect with me it feels like im not his mom he just play all by himself and trow big tantrums if he is hungry or sleepy its really hard to calm him down he is 12 now and he is doing good he still delayed in speech but overall he is very loving and kind he is gentle with his baby brother and doesn’t hurt himself or others sometimes he is clumsy and lazy one supplement that we still use up-to now is omega 3 fish oil and some probiotics and we cut back from sweets

This was the best autism video I’ve ever seen. ❤️ I almost started crying with you. My son is 22 months & he’s still non verbal & he’s very draining & difficult to deal with. It’s been a struggle for me. He’s currently in speech therapy but I want him to get screened for Autism when he turns 2. He has a few symptoms of mild autism. I’m not in denial like most parents. I feel like I failed my son in a way or I did this to him. It’s not an easy pill to swallow.
It’s normal to feel guilt , but it’s not your fault.
