    I've never in my life had any part of a pecan pie that was the least bit salty, so I don't know what in the world Calli's talking about as to the "saltiness" of the pecan pie. I love pecan pie, but banana pudding just takes the cake. The creaminess of the pudding, the softness of the bananas, and the soft-crunchiness of the 'nilla wafers just mixes together perfectly, and delivers a flavorful, yet unforgettable experience.

    Unfair battle. That’s like comparing Thanksgiving Dinner (pecan pie) with a weekday night supper (banana pudding).
    While you love both, you know you just couldn’t eat pecan pie that often. But I would wager that most, that like both, would love to have banana pudding at least a few times a week.

      To me it depends on what you're making and what time of year. Pecan pie for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Banana pudding in the summer for a cookout or bbq. Other times of the year you have cobbler.

    The first time I ever held a knife, I was under ten and my grandma great told me it was fine and to cut the bananas for the pudding. I will have that memory forever. My grandpa great called my grandma Lieutenant and he was called Captain, they were both born and raised in Louisiana and my grandpa was known for driving from California to Louisiana in less than a day by truck and loving pecan pies. So, both foods are very special to me. I love them and miss them. Thanks for the cuteness!

      One of my supervisors was allergic to blueberries. Just blueberries. I had never heard of that before he told us he couldn't partake of the blueberries or blueberry pies some of us brought in. Luckily for us it wasn't like most significant peanut allergies which can be triggered by the tiniest amount of peanut dust. He had to actually eat some blueberries or get several blueberries worth on his skin. So we put hand wipes out and made sure not to leave any blueberry mush on the exposed surfaces.

    I was so proud when he held up the banana pudding and it wasn't neon yellow. You need a layer of the vanilla wafer cookies, then banana, and then regular pudding. Layer that three times, then do a pretty design on top with the wafers, chill, and get some before it's gone. It "evaporates" in about fifteen minutes.

    Every year at Thanksgiving and Christmas my mother-in-law makes a dessert just for me. She makes something different each time every year and gets kinda exotic at times. The result is usually me trying it and taking rest home and never eating it. My wife tells me I better act like it's good, and I'm sure it is for someone who likes that sort of thing, but I tell her every year to ask her mother if she will just make a banana pudding or pecan pie. Those 2 tried and true desserts can't be beat.

      If I had to choose between the 2, which I hope I never have to, then I would say puhcahn pie wins. Simply for the fact that it can be served hot or cold. I've tried banana pudding warm before, and have to say that it wasn't enjoyable. PP straight out of the fridge or "Heated and Treated" at Waffle House is awesome always.

    My grandparents have pecan trees, and they shell the pecans by hand. They sell them too, they're hands become cracked, and covered in blisters. They usually make about $50+ every year. Calli you can by some if you want to!

    2:50 Exactly! You can have pudding for a snack or dessert any day. But pecan pie is for special occasions because it's so exceptional.

      What exactly is chess pie? 🤔

    • @supergeek1418
      @supergeek1418 4 года назад +3

      @@lilannegirl03
      It's a pie made from a sweetened buttermilk custard, typically seasoned with nutmeg, vanilla, and sometimes a bit of allspice.
      It gets its name from a New York Yankee journalist who toured the south in the late 1800s, writing about the cuisine. When he asked for the recipe and name of the pie he had been served, the woman gave him the recipe, and said "It's jus' pie!" He misunderstood her southern accent and thought she'd said "Chess Pie", and that's what he published. The name stuck.
      In any case, it's delicious, and a southern standard.

    I grew up on a farm in Southern Indiana near the Ohio River. I could see Kentucky from the grain silo. Apparently I have more in common with the South than the Mid West. Sweat Tea is a sacrament, Chocolate Gravy for breakfeast on a special occation, banana puddin anytime, everything fried, a dab of butter goes in nearly every recipe, Ma'am or Sir was drilled into me growing up, Church every Sunday, and hearing "Bless your heart" wasn't necessarly a good thing. I was raised by my grandparents sooo..old fashioned.
