Thank you for a great tutorial on how to use this! Sadly my husband was killed at work 2 yrs ago & this is the first time I am attempting to get the lawn watered. I'm having a very hard time finding all the sprinkler heads & one is popping up but not spraying. I may be hitting you up with more questions in the future but this video was clear, concise, understandable & moved at a good pace. Will be looking for more videos from you. Thx!
I’m so very sorry to hear about your husband. A trick for finding sprinkler is the turn the screw on top to the right until spray stops forcing more pressure to the ones not popping up. The one that pops up but nothing comes out is plugged. Wrap some duct tape around it, then with the sprinklers off remove the top and turn the water on to flush it out. Water off reinstall top and remove tape.
Omg thank you so much, Gary! I have spent the better part of the last 3 days searching & digging up my yard, found some heads that don't pop up at all (I completely dug out around them) & no traces of water coming out but water below when I unscrewed them.... Thank you so much for these extra tips, I will definitely be trying them out! 🤩
Excellent tutorial. We just bought a home that has its own system. Your video simplified the programming. I have a solenoid to replace and a couple of heads.
Thank you so much! I just purchased my home and this system was installed and I didn’t have the manual. This was so helpful and I’m saving this for next time! Ty!!
Gary, thank you for sharing this information. I think you covered it, but I'm not sure... I want to run a regular program with each station running daily, but in addition to that, I need station 6 to run additional times because we just put some new sod down. Can you help me with that?
Move station 6 in B program and set its additional start times that you want, days and how long to run. Just leave station 6 in A as well so that will count as one of the times it will run. Then put additional start times as I stated in in B for6 only none of the others. Make sure to Subscribe to our Channel if we helped you out.

Thank you! This was a very helpful video. I do have a question, is there an easy way to set it to run twice a week during hot months (which I have set now) but only run once during cooler months? I thought maybe the a, b, c setting could make that work but its sounding like a, b and c will run everyweek. Is that right or can you just have a run or just b run?
To remove the second start time during cooler months. Move selector switch bottom center to middle, turn dial to start time #2, use the upper right buttons to scroll the time to midnight, tap again and it should say “off”. Return the selector to run position, finally return dial to Run. You could also put the cooler weather parameters into B program and just don’t set a start time. When ready to use is, set a B program start time and remove the A program (warmer weather) start time. Now the timer will only run B Program. Reverse that process when you’re ready to switch back to A only. Hope that helped, don’t forget to Subscribe to our Channel it helps us too.
I adjusted the water start times and length of time for each zone. In the display the number 12 is present in the top left. What does this mean? Also, can you reset the device to original factory settings and start all over? Thanks
Hi Dan, to reset to factory.. Put bottom switch to middle position Next move program (top left) to “B” Next carefully unplug the ribbon cable Next remove the battery Now hold down the manual button while plugging the ribbon cable back in Next let go of the manual button The timer should now show 12:00 Replace the battery Reprogram to desired dates and times Hope that help be sure to Subscribe to our Channel it helps us too.👊

Thanks so much for this video man I have sprinklers in all parts of my house but I want the front ones turned off completely since we have turf/artificial grass up front 😊 my question is tho that mine would say pm not am like I'd like for the start times
Just about everyone I know has recorded vertically the phone companies really need to set a reminder for people before they start recording lol. It's so weird to use your phone vertically and then when you take a picture or record a video to need to go horizontal; it's a pretty easy slip up lol. Great video as usual though!

