- Flying the P-47D-22 on Combat Box. The new P-47 is great which is mainly due to the new flight model for both P-47s. The Razorback was faster than the later "bubble" versions since that canopy design is actually more draggy at for the advantage of a better all around visibilty.

Really like this vid, especially with the accompanying analysis vid in TACVIEW. Well done on the 2v7! I also like the performance of the last lone G-14 pilot. You were lucky to check your six at just the right moment, and if the two of you had not been so well coordinated he would likely still have gotten one or both of you - a skilled adversary. He just got too aggressive and failed to extend-climb and disengage when you began fighting with such superb mutual support. I am surprised at the number of 'touches' you got with your .50 cal before he went in. With German fighters, the mere touch of cannon - 20 or 30 - is usually enough to disable, but he seemed perfectly capable of fighting on after two or three touches. I thought that the concentrated firepower of 8 guns more greatly enhanced the P-47's lethality. Again, great vids!

400 mph isnt that much in the jug. The aircraft goes 350mph in a straight line on the deck.

That early skirmish towards the beginning was great! Here's hoping the devs improve the sound of the thunderbolt to go along with the fm update and razorback addition...they just have to give the R-2800 more of the muscle car rumble and roar like it did in real life, and once they do that the P-47 will be perfect!

He may have pissed you off Sheriff, but you have to admit that that 109 in the end did some pretty amazing flying against three P-47's
he was only allowed his flying because the damage of ur armament is so limited by the damage model of the game. His flying was not even good, hiting him was no problem.
He had all the advantage at the beginning and could have kept the fight in the vertical, but blew it all away. We should have had no chance hitting him in the fight, that would have been good flying. But he was fortunate enough to survive multiple good bursts of 8x 50cals.
Oh my sheriff talking VR? I'd be keen to see that. Reverb G2 looks good.
You can use smoothed output via several apps.
I used the original Reverb Pro(the second version) and it was like flying with a scuba mask on. I didn't like it.

Im loving the new FM and 150 octane for the P-47.
Its a real gamechanger for it,
And im also loving the Razorback ive just always loved the way it looks (and the higher speed does not hurt either!).
One of the best things with 150 grad fuel in my mind is that the WEP does not eat into the Combat timer as much when using it.
This is especially evident when using Combat Power (Full throttle no Water injection) with 2550RPM.
Using that without Water gives you 35 minutes of combat power (And 2550RPM also gives the best level flight top speed though 2700RPM)
Without 150 octane you can alternate between Combat (with 2550RPM) and WEP for 16 minutes (18 minutes in the D-22 since it runs after 6-7 min of WEP)
before you run out of the combat timers.
But with 150 octane you can do it for an extra 10 minutes
(26 minutes in the D-28 and 28 in the D-22 as it runs out of wep after 5-6 min)
which is a great improvement and allows you to stay fast for a long time.
Visually I likethe D28 more. For me the 28 is "the" P-47D. But I like that we have both.

I prefer the Razorback look because it has the classic Republic look that it shares with the P-43 etc.
I also love the Jug in green and most of the Bubble tops are sadly not green.
But i love them both and while i sometimes get punished by the poorer cockpit visibility (like you i tend to fly opencockpit untill shit hits the fan)
I still primarily fly the D-22 (the 20km/h+ speed difference down low is hard to say no too even though the Visibility probably kills me more often then the speed difference would xD).
I do wish we had a Bubble top with a different prop though since while the Razorback should still be faster much of the speed difference is due to the different props.
(the D-22 has the Hamilton Standard paddle Prop which was the fastest of the bunch)
would love it if some day they added a Modification to the D-28 for a different prop since it was not uncommon for an aircraft to be given a different prop which is apparent since our P-47D-28 has the asymmetrical AO Smith prop blades while factory standard for the D-28 was a Curtiss Electric paddle prop.
But that is probably highly unlikely as it would require decent amount of work (Finding the needed Data and modifing the FM and the Visual model)
for no payback and a very slight performance difference (and a few km/h in either direction does not really make a huge difference).

Yes but you can close it at anytime basically.

I like that you get visibilty "out of the box" with the D28. Quite more comfortable to fly in. However you can fly with open cockpit all the time in the D-22 and as soon as needed you can close it.

Not really. There is the upcoming C. But i combatpilot but i guess that will take a few years.
