Taken
Where is Taxi franchisee?
It's shit....
bonjour
you make me a list of films set in french dont include a french film, COME ON MAN
It's too easy man !
+Robert Horker No, they needed to be Hollywood movies.
There's actually another list of of the best French films check it out
They said at the beginning they were looking at Hollywood movies set in France. Unless I'm sorely mistaken, not every French film is a Hollywood production.
and is that supposed to be an excuse to let out all of the french cinema? there should have been at least one french film on this list, since, you know, they have a fucking awesome cinema industry.
So this is really "Top Ten English Language Movies That Take Place in France"
ye
Did you expect anything more sophisticated from WM?
You didn't really listen to the beginning. Also, they already have a list of the best French Films.
That's what the title says.
It just says "Set in France"
How is "An American in Paris"(1951) not on the list? Winner of numerous Academy Awards including Best Picture, and one of the greatest Hollywood musicals of all time.
It made me happy that they acknowledged Hunchback and Beauty and the Beast. My two favorite animated Disney films
Vive la France, the heart of Europe!
No Germany
Wrong. France is weak
+Diapason Dlvg nope
Tommyash Ashleytom isis could conquer France if they had no help from allied countries. France is a weak shithole
@@zynnertime1 What a brilliant military analysis you dog.
Another tragic incident in France. Prayers for Nice. Stay strong.
#PrayforNice
Pray for France's weak stupid leaders . They need help and need to be overthrown , they're getting their people killed. .
I think that's the point of this video
YES MIDNIGHT IN PARIS IS MY ACTUAL FAVORITE MOVIE I was so upset if it wouldn't be on here. thank you watch mojo.
I'm glad that The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Beauty and the Beast made it to this list.
Where's Rugrats in Paris??
Not popular enough to be featured.
Not that good
As far as missed movies are concerned, I loved the 90s version of Dangerous Liasons with Glenn Close, John Malkovich, Uma Thurman, Michel Pfeiffer, etc. That was epic.
yes! They have the two best Disney movies set in France on this list I'm so happy.
Saving Private Ryan shouldve been at least 5
Yeah!
How dare you not have Rugrats in Paris: The Movie!
I love "Les Mis"!
Here are other honorable mentions: "Funny Face" with Audrey Hepburn, "Madeline", "The Longest Day", Best PIcture winner "An American in Paris", "The Lion in Winter", "Joan of Arc" with Ingrid Bergman, "The Aristocats", "Marie Antoinette", "The Count of Monte Cristo".
And here was I expecting actual French movies......
Mr. Bean's Holiday
?
That one's UK, I'm talking about 100% French movies
Can you do a list of the top 10 disaster movies (as in natural disasters such as storms, hurricanes, earthquakes etc.)?
Why would you do a Hollywood only list?
Because they are americans ;)
+Tobias Schäffler *Canadian Bruh
+Ruairi Moore Canada is in america ;)
America is North and South. All of the west.
+Tobias Schäffler nope look at a fucking map kid
Ummm... Why is Inglorious Basterds only an honourable mention? *SIGH*
We're here to do one thing and one thing only, killing Nazi's!
top 10 movies set on earth
I'm glad the Musketeers got a mention. Loved those as a kid ^.^
Dude, where is intouchables
"Only hollywood movies"
+Demalleman Van der laan they said it in The description ( under The title)
+Demalleman Van der laan What the fuck do you mean?
+Olive Cinephile o lol
One of the best movie in this decade so far imo.
Fun fact: Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart will star in Hollywoods remake of Untouchable.
Les Misérables easily should've been #1. But I could be biased but glad you included both of Hugo's greatest works
Okay I've never seen 'Midnight in Paris', but Les Mis is one of the best books and movies I've ever seen.... In my opinion should have been #1.
Damn i thought these would all be french movies. I thought that would be an interesting list. I always try to give watchmojo the benefit of the doubt but wtf is the point of this list?
"Movies set in France" Yeah, why not ?
"french movies excluded" You're kidding me, right ?
I love how she pronounces some of the titles
Yay hunchback of notre dame!!! Love! Way too underrated!
Thanks for including animated movies
Pour nos amis américains :
Paris =/= la France
Venez visiter Montpellier. On a pas la tour Eiffel mais on a Rémi Gaillard !
"The Three Musketeers" has been shot on film more than any other classic literature storyline
The model was also a really good English movie with a France setting
Premier means "first" in French
No "un" means one, "first" means premier
dumbass
actually, un means one in french, the word for first is premier
Jack 26001 Yeah that's what i said
Just fixed it.
