His pauses were impregnable and so also your invaluable comments and inputs. All in all a fascinating experience.

Constitution should have not taken caste & relegion as criterion for helping dis-advantaged sections of the society. They should have taken their financial status as the sole criterion. Then the society would have advanced with little factionalisation of the Indian society on relegion& caste, the present bane of the country. The relegion and caste are private of each individulal of the country.

As per my understanding from a Vedic Teacher that Manusmriti is not relevant after Krishna Bhagawan left His Body. The Agastya Smrithi is relevant. Any Smrithi only based on Rule based Life and Varnashrama Dharma, not Casteism.

So, the work of the best minds of the independence generation should be thrown out in toto - to be replaced by the outpourings of current day brilliance? Can we even name 10 people who are qualified to be part of a new constituent assembly? Better to make changes here and there - instead, unwavering focus should be on improving governance. No constitution can survive the poor intentions/ inefficiency of the bureaucracy

Shri Gautam's presentation of the backgrounfd unfortunately is factually riddled with too many inaccuracies. PGurus should not let such wrong presentations take place as wrong info is worse than no presentation. Basically start of WWII had major implications. The Viceroy declared war without consulting the major political parties particularly the CONGRESS which was RULING 8 out of the 11 British Indian provinces. Foolishly Gandhiji took it as a prestigious issue and got the Congress ministries to resign. This left the field for British machinations with Jinnah and the ML, which led to the 23rd March 1940 Pakistan resolution. Under basically US pressure the Cripps mission of 1942 came but was doomed as intended by Churchill. The Congress response of QUIT INDIA in August 1942 was crushed brutally and and all Congress leaders as well others of RSS jailed. This left Jinnah and ML to totally communalise the country with active help from the British. However the British were economically devastated by the war and only survived because of the US and 2,5 million Indians who became part of the Military. It was clear by 1945 that it was not possible for Britain to hold India. Labour won in 1945 and tried to find a suitable way for them to exit WITHOUT getting caught in the COMMUNAL holocaust whcih was clearly waiting to happen, Despite a Cabinet Mission to India in 1946 no solution could be found between Congress and ML as the latter's head Jinnah would not compromise on separate Muslim Homeland of Pakistan and unleashed terrible communal violence. However arising out of the the Cabinet Mission Plans the CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY was set up on 9th December 1946. The Congress initiated Constitution making work IMMEDIATELY despite Jinnah and ML boycotting it. The terrible communal situation lead Congress to decide that a unified India with a strong Centre by agreeing to Pakistan(with Partition of Punjab and Bengal) was the only solution to avoid total mass communal civil strife/CIVIL WAR and chaos. This was the view of Sardar Patel who as Home Member was aware of the overall situation in the country and also aware of the looming problem of 565 Princely States. The Partition had terrible consequences whose roots lay in the COMUNAL ELECTORATES decision of the British in 1909. However Sardar Patel -THE MAN WHO SAVED INDIA(as described by Hindol Sengupta in his book) has proved spectacularly RIGHT. India framed a constitution by Nov 1949 and has celebrated its 75 Independence Day-the Soviet Union despite a single party rule with the killing and incarceration of MILLIONS collapsed totally a little after 70 years! and what can one say of Jinnah's Pakistan. Our travails and how we overcame them needs to be properly told so that the three genrations know what they have inherited and WHAT ALL THEY HAVE TO DO in future.

Add to it untouchability, devadasi.. etc and it is becoming a bottomless abyss of ADHARMA. No wonder not one noble idea such as equality, equal opportunity, gender equality or dignity of labor did come from hinduism. You may want to spin it as much as you want by calling it by different names such as sanathana dharma or by whatever name you want to, but you cannot wash away the beastly/ghastly nature of your filthy religion.
