    I’ve watched several vids trying to educate myself on the care of this beautiful plant. Your the first one to give a tip on the pinching at the top of the plant to help promote new growth. Thank you for that awesome tip! I hope mine promotes new growth by me doing this.

    I purchased a FLF from Sam’s Club around Christmas and it was tiny and overwatered. It died within a month. Or so I thought. I replanted it, gave it fresh, dry soil and put it in a window sill that received morning light and by the spring, it grew new leaves and now has about a dozen beautiful leaves. Couldn’t believe how resilient it was once I just left it alone, found it a spot it liked and watered it when it seemed dry.

    • @NiteshKumar-jj1ez
      @NiteshKumar-jj1ez 4 года назад

      Sorry, I am not an expert but what I learnt from various videos that you should not move the plant frequently, find a nest suitable place as mentioned here in this video as well, that place should have ample sunlight and humidity.
      Also no need to put so much water, so you can water inside ceremony’s pot per se (I.e without disturbing it). Also I found good results if you keep this plan around other plans which create good humidity

    • @ohyeahyeah1711
      @ohyeahyeah1711 4 года назад

      Nitesh Kumar I will give the plant bottle water I think that’s better but correct me if I’m wrong. Also if I just pour water inside the pot without moving it won’t it get over watered and the roots start to rot because the extra water inside the pot. So shouldn’t I just take it near a sink or something and give it water bottle water and then let it sit there for 30 minutes or so, so the extra water pours out. Then bring it back into the ceramic pot.

    pse do vids with more detail on fertilizing, which to use, where to get them and also humidity.
    Mine when I got it from the nursery a few days ago registered 50 % humidity, now it has been watered (when the top 2 inches was dry) with water running to the bottom but only registers 24-30% humidity with sprays of distilled water and little tubs of water around the base.
    Does one wipe both sides of the leaves?

    Hi, thank you so much for the video! I recently purchased FLF online and noticed that the root was rotten and not draining water at all so I decided to up potted (2” larger pot) by removing the all the old soil. I think I might have exposed the bare root to the air too long. It’s been about a week or so, one of the smaller FLF leaves are turning yellow and I have removed the leaves. How ever the taller FLF is doing a bit better but a few leaves have turned yellow as well. Please help. I don’t know what to do.

    • @lifeofroselle8389
      @lifeofroselle8389  4 года назад

      Yellow leaves mainly indicate overwatering. Make sure the soil you repotted it in has plenty of draining elements to it (perlite, pumice, bark, etc) and ask make sure the pot has a drainage hole! Also, make sure it has enough light as they could also be a factor of yellow leaves. Let me know if this helps!

I keep a close eye and they don’t seem to rapidly get any bigger. The bottom leaves are starting to die and fall off since ive brought it home it’s been 3 weeks now I’ve only lost 2 leafs. I was afraid of root bound when I bought it since they were both pretty large so I changed them into a larger lot with some regular mixing soil and the cactus soil.. Not sure if it’s dying from root rot, I know that both get pretty good light since they’re both next to windows where sunlight isn’t intense.. please help 🙏🏼😫 lol

    • @lifeofroselle8389

      It could be a sign of under watering or maybe even too much light.
      You could always get a moisture meter or even use a little chopstick to see how far down the soil is staying moist (or lack thereof). For light, try to use the compass app on your phone to see what direction the light is hitting it! It may be getting intense morning or afternoon light.

    Thanks a lot for this video, I find it super useful:). I am plantsitting a beautiful fiddle leaf fig in the rent I moved in. I am really scared that I will somehow damage it :D.
    I did not dare to clean the leaves with other than water, but the water stains are staying, finally I tried it with a little amount of lemon juice in the cleansing water and it seems to work. Do you think it is a good alternative to oils? And how often should I do it?
    The other thing is if I'd like to propagate from the stem with 2-3 leaves and I cut the stem will it branch from where I can it go just further upwards as it was before?
    Thanks

    • @lifeofroselle8389
      @lifeofroselle8389  4 года назад +1

      Make sure you aren’t using toooo much water when wiping down the leaves. As far as alternatives, there’s a bunch of others. I’ve even tried mixing a tiny bit of dawn dish soap with been oil and diluting with water and it worked amazing for me! I think any option you choose is great!
      For propagating, as long as you cut it in between the nodes and leave a few inches, the roots will grow out from the node that is still left on the stem. Hope this helps!

