    Thanks for the nice video. I just finished installing the damper and wanted to note the torque specs:
    Clamping screws bottom of front forks (2): 19 nm
    Quick release axle bolt: 30 nm
    Brake caliper bolts (4): 38 nm
    Speed sensor bolt: 5 nm noticed loctite already on it
    Front fender screws (4): 2 nm
    Clamp screw for new damper: 6 nm
    Original damper bolt to be reused: 14-17 nm with loctite
    Bolt, spacer and nut for new damper: 14-17 nm
    I put Vibra-Tite threadlocker on all of the bolts and screws. That's what the government uses for a reason, so I heard. The BMW spec sheet only had it applied to the original damper bolt.

    Good video but this is kinda a statement/question... It should always feel like it has a normal range of motion when you turn it as slow as you where, to be doing its job is for when the wheel jerks left and or right... harder and faster then how you where testing it... so if you sat on it and jerked it left ( just turn any direction quickly) thats how you'll what the settings are at... correct? Thats how I was told to think of it. My whole thing is my know doesn't have the markings on it so idk how far I can turn it and in which direction to the "0" lowest or "10" max settings . But I liked the video short and sweet.

    Adam, there won't be any original Oem parts left soon! Love it

      We're getting close to the end. Things I'd still like to do, Off-Road set of Wheels, Passenger seat with heat, Full Akra system (headers + exhaust + jetHot coated), PDM60 power module, Custom levers, custom footpegs, More forward-facing LEDs, heated gear hookup...so still lots to do but we are VERY close!

    Did you end up going with the Loctite 270 or did you use something else/different level?

    Adam, what are your thoughts on this product? Was this on the "old" bike, or the new red one? Thanks, Adam

      Hey Adam. Great question...actually in a very deep sand off road weekend, sand got into this damper and caused it to fail and break the seal..oil everywhere yada yada so I sent it off to Ted's BeemerShop to be re-furbished under warranty (surprisingly). and so I had to put back on the OEM damper. Night and day! It's crazy having the OEM back on. The amount of handlebar shimmy even on potholes is a huge increase when the panniers are full. When I was camping this weekend, full luggage off-roading, the steering wheel would bang all over the place. Threw me off guard at first but it's because I got so used to cranking up the damper to 18 clicks (out of 24) when I had fully loaded luggage and it makes a huge difference in stability of keeping the rear wheel from tracking weird or moving suddenly when hitting cracks or potholes. I can't wait to get it back. You don't really notice it when the bike is empty and you're just riding around town but with a full load or pillion, it's a nice improvement.

      @@AdamChandler86 , Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! Great information! Ted is a really cool guy, and its good to hear that they are hooking you up with the warranty fix. You have helped me to decide to finally pull the trigger on one. Gonna order it from the Beemer Shop, of course. Thanks again! Adam

      I just installed it. Piece of cake! Mine has 24 clicks, so I decided to try it on 6. Smoothed out my bumpy urban commute to work. I totally noticed the difference! Can’t wait to try it off road! Thanks again for the helpful video(s).

    i had issue where my touratech crash bars made the steering damper bracket hit too high and hit the steering damper could start scramping the bracket when turned all the way right.
    Touratech said it might be a crash bar issue but in the end went with an extra spacer. Not sure how it will go but working with dealer right now to make sure it's not going to get me or the bike messed up lol

    Hi Adam, thanks for your Vid. 🙂. With how many clicks do you ride?
    Or other fellow readers? I have it new, but come because of bad weather but not to ride...

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  2 года назад +1

      all depends but unloaded just me and the bike commuting. I keep it around 8 clicks which is pretty close to "OEM damping" If you have both off the bike (OEM & this one) you can compare the compression and find out what's similar to stock..I believe it was 8 clicks from 0. For off road, I do 12-15. For touring fully loaded on the interstate (not carving up corners or doing aggressive ride), I increase it to 20 clicks. Reason is fully loaded up GS on the interstate has a very light front wheel so steering can be well it can track on the highway a bit sloppily with luggage & pillion so on the interstate, big trucks pull it a bit and the clicks set to 20 really help stabilize the front and make cruise control with one finger pretty much effortless.
      Stock = 8, off road = 12, touring = 15-20. that's my advice.

      I wanted to add..I don't overthink it. It's usually at 8-12 and if I'm riding off road and having trouble keeping the steering straight, I'll adjust accordingly or if I'm doing a 1000 mile day and find the bike is tracking all over the road when the wind blows, I'll click it up to 20. you''ll find what works for you.