Why must my life be filled with paris? DAMN YOU MIRACULOUS LADYBUG?!?!
I like SAVING PRIVATE RYAN and love RATATOUILLE!
i love like, all of these 😂💕
G.I. Joe: the Rise of Cobra was set in France. That scene where the Joes chasing the Hummer.
The Count of Monte Cristo should have been on this list.
First of all, "Hugo" is not set in the 1930s, but in the 1900s. And where are classic Hollywood movies like "Gigi", "An American in Paris", "Irma La Douce", the original "Moulin Rouge", "Lust for Life" etc...
Count of Monte Cristo! You're always forgetting Count of Monte Cristo! Come on, guys.
Most of the live feature movies in that list were not even shot in France ! Yet, strangely enough, most of Disney's THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE-DAME was .
Jean Renoir did several films in Hollywood (in exile from Nazi Europe) in World War 2. The best one, dissecting Vichy France, is "This Land Is Mine", with Charles Laughton, George Sanders, Maureen O'Hara, and Walter Slezak.
Paths of Glory should deserve an honourable mention in this
Nice List.
You should do a top 10 worlds best magic tricks?!!!!!
The Hollywood project, set in France, that you forgot was Rugrats in Paris.
I loved Le Divorce, Paris J'taime, A Good Year and French Kiss too!
Anyone else find it irritating when she puts on that accent?
Yes, it's very irritating. It's not just you.
I find her irritating period.
She doesn't even get it right.
Every time....
it's a canadian accent, not a french one
Should the Bourne Identity be number 1 or 2?
You forgot The Longest Day. Sure it's a star studded 3 hour war film but it was set in France seeing how it chronicles the Normandie invasion from not only the perspective of the Allied army, but also from the German forces as well.
Normandie is French for Normandy
+OC Beezilla
Why thank you grammar grandpa
To our americans friends :
Paris =/= France
Let's visit Montpellier. We have not the Eiffel Tower but we have Rémi Gaillard !
Agreed. If it wasn't for having French class for 3 years in high school, I would've thought the same thing. Now, I love more than just Paris. I really love the Chateaux of the Loire Valley. They're so beautiful. Plus, the literature as well. We read Voltaire's "Candide" and I love it to this day.
darthstarkiller1912 OH ! A cultivate american ! I'm impressed ! It's so unusual in our days.
Gabriel Cobblepot Merci beaucoup, mon ami.
Honorable mentions include Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Aristocats.
top 10 films set in Italytop 10 films set in Belgiumtop 10 films set in the U.S.Atop 10 films set in Chinatop 10 films set in Spaintop 10 films set in GermanyI wonder how much more of these watchmojo is gonna do in the future
Cyrano de Bergerac (1950), The Pink Panther, Ronin... To name a few.
The John Frankenhiemer / Burt Lancaster 1964 Production of "The Train" gets my vote and did not even make your Honourable Mention list. It should also top the best railway themed list.
midnight in paris
a movie you can watch over and over and never feel bored.
im happy is number one
i think phantom of the opera should be in the top ten and not and honorable mention
Of all these movies, only one is not set in Paris. Come on, people. There's more about France beyond Paris.
+Robert Horker Yeah, Paris and only Paris! It's stupid.
+Robert Horker there Canadian which speaks English and FRENCH So they know France idiot
OC Beezilla Because they speak French they known France? Lol, so if you're from America you know the whole of England?
_"There's more about France beyond Paris"_
Not in Hollywood films which is what this list is about. I can only think of "To Catch a Thief" or "The French Connection" that are set in France but not in Paris.
Moulin Rouge is my favorite movie of all time
What, no mention of An American in Paris starring Gene Kelly or Gigi starring Leslie Caron? Were your picks made from only the late 20th century?
What ratatouille is almost 10 years old wow time flies.
you forgot the "Count of Montacristo"
Too bad WM didn't discuss the plot of Les Miserables this time, they probably would've been dumb enough to say it's during the French Revolution again.
Sorry, but you guys missed the mark here. The version of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" you selected was... Disney's?! Try again, this time the black-and-white version with Charles Laughton's amazing performance. You picked the musical "Phantom of the Opera"? Nope... try Lon Chaney's silent classic. And if you missed out on "Is Paris Burning?", which you did, the list is woefully incomplete. This is the first WatchMojo list I've ever had serious disagreement with, though... usually you do pretty well.
Well you forgot "Funny Face" with Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn
what about the count of monte cristo or chocolat!?
