    • @dudeman5303
      @dudeman5303 4 года назад +8

      @nynetynyne straight up. But we also need to embrace our differences culturally, the beauty of America is that there is an infinite amount of culture everyone takes part in, and we are all a weird mash up of cultures and sub cultures. Most of us dont even know it. Conservatives of today think classic rock and country are the only good genres of music ever and they seem to think its "white music" but they dont have a clue that their favorite classic artists' heroes were largely black people (at least in rock music, I am assuming country is from blues and rock, or jazz, so country would be of origins in black culture too I would think, basically every single genre other than classical has roots in black culture before it ends up getting marketed to white audiences), they wouldnt have rock or country without black culture in America. Black culture in america is specifically always ahead of the curve and the most inventive because their culture was stripped from them during slavery, and so because of that they have historically made sure they excell at creating their own culture to be proud of in order to survive in a country as racist as america, because white supremacy tries to strip all marginalized people of their culture through corporations appropriating it and coopting their culture and marketing it to white people. They tend to target black culture more than anything it seems though. If they can't co-opt it they continuously talk down about it in the media, think of ben Shapiro trying to claim hip hop and rap isnt music, or saying its all about "gangster and hoes", they try to tear down cultures they can't take away. They said the same shit about rock until it became considered "white music" by a lot of Americans.

    One of the grandest moments of my life happened on Splash Mountain. My family and I went to Disneyland when I was about fourteen, and per chance, there was hardly anyone in the park that day. We got onto Splash Mountain and rode it through at least four, maybe as many as seven times in a row without ever getting off. For my family, it was a truly engaging moment--something that bonded us well together.
    I have some sentimental attachment to the ride due to the experience with my family--but for the love of God, there is no reason to freak out over changing it. Ok, I know, the racist do. Who thinks that modern kids would rather see allusions to a film that was outdated and crappy even when it was made, let alone today when there is so much more exciting animation, better coloring, better graphics, better story lines and much more popular shows to watch? No one can seriously think that. Show trailers from Song of the South and The princes and the frog movie and see which the kids pick. I'd be truly shocked if any less than 95% of the kids choose the modern film. It's a good business decision. Racist are out of their ever lovin' minds. But hay, I guess we knew that.

However, I think that it;s worth noting that Disney hasn't really made much of a turn around in re-branding Splash Mountain with the Princess and the Frog. P. A.T.F. has several overtly racist notions as well. It does pander to a modern demographic in that at least there's a Black princess amid the many racist notions. As I'm writing and listening to myself think, I realize, it's really a thinly veiled egregious way to perpetuate the stereotypes to yet another generation. Given Walt's well documented racism and anti-Semitism it's really no surprise.

      @@Equilibrium-db1yv @Equilibrium1736 I misspoke, I meant California Screamin. Just cause I made a weird typo doesn't mean I'm not a fan of these parks. (Weird mistake though, as I actually don't much care for Knott's).
      Ultimately I agree that most of the time I prefer the original, but there are exceptions here and there. I think the Guardians overhaul for Tower of Terror is actual pretty good, and the Incredicoaster is better than the complete lack of theming of the original.
      I don't think it's fair to call them all flops. The original Hollywood ride that Monsters Inc replaced was widely considered to be pretty horrible. The new version isn't amazing, but I'd call it an improvement. The Stitch one in my opinion is ok, and mostly I think suffers because they replaced a very different (tonally) experience.
      I think it's really easy for bias of the older folks who grew up with these rides the way they were to creep in and taint our view, but I also think that the overhauls can feel a bit hollow sometimes. But hey, I'm one of those folks who grew up regularly going to Disneyland as a kid, so I too have an attachment to those rides and don't really love the idea of them being changed, but also Disney parks aren't just for me and a lot of that stuff is pretty out dated. So, I don't think I have a right to complaint when something many children have never seen is revamped to a more recognizable ip.

I mean I'll miss Zip-A-Dee-Do-Da Days but I understand the decision and respect it. Plus I support ending Zip-A-Dee-Do-Da Days as statistics show that they have the number one highest suicide rates of the year

      Oh, wow! I didn't even remember that's where that song came from until you said that. Now it's in my head, but it has such a happy sound I don't even care. I don't even know anything but the chorus and it seems totally upbeat and positive, so maybe keep the song but lose the movie? When I think of "Song of the South" I always think of the Alabama song which I also like. I think one of the lines in it goes "ain't nobody lookin' back agin", but it seems that some will always look back in favor of the old south, like you said until they die out and newer ideas/traditions take over.

      @@rhodawatkins4516 Yeah. It's a nice upbeat song but it's relation to the film tarnishes it. I think Dumbo mightq have an issue too.

    I think some of it is people feel sad when something from their past changes. But you're an adult now, get over it. Eventually it all disappears anyways.

      Dùbhghlas MacDùbhghlas 😀The kids had a grand time playing with the boxes. I on the other hand am specifically enjoying reducing the stack inside and increasing the empties in the garage.