Let me explain A, B, C programs If you want 1,2,3 in A they’re lawns. Set days start times and run times. Next move to B if you put 4,5,&6 in their and say water at 7 pm it will ( Start @7 and run them All one at a time) The program allow different zones to water different days and times.....However you can’t say B-4 start at 7 pm then 5-B @8 it will automatically run when B-4 finishes the B-5 after that. That will only work if you don’t give B and C start times. When spring ends delete A start time and add start to B. When summer ends delete B start and set a start for C leaving A, B starts off.
@@garyssprinklerrepair that’s an interesting work around. Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to explain/teach. Unrelated, but I just found out that the guy who owned the house before me had extended the driveway to some lawn areas (which was a great idea) but it looks like he either just buried the old sprinkler heads or whatever he did to cap it off started because water is coming out the seams between the adjoining pieces of concrete when I run #1 and 2. I had thought about going to a drought resistant yard, so this might push me there sooner since #1 covers most of the front lawn. Luckily, #2 is the bigger leak, but that loop doesn’t water much now.
Gary, if I turn the switch to the off position, the sprinkler system will be off totally, right? Living in Arizona, it would be nice to be able to just turn it off and on myself. Thanks so much for the help! Your video was really helpful.
Pam hi yes you’re correct, turning it to off keeps it off. Just put back into run, manual mode and hit semi-auto to run a complete cycle when ready. Hope you get a chance to Subscribe to our Channel it’s a free way to bookmark the channel.✌️
Hello I have this system inside the house I purchased I was pressing buttons to figure out if this works. I turned on the sprinkler heads using this but now they never turn off. Would you be able to assist me? I turned the bottom middle switch to off but that seems to not work.
Hi Gary, I have a newer 600-5 controller. My problem is that station B is not being recognized to turn on when in a daily watering schedule. It does recognize the B station when using the Semi-Auto button. Stations A and C have no issues with programming. What can I do to rectify station B?
Double check that you have a correct start time for B program. (Am/pm) let’s say B program has just station 4 in it. Set days you want on 1st, then water time. If that doesn’t work possibly a wiring issue for zone #4, bad solenoid, or bad valve. Hope that helped, be sure to subscribe to our channel it helps us out. Good luck with the repair.
Good question and the answer is yes, it will automatically move to B and C once A is done. Providing you set them for what times you want to start, how long to run and which days to water for each of the other programs. Don’t forget to Subscribe to our Channel for more awesome info.✌️
After 40 years with this controller, I am still confused about the A,B,C programs. I was hoping that A program could be to run all my 7 stations at a Springtime water time say of 10 minutes each. Then hot summer hits and I can switch to B program where I have set the 7 stations up for 20 minutes each. But it doesn't seem to do that. It defaults to the A program? Am I hoping for too much and the B program is not for a completely different program?
Correct it will run A program 1st, next give no start time to B program, just program it for the warmer weather just no start time. Once the weather heats up remove the start time only from A program and put a start time for B Problem solved, don’t forget to Subscribe for more great tips.👍