Is "Lust for Life" ineligible due to the part of Van Gogh's life in Holland and Belgium? If not, I think it belongs.
All of these movies were made in the last twenty years. You left out Charade, GiGi, and the other Moulin Rouge with Jose' Ferrer.
Top 10 movies set inside my shoe.
Is it me or was this video uploaded on the same day of the terror attacks?
Was thinking the same thing.
Because the attack happened the day of our national fest. The Bastille Day.
Vsauce should calculate how long until WatchMojo have run out of lists to do.
i honestly wanted a movie about the fench revolution that is it thanks
I wish they had an American in Paris at least as an honorable mention. But at least others I know of made the list.
making French related videos because there is a lot of attention around France today, fishing aye
Inglorious bastards definitely shouldve been more than an honorable mention
Top 10 Movies Filmed in Ohio
Alabama
Carol, The Shawshank Redemption, Rain Main, Heathers, The Avengers, Air Force One, Captain America: Winter Soldier, A Christmas Story, Eight Men Out, and The Soloist.
Carol was New York
room
You should have named this top "Top 10 Movies Set in PARIS". Seriously. (from a french person)
"The Les Mis movie did the stage adaptation justice" Nice lie there.
It is a crime not to have "the intouchables" on this list. The best movie I have ever seen.
+Robert Horker It is "Intouchables".
There are far batter movies that deserve the place on the list instead of the intouchables
+Kosta Jovanovic Not really. Intouchables is seem as the best foreign movie ever and is rated 37 in IMDb's "best movies of all time".
+Mr. Mister no,it is not considered one of the best foreign movies and imdb is not a reliable source, since it is full of bias, fanboys and trolls,go look at any official list and you will not see that melodramatic movie there
+Kosta Jovanovic Only 9 weeks after it's release, it was the second most succesful french movie ever, Time said that it was the best french movie ever. The only foreign films that I think are close to it is "Life is beautiful" and "pan's lanyrinth". It is all opinions but it "the intouchables" is succesful for a reason.
No mention of Vincente Minnelli's classic AN AMERICAN IN PARIS...outrageous.
It's such a good one, too!
You should make clear at the start that you not only ruled out actual French films for this, but any film made before 1970. What about Gene Kelly's An American In Paris? And how about Day of the Jackal, The Lion in Winter, Gigi, The Man in the Iron Mask, The Pink Panther (Peter Sellers, not the Steve Martin fiasco), Ronin, War Horse... And you pick Ratatouille and that Disney misfire Hunchback of Notre Dame? Can't believe that's the best you could come up with.
I'll add Paths of Glory and French Kiss to your list
NICE! :( R.I.P
France is just a tiny bit bigger than Paris. What about Ronin with De Niro and Reno, set in the south of France.
The fact you released this video about France on July 14th isn't a coincidence, is it?
There's a special place in my movie lexicon for An American Werewolf in Paris.
Seriously? No Charade? No An Affair to Remember? No Le Mans?
You forgot 'Don't Lose Your Head'! Oh, WatchMojo, how could you?
Hunchback of ND better be here
I don't really see the point to make a video about films set in France and still not include French productions... It just feels like French cinematography was just unfit to reproduce its mother country or that French movies were globally bad anyway, so "why the hell should we even talk about it ? ". I do understand the fact that if all the French movies were considered, the top would be exclusively made of French cinema, but some variety ( a mix between French, Anglo Saxon - and other- cinema wouldn't have killed anyone and would have encouraged people to watch films where the French people aren't ruled by stupid clichés). It is just my opinion of course.
+Robert Horker I get your point but in France, Itlay, Germany (well, the European countries where we don't speak English) know their own movies but the English speaking ones too. I think the English speaking people could be more openminded on that point :)
Sorry for my bad English
+Robert Horker I wasn't talking about you, but about the channel :)
_"I don't really see the point to make a video about films set in France and still not include French productions"_
Are you guys that dumb? It's the exact opposite, if it included French films (the vast majority are bound to be set in France), it would defeat the whole point of the video don't you think?
Jesus!
uploaded 3 minutes ago and I already hate it
The first taken is number one
What about Count of Monte Cristo?
The top of my list is Steve McQueen's 1970 movie Le Mans.
Although I agree with most of the movies on this list, where the hell was French Kiss?
beauty and the beast should've been number 1, one of the greatest films ever made
It's technically a guilty pleasure for me but the transporter franchise
Do a top ten movie series
Hitchcock's To Catch A Thief.
It's not a very good film.
