I just was in Mckays in Knoxville, and you would never believe what I found!! A full set of Sisk Gemology reference books!!! All 468/1000, I have been wanting these books for such a long time and never in a million years thought I would find them at a used book store in practically brand new condition, I’m so stoked to have them in my collection now! Virgo in the haussss! Omg these two Andrew and Rebecca are a FABULOUS reoccurring duo! Rebecca you say everything and more on my mind! I am loving this treasure moment! As a graphic designer and someone who is now seriously studying gemology and the geology I feel like I genuinely have found my people. Sending love!
This guy Andrew is my newest favorite guest lol! Can you please do a similar episode on all the tourmaline colors as well? How you were all mixing the color grades in the table is how I color sort my tourmalines!! 💎 Yes Andrew, you stumbled into my favorite guilty pleasure- color-sorting & playing with my gems is 1 of the best ways to asses any haul from a day of gem hunting. You should do it on-screen for us more often! 😁. Yeah I geeked out with you both on this episode. Keep up the fine work !
I love the sapphire as it's my birth stone but I just love the red Ruby for the beautiful colour. One day maybe ... I just turned 56 and still have neither . I don't even have a gold or silver chain/ necklace yet . Something of it is on my bucket list 🙂. Loved watching this show . Thank you & God bless you 🤗🙏
I love sapphires so much. The store where I work has a greenish-blueish Burmese sapphire, a bit over 10ct, and I'm always so happy when I get to hold it or show it! One hefty stone.
I've been hooked on watching Tims Adventures, he's an Australian sapphire miner who videos himself underground mining and after the material is topside and sorted through his machine he sorts his treasures. There's a lot I've wondered about different colors and watching your video I now have answers. Thank you
I had to stop and get a towel, i was drooling so much. I think I would have been speechless and just making funny gurgling noises if I had been there. One of the best explanations I have ever heard for sapphires. Excellent, excellent, excellent. I will now go and have sapphire dreams. Thank you all for the show. Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒
Wow! I love all the colors of gorgeous corundum! sapphires, and rubies are just gorgeous, but people dont realize that sapphires come in all different colors, including colorless. My favorite is the montana sapphires because you can get all the colors in one locale. And the polished ones were fantastic! And the man made material being used for cell phone, watch faces, etc. Rubies are gorgeous, but i have always loved sapphire, in all its colors but the rich dark blue is still fav. The bi-color is my favorite and thats where the montanas come in. Thanks for the awesome video and i agree, its almost sensory overload! But im not complaining! And Andrews ASMR with the stones was fantastic! I could listen to that all day! Awesome video and Yes, bring 2 million worth of stones next time. Any type of stones! lol!
Gosh, I was so jealous watching you run your hands through those piles! Sapphires are definitely my favourite. Next time you do a video featuring them, you should get a colour change one :D I have a blue-to-purple one that fluoresces like a ruby in my engagement ring. For sure one of the coolest minerals I have. Thanks so much for the video - I really liked seeing the rough specimens!
Fantastic episode, what a dream to have all those stunning sapphires to look at and play with. I was interested in Andrew’s comment about differentiating synthetic star sapphires from natural star sapphires, by looking at the fluidity... I would love to see a more in-depth discussion of this, using both natural and synthetic to demonstrate the difference. As always, awesome work team!
I bought a 0,8 carat blue non heat treated pear shaped cut sapphire. It is so tiny, but it is the most precious stone i will ever own in my life. Love sapphires, they are so versatile.
Wow!! I remember getting my first piece of rutilated quartz and being so happy lol but rutilated sapphires are really cool. My favorite piece is the big blue one Andrew likes but my second favorite is actually the little dark coffin shaped sapphire. The clear ones with iron in them are cool too. The cats eye or star sapphire is insane too! Thanks for sharing.
That was cool to learn about the bi-colored material being less likely to be heated. now I want a couple raw double terminated earrings! those are perfect!
Awe yeah, colorful corundum in time for all our Virgo birthdays. YES! I'd love to go out to Montana and dig up some of the green blue sapphires up there. Doesn't matter to me that they're not "gem quality" I'd just love the experience. 😍 Such a fun video!
I want to say Thank you for sharing your knowledge and all of the beautiful sapphires. I have learned more about what sapphires look like from this episode than I have anywhere else on the internet!
Bi-color sapphires are so amazing, and especially unique. I really love all of the colors, even the popular blue, but having that extra sense of individuality makes bi-color even more special!
Look up Tasmanian Sapphires the most amazing royal blues, if anyone ever comes down here id be more that happy to take you for a dig a show the cutting prosses thanks guys i've been waiting for this video
The colour variety of sapphires is just amazing. I loved that purple hue, very unusual, not really a colour I've seen before! I would love to own a loose terminated crystal, they are just so stunning!! One day it will happen!
ooo also maybe next time emeralds and blue/green/teal ones ... I loved the host rocks tooo such a difference in color .... maybe some teal and purple rocks, some gems that are not as popular or that we might not expect but are cool colors .... even quartz lol .... id love to do some by geology history for ex Montana or rockies vs Appalachians even white mountains
This video was filled with jaw-drop moments. The fact that the more prized rubies are found in marble now makes me curious. If some of the world's finest white marble is from Italy and Greece, are rubies found in that marble as good as Burmese? If not, why not? This Sapphire video now has me re-thinking my fav gemstone group rankings. Tourmalines vs. Corundums vs. Garnets.
It is very rare to find the exact conditions for sapphires to form. Silica is very common and sapphires need a silica free environment. Also, the conditions for their formation start at a high temperature and slowly over time cool off.
@@roughdiamondworld6815 So, are you basically suggesting that Burmese marble is free or almost free of silica whereas Greek and Italian are not? (Because what you said about silica had already been said by the video presenters.) Is there an echo in here, here, here, here, here.........?
@@LostWithoutHer >> Lol. Probably just rare Pockets of the right marble… Natural Ruby is getting rarer and rarer. Asia and India is putting all kinds of glass and dye treatments in poor, rough ruby. I didn't know rubies and sapphires are the same thing. Personally, I prefer garnet over either. The hematite piece would by my favorite in this video, because I like hematite.
I found what ended up being a 4.4 carat, Lavender star sapphire, which I found in western NC a few years ago. I also found a finish cut flawless silver topaz, over 3 carats cut weight and a finished 3.88 carat flawless citrine. Oh, and a .87 carat emerald cut, finished cut blue green emerald
I'm envious you are close to those gems! I'm in Washington and have found a number of gems I didn't realize we had, just not in the size you guys get over there. I hope you find a large carat weight AAAA quality emerald!
I have a bunch of raw sapphires, I got them very cheap so they must be cracked/not gem grade but they look very pretty, my collection is mostly greens but also some really nice blues, shaped like the ones at 5:59 but closer to the size of a tylenol/advil just a bit thicker, I also have some very small ones less than half that size that are majorly varied in colors, a group of pink/purple/lavender/magenta ones close to rubies and a group of blueish green sapphires , mixed in with the green was a very small amount of orange and yellow so I have a couple of those too, total I have enough that I'd definitely need two hands to carry them all piled up together, I didn't spend much on them though, less than $100 for sure, I was very surprised by how low cost I could find natural sapphires, they might not be good for faceting but it seemed lower than expected
Wow! Beautiful, amazing and totally informative! And handfuls of Sapphire's! That's so crazy. Your explanation of elements and the chemical processes involved during cooling, was great! Interesting how you'll get into Feldspars, after the Sapphires.
