Mr. Holland thanks for such a beautiful contribution, this video is a gem, thanks to the United States for its valuable help and teaching for many years, I would like to be at that time
Thank you Mr. Howland for sharing such a great video. My father worked for Mene Grande from the mid 40's, until 1971. I spent my childhood in San Tome and left to come to the States in 1963. This video brought back so many wonderful memories of old friends and the life I lived there. I'm 78 now and live between Texas and Alabama. Many blessings to y'all!
Llegué a San Tomé en septiembre de 1974 como Ingeniero de campo y viví por 20 años en campo norte, mis cinco hijos nacieron ahi...gratos recuerdo, muchas gracias por este video
I grew up with the Bell at Fort Wolters AFB in Mineral Wells, Texas. The base had two Bubble Helicopters at the entrance of the gate. My sister got caught in the rabid river waters of the Brazos River & one of the bases helicopters like this tried to rescue her. Mom got to her first & brought her to shore. A lot of the pilots from the Vietnam War trained at the base with this helicopter & the Huey Cobra.
holy stuff! I was looking for something like this! thanks for sharing, been living on San Tomé since 2015 but I have never stopped on my search for any historical footage of this beautiful town! and I expect to see more in the future...

/I was born in Caripito Monagas State in January 1959 and 6 months after being born we arrived in San Tomé where I grew up. Buen dia. saludo...
It delightful to see San Tome portrayed through such an objective documentary film. Despite the film being captured in the 50’s, the quality is pretty good. I was born in San Tomé and, many of these structures seemed pretty new by the early 1970’s though I may say that a lot of these structures are still standing and in use. Talk about good quality constructions! Not the kind you see nowadays. I see the airport was still just a strip with a hangar, today it hasn’t grown much either. Great video!
Hello Mr Howland, Your videos bring back many wonderful memories. I lived with my parents in El Tigrito and graduated San Tome Staff School in 1953. I saved a little boys life in the club pool for which Mene Grande gave a watch when I graduated. Servico Thomas was my parents business. I used to ride my Whizzer motor bike all over ST. Could you please contact me. I also was given a ride in that same Bell Helicopter.
It was exhilarating to see this video about San Tome I lived with my parents and siblings in Campo Sur for 10 years my father was transferred from San Fernando Trinidad and Tobago, to work there I have good memories of my childhood in this oilfield . I am currently living in Leeds, United Kingdom. Buena suerte.
16mm film! I would imagine that was considered quite nice equipment in those days. I was born there in 58. We lived in Campo Mata. So nice to see this film. Wish there was a way to converse with Mr Howland.
thanks for sharing these videos of my country Venezuela a beautiful view of the past ... video will have some other old airport? if so please place it thanks.
Hello Mr Howland. Is there any chance to get any of these videos? And do you mind if I translate some of them in Spanish? I'm Venezuelan and I lived for 11 years in San Tome, from 83 to 94, so it'd be nice to have'm. Thanks
I was born there 60 years ago, the best time of my life while living there, more than 20 years.
My Dad worked there his name was Thomas Law.
My mom worked as a nurse at the hospital.
I worked for Mene Grande Caracas for 15 years
