Not sure if they’re available in the States but Group N Mk2 Escort engine mounts come in different heights and are extremely tough.

Can you weld a nut to that subframe then no wrench needed, maybe?

Well that's what we did, except you need 2 nuts to tighten against the welded one that way the ball bearing joint stays in one place with out movement. The idea behind that, is that if I ever need to replace the joint, I can easily do so.