    Would a small crack in the leaf be possible if there’s also not enough humidity? Sounds kinda obvious I know, but want to make sure it’s not an early sign of another issue. Thanks

    • @lifeofroselle8389

      A small crack in the leaf could be a couple different things! If it’s super brittle and that caused the crack, it’s a possibility it needs more humidity (:

    Thank you for the helpful tips. I have a fiddle leaf tree that has brown spots on the center of a couple of leaves and what looks to be like large moisture spots on a couple of other leaves. Any idea what that is from or what my tree needs?

      Hi Judy! Try to check the moisture level of the soil using a moisture meter to make sure the plant isn’t getting too much water. Also, try to check the humidity levels in your home.

My tree does have brown edges on two of its leaves and the rest seem wilted but i water once a week so i have to think not enough sunlight?

    • @mmm22251
      @mmm22251 3 года назад

      Sometimes that’s normal cause now shes been brought into a new home so she will have to adapt. Keep her on a bright indirect light area , maybe next to a window with a mesh curtain . They need a lot of light but not like directly because they will get sunburn. Check her soil. If she dry at 4/5 inches into the soil, you can water her but the best thing to do is to be a moisture meter so you are sure that you’re not over watering. Oh and moisture !!!! They are big on this, best thing that worked for me was cleaning the leaves with a moist towel for a better photosynthesis process and then mist her with water so that she can have good humidity .

    Just bought one little fiddle leaf fig, it have some red spots on the leaves, I noticed that when i arrived home... will they disappear when I let it dry out between watering? Also, can I repot it into a little bigger pot? It just have so many roots inside (and a little outside) the soil. Or should I just let it be for a few days so it can adapt the new place? Thanks!

      Hey Erich! Sorry for a late response but I would go ahead and repot it! I’ve found that on some of my fiddles, once I repotted it after seeing a lot of roots as well as the red spots, they slowly went away and didn’t come back on newer leaves.

      Try notching it as I went over in the video! While that’s typically used for making more branches, branches=leaves. Also make sure the full plant is getting sun, not just top down.

    Hello,
    A portion of my fiddle leaf fig became leggy, area of no new leaves, because during the summer the out door umbrella blocked it's sun many hrs a day I just didn't notice it. So now what's happening is it's top heavy and bending over a bit because the leggy area is not strong to hold up the new growth above it.. I read not to tie it back because it won't strengthen that way. I have always jiggled it too. The new growth at top is making it bend more and more. What to do? Shall I take off the whole top portion past the leggy part? Or will that prevent new growth at top? Or will I kill it?

    • @lifeofroselle8389
      @lifeofroselle8389  2 года назад

      Hi there! I apologize for such a delayed response. I don’t think you will kill it if you decide to cut off the top portion! I would try notching it as I showed in the video on the leggy parts and make sure it gets ample sun! You could stake it just till it gets strong enough if you don’t want to cut off the top portion (: I hope this helps!

      Thanks for watching! At times, fiddle leaf figs and other plants are known to drop a couple leaves primarily at the bottom due to it going through an acclimation period. Because yours didn’t have as many leaves, that could have been the issue or it could have gotten damaged during shipping.

    I have had my fiddle leaf for about 2 months now and last night alone it dropped 3 leaves from one branch. That’s about 6 leaves so far this week. I’m starting to freak out. Im thinking it may need more humidity. Not sure if you could provide some guidance. How do you know if it’s really dying? Please & thanks.

    • @lifeofroselle8389
      @lifeofroselle8389  4 года назад +1

      Depending on how the leaves look prior to dropping off will tell you what it needs! If they’re brown, it could be a humidity or lack of water. If they’re yellow it could be too much water or not enough sunlight. Pay attention to any signs it gives you before it drops leaves and that should help determine how to save it!

    • @vlewis1602
      @vlewis1602 4 года назад

      They were mainly green with brown spots. I am thinking that the brown spots were from contact/rubbing because the browning is primarily on the tips.

    • @lifeofroselle8389
      @lifeofroselle8389  4 года назад

      Potentially! Sounds like it’s under watering but depending on how much you were watering, it could be from contact!

      @vlewis1602 4 года назад

      Thank you. I think it was under watering too. I’ve add a tray of rocks below to increase humidity. One last question: it appears that the tops where new growth should be springing forth is dying back. I want to prune it back. How far down should I cut? Thanks again for all the help!