Very helpful tutorial. I hope you can help me. The guy who set up our sprinkler system didn't show us how it works. I'm not sure which program is running what (plants, flowers, trees?)? I do know there is a drip line. How do I find out what is programmed to what? I hope I'm making sense. Any help?
Use the switch on the upper left....start with A Program then move center switch (off, middle position to check stuff or change them) go to start times bottom left and see how often things start( 1,2,3) then go to days see how often they run, next go to run times these are the different areas (plants etc) repeat for B and C program (C rarely used) Now if you’re not sure who’s, who then move dial to zone 1, make sure switch at bottom is in manual-run, use plus button to give it a few min(maybe 2) and hit the manual button! Repeat for each area label them 1-9 and you’re ready to go
Yes, if you program things in A it will find them and water, when finished it will look in the B program if it finds something it will water it. Next it will look in C program etc..hitting manual then enter with nothing in A program will force it to look in B and C.
No, only in Auto/ Run mode. If you want to run a program on manual you would need to set it up in advance and then use the Program selector to chose which program you want to run manually.
@@gregoryagogo please read my previous comment. The timer will only run multiple programs in Auto mode In manual mode it will only run a specific program that you choose.
I've got this controller and have 3 Stations set up. All of a sudden station 3 won't run. The other 2 run fine. The display and everything seems fine. I've tried it through Semi-Auto and Manual What would should I look for to see what might be wrong? Thanks!
Double check you’ve programmed a run time for zone 3 in the correct program. If that doesn’t work it’s either a wire issue or solenoid issue. Let me know if you need more help, don’t forget to Subscribe and tap notifications so you’ll know I answered you.
@@bbqjones cool, double check all the wire nuts are tight. Irritrol valves had an issue a few years ago with the wires shorting at the top of the solenoids. (Lawn Genie) homeowner version made by the same Co.
With the Dial straight up facing and the lower switch set to run it will run the program assigned. If the dial is turned to #1 with the switch to run, you would need to add time using the plus button and then hit the manual button you on the bottom right now return the dial to the up position. It will only run that station or zone and go back to normal operation.
No, you can run each station for 1 minute manually one at a time or manually run the entire program with semi- auto. The only way to do what your asking would be to change all the zone run times to 1 minute and then hit semi- auto. Remembering to then go back and change all the run times back to their National watering times when your done. Hope that helped answer your question. Don’t forget to Subscribe to our Channel for future tips.
Check the power, the timer is plugged into 1st. If that’s fine, open the inside panel and look to see if the fuse on the circuit board is blown, if it is be sure to only replace it with the exact same voltage on the fuse. (To prevent a possible fire hazard) Hope that helps, be sure to Subscribe for more great content on our Channel.✌️
Hi, quick question. We recently bought a house that has an RD-900 and while the system works, it seems to lose power sometimes. When I check it, the time is flashing. It’s plugged into an outlet inside our garage, does not seem to be connected to a light switch. Any idea if it’s something wrong with the controller?
I apologize if I missed it. But what is the "skip days" function used for and how is it used? When I turn the dial to "Today" it says something like "skip days is on." Thank you.
Turn the dial to skip days at the bottom left position. Move the middle switch at the bottom center to the middle position, now you can change the skip days to off using the plus/ minus button. Now you can chose mon on or mon off etc using the plus minus buttons.hope that helps Skip days is to like water every 2nd day or every third day etc
Are you making sure the bottom middle switch is in the middle position between off and run before you change the day? Hope that fixes your issue, be sure to Subscribe to our Channel if it works, it helps us continue to grow.
That’s indicative of a short, ex: fus 2 would be saying there is a short on zone #2. If you’re lucky it’s just a bad solenoid. Hope that helps, be sure to Subscribe to our Channel for more awesome content and new videos.👍
The timer is telling you to make sure the wiring is connected correctly for an installed rain sensor. If you have no rain sensor installed, open the panel and locate the sensor switch (top right) and move selector to bypass. Hope that helped you out. I turned my controller to OFF at the very bottom because it has been rainy as of late. However my sprinkler system still runs through all zones as if it was set to RUN. Any ideas?
Bliss13 S , if you have a ohm meter you could check the timer when it’s doing that to see if there’s voltage on the common and the station screw (ex, zone #1) to see if the timers doing it.
William Davidson, check the outlet it’s plugged into with a light, a drill to ensure there is power. If there is go to days of the week make sure days are set for on or off depending on your needs. Then Check skip days (bottom left) is set to off). Make sure the water source outside is turned on, to verify you can manually turn the water on at the valve itself. Keep me posted. I had some one fix two leaks in my irrigation system and now i can not get water out. I am 89 years old and need a manual or some help;; No water for 7 days and in Arizona its very hot. can you send me a manual or some where to go for help I can not be out for more than 5 minutes an i get dizzy,,, Old army days....Please help
Jim Granack, I was just saying if they if they replaced a leaky valve they must have shut the water off to do that. First thing 1st make sure the bottom middle switch on your timer is moved to the right “Run” position and the dial in the middle is placed to “current time” position.
Hi Gary, I must be doing something wrong here! Your video was awesome to say the least when I programmed it initially. Now I’m trying to isolate each sprinkler because I want to shut off a certain sprinkler system as it’s not being used anymore and I’m unable to isolate which one it is. Would it be possible for you to call me and walk me through it? I’m happy to pay for your services if need be. Just very frustrated and I’m doing everything (obviously I’m not haha) your video says in the manual mode, but still can’t get the one I want off to even come on? Does that make sense? I’m a physician and not to happy sharing my number on an open form like this. I’ll try and look you up online and call you?
Pull the battery out of the timer if the display goes away you have no power to the timer. The battery will show a display as though the station is on but hasn’t enough amps to run a zone.
Not sure if this is a new timer for you but it’s possible the days of the week are not turned on. Do any of the zones work? You also might have a wiring issue..check out my video on how to rewire a set of valves.
Just a quick refresher, turn the dial to the desired station, use the + button top right to give a a few min. Run time, make sure bottom center switch is in run/ manual position, hit bottom right manual button. Now it’s on, use off switch to stop and replace to run to repeat for next zones.
When the dial is moved to skip days with the on/ off switch in the middle position you can chose skip days 1-31 (be sure to have odd/even off and chose which program A,B,or C) Once you have your interval set turn the dial to “today” and pick when you wish to start that interval to run. 1- for 3 days from now, 2-to begin the interval watering process 2 days from now, 3-for tomorrow, 4-today. Return dial to current time and selector switch to run. Need more info Google (irritrol raindial pdf) Hope that helps, take a minute to check out our Channels and Subscribe for more great info.

Now if you’re not sure who’s, who then move dial to zone 1, make sure switch at bottom is in manual-run, use plus button to give it a few min(maybe 2) and hit the manual button! Repeat for each area label them 1-9 and you’re ready to go

What I'm totally confused about is the A, B, C switch. If in the A position, does it cycle through on A, then to B, and C?
Yes, if you program things in A it will find them and water, when finished it will look in the B program if it finds something it will water it. Next it will look in C program etc..hitting manual then enter with nothing in A program will force it to look in B and C.
@@garyssprinklerrepair does it do this in "Manual" too?
No, only in Auto/ Run mode. If you want to run a program on manual you would need to set it up in advance and then use the Program selector to chose which program you want to run manually.
When I start this mode, it doesn't seem to go from A to B... only when the timer runs on the timer.
@@gregoryagogo please read my previous comment. The timer will only run multiple programs in Auto mode
In manual mode it will only run a specific program that you choose.
Thank you so much, this helped me a lot!!

@garyssprinklerrepair I think it might have been a solenoid issue. I messed with the wires a bit and it started working. Thank you!
@@bbqjones cool, double check all the wire nuts are tight. Irritrol valves had an issue a few years ago with the wires shorting at the top of the solenoids. (Lawn Genie) homeowner version made by the same Co.

what does it mean when im on the run station 1 and irs on run but says off? , does it still run on the days it’s scheduled or is the clock off?
With the Dial straight up facing and the lower switch set to run it will run the program assigned.
If the dial is turned to #1 with the switch to run, you would need to add time using the plus button and then hit the manual button you on the bottom right now return the dial to the up position. It will only run that station or zone and go back to normal operation.
Hope you remembered to Subscribe to our Channel.
Is there away to turn it on just for a minute on manually
No, you can run each station for 1 minute manually one at a time or manually run the entire program with semi- auto.
The only way to do what your asking would be to change all the zone run times to 1 minute and then hit semi- auto.
Remembering to then go back and change all the run times back to their National watering times when your done. Hope that helped answer your question. Don’t forget to Subscribe to our Channel for future tips.
Where was this video filmed? It looks like it’s literally in my yard. I have the same fence and same sprinkler system😂

How do I reset the clock? A recent storm knocked out electricity. Nothing is showing on clock face
Check the power, the timer is plugged into 1st. If that’s fine, open the inside panel and look to see if the fuse on the circuit board is blown, if it is be sure to only replace it with the exact same voltage on the fuse. (To prevent a possible fire hazard)

Open the face panel by swinging it open and install a new 9v battery there. Make sure it’s alkaline not rechargeable. Problem solved.
Now you can chose mon on or mon off etc using the plus minus buttons.hope that helps
Skip days is to like water every 2nd day or every third day etc

I set current day and it keeps switching to the wrong current day on its own, please advise. I am House sitting and need to fix this. Thank you.
Are you making sure the bottom middle switch is in the middle position between off and run before you change the day?

What is FUS that shows on my timer mean?
That’s indicative of a short, ex: fus 2 would be saying there is a short on zone #2.
If you’re lucky it’s just a bad solenoid. Hope that helps, be sure to Subscribe to our Channel for more awesome content and new videos.👍
Hey Gary, I did all the step than you mention , but is not start automatic at 6:00 am , any other solution ?
Check your water days
@@garyssprinklerrepair I did sir , monday off tuesday on .... and it's doesn't work.
Are you able to run any zone manually with the timer?
My newest video explains how to do that.
@@garyssprinklerrepair yes sir I can do that
Does it work when you run it manually or semi auto with the timer?

What does “Sen” mean????
The timer is telling you to make sure the wiring is connected correctly for an installed rain sensor. If you have no rain sensor installed, open the panel and locate the sensor switch (top right) and move selector to bypass. Hope that helped you out. When I go to the days it doesn't say on or off..it says nothing...what am I doing wrong?
Make sure “skip days” is off

I turned my controller to OFF at the very bottom because it has been rainy as of late. However my sprinkler system still runs through all zones as if it was set to RUN. Any ideas?
Bliss13 S , if you have a ohm meter you could check the timer when it’s doing that to see if there’s voltage on the common and the station screw (ex, zone #1) to see if the timers doing it.
Bliss13 S, only other thing timer wise is the switch is defective.
Question; I have my timer is set to come on at specific days/times. It's stopped coming on as scheduled. Any suggestions for a fix? Thank you.

Make sure they turned the main irrigation water back on after their repair
@@garyssprinklerrepair Where is the main irrigation water? Thanks so much
Jim Granack, I was just saying if they if they replaced a leaky valve they must have shut the water off to do that.
First thing 1st make sure the bottom middle switch on your timer is moved to the right “Run” position and the dial in the middle is placed to “current time” position.
Hi Gary,
I must be doing something wrong here!

My drip system just wont turn on even though it’s set, help! Please
Pull the battery out of the timer if the display goes away you have no power to the timer. The battery will show a display as though the station is on but hasn’t enough amps to run a zone.
It stayed on after removing battery, what does this mean?
Not sure if this is a new timer for you but it’s possible the days of the week are not turned on. Do any of the zones work?
You also might have a wiring issue..check out my video on how to rewire a set of valves.
Gracias , buen video ..

Do you have a rain sensor installed?
We like it.
Thank you for the encouragement!

Cancel my request it worked! You’re the bedt
Just a quick refresher, turn the dial to the desired station, use the + button top right to give a a few min. Run time, make sure bottom center switch is in run/ manual position, hit bottom right manual button. Now it’s on, use off switch to stop and replace to run to repeat for next zones.
Why does every video on this topic NOT instruct on programming "skip days".
Good point! What would you like to know?
Go over skip days,
When the dial is moved to skip days with the on/ off switch in the middle position you can chose skip days 1-31 (be sure to have odd/even off and chose which program A,B,or C)
Once you have your interval set turn the dial to “today” and pick when you wish to start that interval to run. 1- for 3 days from now, 2-to begin the interval watering process 2 days from now, 3-for tomorrow, 4-today. Return dial to current time and selector switch to run. Need more info Google (irritrol raindial pdf)
